003| The Light Continues

Max stared at the carriage with a weird symbol on the side which he assumed is the "Finspell royal family's crest" and begins to freak out and talks to Jax.

"J-Jax...what do we even do right now????" Max exclaimed quietly yet confused and stuttering.

"Just calm down, breathe, and remember your "royal" family name... and well we should be okay...ish." Jax replied while looking semi confident yet a sign of weakness was visible on his face from the lie he had said earlier. Max looked away from Jax to see the carriage slowing down before them and comes to a stop, a thst stop a tall figure dressed in a dark suit appeared from the carriage and asked for them both to get in. "May you both get into the carriage sirs? It is of great importance I personally escort you to the castle to meet with the king and queen as to why another royal family children have came to this town of "Mos Spell". We will be going immediately the moment you get on" the driver said while treating them with respect and got back into his carriage and awaited the boys choice to get in.

They looked at each other and agreed to just fake it all until the very end. They got into the carriage and it begins to set off for the castle over the bumpy yet smooth concrete below their feet. After a few minutes of traveling Max spoke up, "Hey uh... what's your name?" He asked.

The person looked back at Max with a small slight smile appearing on his face and replied. "If you really want to know your highnesses, you can call me William. That is the name my mother and father provided me at birth. Then I got into the Royal family school for butlers, and that's all you need to know about me as I'm not important enough to your highnesses." He spoke calmly, and gently.

After a few more minutes they arrived at the palace as they entered they saw Noel again at the front doors of the Royal Palace. They both looked up and saw her waiting as if she was waiting for them to get out.

"Well this can't be... that bad right?" Max asked Jax looking at her at the doors to the plalace. "...I mean it certainly can't be that good of news either if she's just waiting there right?" Jax said cautiously looking over the palace for escape points in case things go south.

The two boys got out of the carriage and walked up to Noel while looking up and down the palace that they somehow find themselves in front of still being thirsty as not having a lot of water to drink over the past couple of days worth of traveling.

"Guys!!! Over here, come on hurry up I've already told my parents about your arrival and they're curious about you guys!!" Noel said loudly, almost a scream yet not there quite. Jax looked over at Max and they just continued to walk to her eventually making their way to her and walks inside after William opens the door for the three.

They follow Noel into the Throne Room where Noel's prints were waiting for their arrival. The king spoke up first, "Introduce yourself to me each of you. I'm curious as to if I know the family..." he said suspiciously knowing they were lying as he hasn't gotten a notice from any Royal family in the area of two teenagers arriving into his territory but wants to encourage them to see what happens.

"W-well my name is Jax Midnight your highness." Said jax stuttering a bit as he's in front of a king of a land. A small land compared to others but he is still a king.

Max spoke soon after Jax, "My name is Max Wellingness your highness." Max said confidently trying to keep his posture and respectful. The king looked down at the two boys and thought to himself for a moment. "Well, they're definitely not apart of any royalty anywhere nearby... I could have them both executed for lying on behalf of Royal law #007. "Any who fakes being a Royal deserves an execution on the spot." However ... I am curious as I haven't seen anyone attempt this before."

The king sighed and looked up for a moment before speaking again. "Very well, I welcome you into the small kingdom of "Finspell" boys. I am hoping that my small kingdom will be of any use to you two." He chuckled at what he said and got up from his throne to walk away for other important matters to intend to at the time.

After a short while of being stunned in place Max and Jax looked over at one another and released the longest sigh of their life as of that moment could've been the end of their life. "W-well...we somehow got out of that right Jax?" Max spoke up and asked quietly as not letting Noel overhear the conversation.

"Y-yeah.. you're right but I'm certain he's already onto us...as you saw him sigh and he looked up. It's the same thing my parents did when they caught me in a lie, so just remember to be on guard and run when and if you need to." Jax said to Max while eyeing the possibility of an escape route from their current location inside the palace.

They decided to leave the palace soon after the incident and went around looking over the kingdom of Finspell. Over the next couple of weeks nothing excited happened besides Noel constantly annoying them both and eventually they got called back by the king for a special occasion.

"Welcome back. I have a special offer to give to you both as I heard from our adventurer guild I heard you two wanted to become an adventurer right? Well I got a special quest for the both of you to be accepted. I want you two to hunt down a guy by the name of "Sky ripple", he's quite a dangerous guy considering he's a A- rank adventurer in the dark guilds... but if you do accept and finish this mission within 4 years I'll grant you the title of B+ rank adventurer, 90 thousand gold each, and I'll also be your sponser for the next year after the completion of the quest. Do you accept?" The king said while looking down at the two in a serious manner.

They both looked at each other and began to talk to each other. "Well...I mean we don't know any magic at all.. you know Jax?" Max spoke quietly to Jax. After a few moments of thinking Jax responded to Max, "Listen it's a 4 year long contract deal of a quest... with a KING as a sponser, and also 90 thousand gold each. That could last us both a lifetime. I think it's worth taking this on, learning magic, and then attempt to do it after that." Max loooed over at the king for a moment to see him slowly getting more impatient and thought of Jax's idea and agreed.

They both spoke up at the same time and agreed to take on the quest. "Yes, your highness we will take it on." They said in unison, they started to walk out of the place to start on their first quest of the long time, and extremely hard conditions to come their way.
