Court of Cards

Would I sound crazy if I tell you that I was in a game? Which I really was! Not the crazy part though. It's been a year and a half since I got tangled inside this game. I could say I was already dead in my real world if only I knew how I died. The thing was, I didn't have the slightest idea how I got here and how could I go back. So the only solution I came up with-after narrowing all the theories and research that I made for almost a year-was to finish the damn game. A/N: the photo is not mine. Credits to the owner.

Prologue

I stood in a vast white space with nothing to see but only pure whiteness. There were no directions nor path. I looked down where my white dress hangs just above my knee, I wiggled my toes over the white tiled floor. Even I've been walking for a while, I didn't feel anything. Not scared nor exhausted.

"Greetings, Miss Eirlys," a voice suddenly spoke from behind me.

Unsurprised, I turned around and saw a tall young man with a white mask that has gold line covering his eyes. Few of the strand of his white long hair falls out from his white hood.

"I am the god of life," he continued introducing himself.

"I'm dead, huh." I couldn't believe it. It must be from overworking or maybe drowning. I came home from the university and decided to take a long bath before I fetch my younger brother at my aunt's house.

All the hard work I had put through went all in vain.

He smiled. "Death has not taken your life, yet, little one."

"If not, then why am I here?"

He gestured his hand gracefully telling me that I should turn around. "I heard your prayers and chosen you to give you a choice," he said as I turned around. Two doors appeared facing each other. "On your left is the door that will lead you back to your world while on your right it will lead you to another world and live as someone else."

"What about my brother?"

He just smiled at me.

I took a step and turned.

While I was holding the knob the god of light spoke before I could open the door. "You will forget about this. Goodbye, Eirlys."

"Thank you," I said and entered the left door.

To where my family is.
