#Chapter3 September 16th

Since being released from the detention center, Charlie, the student giving me a campus tour, had been waiting for me for about 25 minutes. This caused her to skip her lunch break, but she assured me that I shouldn't be concerned because she had already eaten.

She took me on a walk, which was shockingly dull. I despise tours, particularly when they are not connected to touring a region, and visiting a museum is no exception.

She ended the tour after about 30 minutes, and we came to a halt at my locker. /"I hope you don't get lost anytime soon,/" Charlie says with a grin, /"and you can always ask me for support./"

/"Hailey, I'll see you around!/" She says this as she walks away to her next class. I opened my locker by entering the combination that was written on a piece of paper. I stuffed my English book inside, along with a few notebooks from the class I had skipped due to my detention.

I took the paper from the Headmaster and looked at my timetable for the next week, as well as how much time I had left. As I cringed, I was distracted when I heard a girl beside me talking to herself loudly. As I shut my locker, I was shocked to see a girl standing in front of me, laughing crazily.

/"Hi! I heard that you were a new student, so I decided to find you because I know high school might be tough for you right now, especially when you are new to this school. Also—/"

I extended my hand for her to shake, /"Hi, I'm Hailey, and you are?/" She stops talking as she stares at my hand for a good fifteen seconds before shaking it.

/"I'm Amelia. Have you eaten yet? There are 10 minutes left for break time. Do you want to join my friends and me at the Cafeteria?/" Amelia asks as I smiled at her and nodded my head.

She clings her arm in mine, /"Let's go and meet some of my friends!/" She says as she drags me along with her.

I don't usually do this with other people who try to confront me on the first day; this is actually the first time I have done this, which makes me weirded out all of a sudden about my own actions.

We arrived at the Cafeteria. It was loud, and it seems busy; the lunch ladies are trying to feed the hungry students as the line increases by the time we arrive. Amelia drags me to where the line starts, and we waited patiently for our turn.

I think just waiting for my turn in this line would probably take me 10-15 minutes of waiting since the progress of this line is so slow. They should have two or three cashiers instead of having one.

After a few minutes passed by, finally, it was our turn to grab some food. I chose some chicken nuggets and a cheese pizza that looks appetizing enough to eat and some baby carrots on the side; for beverages, I grabbed a bottle of water to keep me hydrated. I paid for my food and waited for Amelia to pay for hers.

/"You're going to love my friends. I know you will,/" Amelia chats with me as we start walking, and I follow her to where she is going. /"You don't have to worry about feeling left out because they are, or should I say, we are so friendly./"

Amelia is such a vivacious and loquacious person. I wish I was that type of person, but I am such a sucker for making friends. This makes me an introvert because I'd instead let them speak first, then speaking up, which lessened the chance of me getting some real friends in this school.

I look at Amelia, /"I sure hope I'll get along with everyone pretty well—/" I was cut off when I bumped into a substantial body again. I really need to watch where I am going; this could lead to severe injuries next time.

The tray that I was holding fell on the floor, along with the chicken nuggets and some baby carrots. The pizza was nowhere to be found. I squat down to grab the food on the floor and place them back on the tray to throw them properly.

/"Hailey, it's fine. You can just leave it on the floor. The Janitor is on its way here,/" Amelia says as I ignored her response as I continue picking it up.

/"Ahem,/" I look up at the person who bumped into me, and I saw him again for the third time. I stood up from the floor and saw that the pizza was stuck on his T-Shirt. /"I believe this is yours./"

He grabs the pizza that is sticking on his shirt and gives it to me. I grabbed the pizza from him as I chuckle at the grease that was left on his shirt, /"I think you should purchase some glasses so that your vision will be clearer./"

/"Why are you even walking in the middle of the hallway? There's like a huge amount of space at the other side,/" I said annoyingly as he rolls his eyes at me and smirks once again.

/"I'm so sorry about my friend here. He is such a drama king,/" The brown-headed guy says as Cayden punches his shoulder, /"I mean drama queen,/" Cayden throws another punch at him once again as his eyes widened at him.

/"Are you okay, though?/" Another brown-headed guy asks. I looked at him and nodded my head. He seems charming, his eyes were brown, and the structure of his face was like, heavenly sculpted by the Greek Gods.

/"Hailey. Ignore them,/" Amelia cuts me off by whispering to my ear. I look at her with a straight face, and she stares at me.

I was cut off again by Amelia saying, /"Seriously, let's go./"

/"Hello, baby!/" I hear a girl say. I look at the Cafeteria entrance and saw the same blonde girl who took my parking space at the parking lot earlier, which is why I was running late.

She walked towards us and smiles at Cayden. He rolls his eyes at her as she gives him a peck at his cheek, /"I miss you already. Why didn't you stop by at my house last night?/" As she touches his body, she says made me roll my eyes at how disgusting it is for her to act like that in front of many people.

I just noticed, half of the students in the Cafeteria are watching us, making me want to crawl under the table and hide or just wish for the ground the swallow me whole.

Amelia drags me away from the scene as she hushed me down, and I stopped talking about the fallen pizza along with the chicken nuggets and baby carrots. We arrived at a table, and everyone at the table stopped talking and looked at the both of us.

/"Hey, guys! This is Hailey, she's a new student. Transferee from.../" Amelia stops, /"which state?/" she whispers.

/"Pennsylvania,/" I said.

/"A transferee from Pennsylvania. Say hi,/" Amelia says happily as they all smile at me.

They all greeted me one by one, and they told me their names one by one. I wasn't really around this many people, but I can try if I want to survive the senior year of high school. I just wish that I was confident enough to be like them.

/"So, why did you transfer, if you don't mind me asking?/" Bridget, the blonde girl, asks. She told me that she used to be a cheerleader before, but she quit the team when the girls on her squad started picking at her weight.

/"It's really a personal matter,/" I told her, and she nodded her head.

/"Sorry for asking./"

/"No, it's fine,/" I said as I smile it off. Alison looks at me, and I looked at her; she opens her mouth to speak when she was suddenly cut off by Amelia. I look at Amelia as I listen to what she says, but I was distracted by the blonde girl sitting on Cayden's lap. She's trying to force herself on him even though he is clearly not attracted to her.

Amelia turns her head in my direction and looks back at me, /"She's Katie. You wouldn't like to be in trouble with her if I were you./" I look at Amelia as I draw my eyebrows together in confusion.

/"What do you mean?/" I asked.

/"She clearly acts like she owns the school. She's mean to those students who are not at her level, and she forces herself at the only guy who doesn't like her back./"

/"That sounds sad,/" I say as I look back at Katie, who, by now, is trying to steal kisses from Cayden. I looked back at Amelia and started eating her baby carrots.

/"Also, her friends are like mute. But when Katie starts bullying, all they do is say 'yeah, right./" Amelia mocks Katie's friends as I chuckle. /"And they are basically dumb. Dumb as a rock./"

The bell rings, signaling that break time is over and our fourth period is about to start. /"What's your next class?/" Amelia asks as she stood up from the chair and grabs her bag under the table. I grabbed the paper inside my bag to check my schedule.

/"Math class,/" I said.

/"Aww, we'll be far away. That is in room 25B. What's your next period after that?/" She asks again, and I look at the schedule once more.

/"Uh, Literature?/" I say more like a question. Amelia starts to squeal like a fangirl.

/"We have the same! I'll see you later in Literature!/" Amelia says as she starts walking out of the Cafeteria, /"Peace out!/" She shouted before leaving.

After she and I left the Cafeteria, I went to my locker first to grab a spare notebook that I could write on since I don't have all of my books yet with me. I entered the combination and opened my locker; after grabbing the notebook, I closed the locker and saw the same guy earlier at the Cafeteria, inches away from me, staring.
