Chapter 7

The next day I woke up by a scared but friendly face I knew all too well. Cato had woke me up again because I had overslept again. I wanted to be awake before he got up but that never happens unless he is up very late like that last night. He left and I got up and got dressed in the outfit he had laid out for me. We walked down and met with the other tributes. We boarded the small plains and while we were flying they came around and gave us a small tracker. It hurt a little when they put it in but other than that I was fine. I couldn't wait to get the hunger games over with so I could go home. I would do anything to be the victor even if I have to kill to get there I will do it. We had to go into these little house shaped rooms that labeled our names on them. Jennette was waiting for me with a coat in her hands. I hugged her and walked into this tube like thing. It started to move and I saw the light. People were on pillar things like I was. Cato was on the opposite side of me. The timer got to go and everyone jumped off the pillars. I ran to the cornucopia and killed as many people as I could. It was a bloodbath. 15 people were dead by the end of that. The survivors were scattered around the hunger games. The careers and I were walking around and killing anyone we saw. There were only 8 more people to that is still alive in the next morning. Katniss, Glimmer, Cato, Marvel, Rue, Thresh, Foxface, and I.

The Careers and I were walking in the woods and I saw Katniss. She took one look at who was with me and ran. We followed her until she climbed up a tree. District 11 and 12 knew how to climb trees before we could walk. They all tried to climb the tree but failed. Even Cato fell and he was good at everything that existed but how to get the right girl to like him. I was laughing so hard but I stopped when Glimmer took out her bow.

"Are you going to climb up there or can I kill her now." Glimmer asked

Scared that my best friends life was in my hands I started to climb up the tree with a knife in my mouth. Pirate style. I got up there and took the knife out of my mouth. I started stabbing the tree till there was a nice little knock where I could put the knife in. Katniss and I started to laugh until Glimmer put an arrow into the sky. It missed us by a hair. Cato grabbed the bow and aimed it at us. He had this anger in his face. Then in a flash, it was gone and a wicked smile played on his face. I had seen that smile before and it was not a good sign. He put the bow down and hugged glimmer.

"We should wait them out, they can't move because we will kill them so they with starve," he explained

I guess the pain showed in my eyes because Katniss looked at me and hugged me fiercely. Then he smiled his sweet smile again and right there I knew he had different plans than what he just said. That night they all fell asleep. Cato said he would keep watch but he was tired and fell a*sleep. Katniss and I slid down the tree without making a sound. We ran to the cornucopia where the careers had their supplies. If they knew that we were going to be there they would steer the other way or so I thought. The next day they came. Cato in the front with Marvel and Glimmer trailing behind. He stopped and asked Glimmer something I couldn't hear. She stepped right on our planed circle of bombs. In an instant, she was gone. Incinerated because the bomb was that strong. Cato smiled and Marvel walked on it too. He was so dumb sometimes that I felt sorry for him, only a little though. He was gone. I flipped the switch and the bombs were disabled. I still hadn't forgiven him just yet but he did kill Glimmer, and Marvel just follows her everywhere. I think he was in love with her but she never knew because she could only focus on getting Cato away from me. I needed to go home. The next morning thresh came into view with the remaining tributes, they looked like they were ready for a fight. We put up a pretty good fight. When I was not looking thresh came up behind me.

"Clove" Cato yelled and but it was to late I was hit. Not that hard actually. He just hit me in the head but it hurt so much. The impact made me fall to the ground. The last thing I saw was Cato running toward us as Thresh gave his winning blow to kill me. I blacked out but I was still breathing and that was what I was so grateful for.

I woke up as I did when I was in the capital. Cato was staring at me with those big green eyes afraid that I would never see my sweet little smile again. Cato and I were that last two people left. We were going to win today and I was going home.

"Penmen people you have your victors," said the intercom.

I looked at Cato but he was kneeling down on one knee. A small diamond ring in his hand. I knew what was coming but couldn't believe my eyes. This is what I had been waiting for for a long time and now that it was here. I didn't hear the words he had said but I could read his lips.

"Yes," I said

I couldn't think. I was now engaged to the boy of my dreams. I was also going home to my family again. I was so happy, I have everything I always wanted. I never thought it would come true. The plane came and we got picked up. We were back in the capital after an hour. I ran to my bed because it was the comfiest thing I had. It was way better than sleeping on the ground as I was doing the past few weeks in the hunger games. I was scheduled for a dress fitting tomorrow for the interview with Cato. I need to sleep and think about tomorrow later.
