The Destroyer

Alex made a grim expression as he found Ottar's words ominous. Looking around at the raging flames in the surrounding, Ottar continued.

"Alex Uchiha, what do you think will happen if excessive damage was done to the dungeon that's beyond its capacity to repair?"

Alex couldn't say anything as he doesn't know anything regarded about this matter. Alex was sure that he had uncovered all information that was available to the public.

'Unless?'

However, if Ottar was saying was one of those confidential informations that was hidden, it would make sense that he didn't know about this.

The moment Alex was about to question why Ottar was saying this thing in this situation, the sound of the wall screeching echoes throughout the entire floor and the wall in front of them collapsed.

It had two arms and two legs. The long, thin arms were bizarrely out of proportion with the body. The legs, too, were long and thin but bent backward at the joints. Oddly, the bony, nearly fleshless form was covered in a shell that at first glance looked like a coat of armor.

It glinted with a strange dark-purplish-blue light. From the base of its back extended a hard four-meder-long tail. Its bumpy head was identical to a beast's skull, except for the crimson light that glowed within the two empty eye sockets.

Alex frowned as it wasn't a monster he recognized from reading the books in the library.

"A Juggernaut. How unexpected for it to truly appear."

'Dangerous. Something I shouldn't face head on.'

Alex thought with a serious expression as he stared at the monster that Ottar called the Juggernaut. In an instant, the Juggernaut disappeared from his sight. Not even his sharingan was able to capture its movement.

'So fast!'

As Alex was about to use [Flying Thunder God] to disappear from where he stands, Ottar appeared before him and swung his arm, throwing the rushing Juggernaut to a wall and extinguishes all the raging flames with the tremendous shockwave.

Alex frowned looking at the aftermath of Ottar's simple action. He wasn't able to react towards Ottar's speed at all. Also, all the flames he had caused earlier disappeared like it had never been there before.

If not for the damage in the surroundings, Alex might think that what he had caused earlier was just an illusion. Not really caring at Alex's shocked expression, Ottar glanced at Alex.

"Have you done something to earn the ire of the dungeon?"

"Nothing actually."

Alex unconsciously replied as he was still flabbergasted. He also didn't expect that Ottar would save him from the Juggernaut's surprise attack.

"As this was just the upper floor, that doesn't really explain why a Juggernaut emerged."

Looking at Ottar's broad back, Alex asked seriously.

"What's a Juggernaut anyway? I didn't heard anything about this even from the guild."

"That's natural for a level 1 like you to not know. The existence of the Juggernaut was kept secret by the guild to avoid the panic among the adventurers."

Alex didn't made a sound as he listened intently to Ottar's every words that left his mouth.

"According to Lady Freya, it is the dungeon's defense mechanism. Something created to handle threats capable of causing extensive damage to the dungeon."

"I see."

Apparently, the Juggernaut spawns as a part of the dungeon's defense mechanism every time excessive damage is done to the dungeon itself.

"Anything else?"

Alex asked as he gripped his weapons. Looking at Alex who didn't lose his composure, Ottar was impressed as Alex didn't cower in fear despite almost being attacked by a monstrous monster. As he was impressed, Ottar didn't mind to tell Alex further.

"It has tremendous strength and speed with razor-sharp claws and armor that can reflect magic. However, it has poor defenses to physical attacks. Its potential varies depending on which floor it emerges, with deeper floors producing stronger monsters. Also rather than having a magic stone, it is designed to disintegrate after a certain period of time elapses."

Alex nodded hearing him. Glancing towards the Juggernaut that was cautiously examining them, Alex narrowed his eyes.

"Why is it still alive after being attacked by you?"

Alex was really confused as he had expected for the Juggernaut to die instantly after being hit by Ottar. Looking at his expression, Ottar chuckled a bit.

"Of course. I spared it to make it fight you."

"Are you insane?"

Alex reflexively exclaimed questioning Ottar's sanity. It was out of his expectation for Ottar to not finish off such kind of a threat just to make it fight him.

"How could I even have the chance to beat that when I'm just a level 1?"

"Said the one who challenged a level 7."

Alex remained silent as he couldn't find anything to rebuke Ottar. After all, he was already out of his mind when he challenged the strongest in Orario.

"Don't worry much. As this was just the upper floors, the strength of the Juggernaut was simply at the early stage of level 3."

Ottar spoke after analyzing and examining the Juggernaut. Hearing that, Alex became serious. Looking at his reaction, Ottar was once again surprised.

"It's surprising that you don't intend to back down despite hearing it's strength was at level 3."

Alex widened his eyes when he heard that. Ottar's words made sense. Even knowing that the Juggernaut greatly outclassed him, he didn't feel any fear of fighting it at all.

Knowing very well that he was just a level 1 adventurer, Alex also found this strange. After thinking for a while, Alex simply smiled.

"Well I don't intend to lose."

As a previous god, Alex still had the pride of being a higher being that unconsciously looked down on the others despite being unintentional.

Ottar smiled when he heard that as he simply throws the Juggernaut again that made a sneak attack. He believes the opposite of Eina, Rose and any of the Guild Employees, believing that adventurers would never break out their shell if they didn't adventure.

[Quest Triggered.]

[Transcend the Destroyer]

Rating: S

[A Juggernaut had emerged because of the extensive damage you had dealt to the dungeon. By sending a Juggernaut, the dungeon wanted to eliminate you.

Quest Clear Conditions: Defeat or survive against the Juggernaut.

Quest Clear Rewards: 10 Skill Point, 10,000 System Points, Fusion Skill.]

Alex was also surprised at the system message that suddenly appeared. Reading the notification windom, Alex grinned thinking that defeating the Juggernaut would give him another great rewards even he currently had no idea what this fusion skill.

"I had no daggers left."

Alex softly mumbled to himself while his sharingan was gazing the Juggernaut. Because he had thrown all of his daggers earlier, all of it were incinerated by the flames he and Krausel had caused.

As he needed several daggers for his fighting style, Alex immediately opened the system shop and bought 100 pieces of Assassin's Decree that was immediately sent to his inventory.

Looking at Ottar, Alex saw him merely looking at him and the Juggernaut.

'It seems like I'm the only one who could see the system.'

It's not like Alex wanted to hide the system despite it being a great deal among the gods.

'How convenient.'

He only found it very convenient that only him could see as it save him some trouble. Holding the Splitting Edge tightly, Alex felt a gust of wind had blown in front of him. The Juggernaut made it's appearance in front of him then let out a violent roar .

Kuooo!

The whole floor trembled as if it were about to collapse. With just one dash, the Juggernaut propelled itself towards where Alex was standing.

The fast movement still stunned Alex. After all, this kind of speed is above his imaginations that a monster from the upper floor could have.

In that instant, something very thin started weaving itself near his heart. For the first time, Mind was taking action on its own in order to protect its owner and invoke his skills.

Flying Thunder God.

The sharp claws of the Juggernaut touched nothing but the crimson flash that Alex left behind. Appearing to a dagger that he swiftly threw after buying from the system, his sharingan calmly stared at the back of the Juggernaut.

"According to Ottar, magic is a big no as it will just reflect it back to me so I'll go offensive with only physical attacks."

Alex might have a hard time seeing the Juggernaut but time around Alex slowed down.

No, to be precise, his maximized concentration accelerated his thought process, making everything except for his own consciousness seem to slow down.

He grasped the short sword in his right hand, holding it in a reverse grip, and swiftly crept closer. He was now only a few meters away from the Juggernaut. Alex attentively gazed at his target's back. After making some quick measurements, he resembled a cheetah as he patiently stored up power in his legs before suddenly pouncing towards his target.

Unlike Ottar's attacks that the Juggernaut couldn't do anything, it had already discovered Alex long ago! It's awareness weren't something to be trifled with.

The Juggernaut had intended to lure Alex closer so it could immediately kill him. Seeing that it immediately assaulted, Alex was inwardly surprised. This monter's reaction speed is pretty quick.

Even it's claws were rushing to him to the point that he could barely see it, and had reached an astonishing level. He welcomed the oncoming attack head on and rushed forward.

Just as his head was about to be pierced by the claws, Alex turned into a flash and instantly appeared below it's chest. He stabbed out with his dagger, aiming directly at his opponent's chest.

Assassinate!

[The effect of the skill 'Coup de Grace' has been activated, adding 200% critical damage.]

「Splash!」Blood gushed out and splattered everywhere. Alex timely used his Flying Thunder God as his dagger penetrated the Juggernaut's chest.

Seeing that he could successfully land an attack despite it's speed. Alex eyes made a glint seeing that he could win this.
