PROLOGUE

The heart of the sky was pitch black with serene weather. The stars were formed nebulously. Orange floss circulating about, and the smell of a metallic tang from stainless steel swirling with the fresh waft in the open air. The clouted, half-moon fell its motherly shadow beneath.

It was raining cats and dogs inside a memorial park, where meticulous troops of people in black attires clinched themselves in front of a screened tomb. They were speaking in low voices. The scent of well-wishing flowers eventually filling the air. One after the other, they placed their bouquet over the tomb, creating a medium-sized park garden.

Some were sympathizing. Most were bitter and grumbling inwardly, while others were weeping sorrowfully.

**********************

At the other horizon of the city, a subtle Pininfarina Battista reeved to a halt, opposite an iron mahogany gate. There was an electric input engraved at the top, and two CCTV cameras at each corner of the head.

The pitter-patter noise of the heavy rain altered for a moment.

A blonde man came out of the driver's seat, with an all-black outfit. He approached the back seat and opened the tinted black door as the wind almost blew off the umbrella over his head.

"Boss, we are here"

Inside the car was a young lady, her curious head was inclined to the left side to peek at her family inside the cemetery, but the underlying height of the driver thwarted her view. She didn't bother waiting for the aloof man beside her and haughtily descended from the car.

The blonde man quickly released the umbrella from his head and hovered it above hers. He took a brief look at his boss inside the car for any instructions. But the callous man was tapping his lap with his slender fingers, his eyes unrevealing because he had them shut. Vanity and bitterness repressing his aura. The sweet fragrance of the woman beside him was so refreshing that he wanted to take her then and there. Until after her weight and smell were gone, he opened his eyes.

The cold air in the car caused the driver to pull behind. He was still waiting for his Boss' command. He knew the ruthlessness of this man and abstained from earning the death penalty.

"Boss" He called again. This time, there was a better-off, slight reaction from the man. His eyes were wild and indifferent when he looked at the blonde man. He just conveyed a low quirk nod, stared at his woman's petite figure, and silently looked away.

Like those relatives in the cemetery, she was one of the closest to the deceased. He knew this and told himself never to free her from his grasp, but his conscience told him otherwise. She was clueless about the deceased member, which he too refrained from, but such situations required a final closure. He was a proud, conceited man. A man who hated the fact that his woman was thinking of another man. That's the reason he had authorized her to come…to pay her right for the first and last time.

After her unbelievable rebirth, May deliberately left her family in hope of finding her one true love. After a long time, she would meet them again.

"Let's go," She told the blonde man covering her head with the umbrella. She was cladded with an off-shoulder, ruffle trim blouse, that cuddled tightly around her body and got wet a little as the rain became heavier. Due to her heavy stomach, her walking was a little difficult. Just as the two arrived at the gate, there came a loud call from behind.

"STOP!"

They turned their heads to the back, only to see a blurry silhouette out of the car with an umbrella over his head. His striking figure didn't go unnoticed by the woman's eyes, but she acted unfazed and refused to be affected by his intimidation. Soon enough, he arrived next to them.

"Boss" The blonde man stepped back to give his boss leverage over the umbrella in his hand.

The man blatantly ignored the blonde man as all his attention was on his woman.

"You'll get a cold… I told you to put a sweater on, but you consistently refused" His lowered eyes lifted and bored deep into her hazel-shimmering, yet savage ones. The woman was completely stunned by the sudden closeness of his grey-blue orbs. Those eyes were like stars that glowed, spirited with lights from a hue. Crowned with pearls and silvery intimidation. Seductive as heaven. Heaven, she tried to escape from, but with no faithful luck.

"Why… Why are you here? S…so close" She muttered, her lashes fluttering.

"Keep your voice low, or I'll forget my promise and have my way with you...i am hard now…" The woman zipped her patted lips and never spoke again, but the fury in her eyes could emanate how angry and embarrassed she had become.

The grey-blue-eyed man gave his umbrella to the other man, possessively pulled the woman away from the latter, and unbuttoned his suit buttons. He took it off swiftly and adjusted his footing. He used his thumb to rub the smudge of red matte on her lips and covered her body with his suit. His eyes went back to her fascinating lips, and he felt bewitched.

"You!! Stop staring" The woman warned.

"Shhh!!" He placed his index finger against her closed lips, "This is mine. You dear, are my wife. Mine!!" following that hot and dominating declaration was him slamming his cold lips over hers. He missed this. He missed her body which he had touched some hours ago. His hands sneaked behind her waist and pushed her towards him. He thought the woman would become the death of him one day.

The woman was very shocked and trapped. She didn't know when he had started kissing her. When she came back to her mind, she struggled to flee.

'Ah, boss! Not in front of my salad' The driver sighed, feeling like a third wheel, and looked away.

"You are crazy…this is my family's cemetery…at least, have a bit of respect" She yelled and unintentionally bit his tongue.

The man drew back with a shallow sigh. His eyes darkened when he tasted his blood.

"Hmm? But when it comes to you…my rationality seems to disappear"

"I don't care.....take me to them already" She hissed and rolled her eyes.

"Day, go back to the car… I'll take her" The woman gritted her teeth when she heard his proclamation. Why was he taking her??

The blonde man heeded promptly and left.

"I'll take you and that's final" He asserted again, leaving her no opportunity to embargo.

*******************************

While people left after paying their condolences. A middle-aged man was busy wiping the tears at the edge of his eyes with the use of his handkerchief.

"Father"

Someone embraced his waist.

"I missed you, Father" The man was stunned to hear his youngest child's voice. Did she know?? He timidly eyed a woman parading in front of him to take the deceased photo frame away.

"Father who died? Grandfather? Let me have a look and pay my respect"

The middle-aged man panicked. He shifted her away from the tomb.

The cemetery was clad with golden staff and the tomb was carved with white marble embroidery. There were also silver glass stairs to walk to the grave.

"Dearest, you are here?" He forced a wide smile. Though his brown eyes were still wet, he hid the sorrow in them from her.

"You cried?" The woman teased, "Men shouldn't cry, it only makes you weaker and weaker. If you break down, who will take care of the women?"

Her father laughed.

"Child…impulse…it was out of impulse"

"Child…you are heavily pregnant…you shouldn't have come from Maiden town City…it is very risky. How is my grandchild doing?" Her father reprimanded her.

"I am not a child anymore…will you stop calling me that? I am tired and stressed, so I'll just go and check on grandfather" The man became restless once again. He noticed the man behind his daughter and quickly recognized him. How could he forget those tyrannical eyes? His eyes sternly eyed the younger man, as if to say 'Stop your wife, or your baby dies'.

But not as he foresaw, the younger man glid away indifferently. He even proposed to her, "I'll take you"

"Uncle, stop him" A young girl who looked in her sixteenth mumbled to the aged man. Her eyes were depleted and rubicund from all of the crying. Her favorite cousin was dead. Thinking of it, she burst into tears again.

"Uncle…May won't be able to take this…she and the baby… Stop her Uncle" The elderly man moved away and murmured tiredly "I guess this is for the best"

The young girl wept harder…her tears assorted along with the rain.

Meanwhile, May scrupulously climb the translucent stairs. She refused to accept her husband's hands. While covering his wife with the umbrella, Alex made sure he stood mightily behind her like a shield to prevent any fall.

"Mr. A… Alex, can you go away? I want to be alone with my grandfather. You know…privately" The woman intricate. If not for her pregnancy, she would have been wild with him.

"Mrs. Dargan, this passionate husband can't afford to give his troublesome kitten an easy entry to run with my precious baby…your brain is filled with mischievous schemes and I know you with the back of my hand" His accent was boisterous and cold.

"Take that back! Now!" She induced coldly.

'Passionate husband, my a**!! You are just a crazy horny bastard!" She grunted inwardly

"Take what back? My troublesome kitten" He teased, his lips curled in a witty smirk.

"I hate you!! Mr. Alexander Dargan" She gritted out, with her hands balled into a fist. She looked away from him and pushed closer, reflecting her presence.

"And I am grateful for this confession… Mrs. Dargan…but It gets sweeter when those whimsical lips will merge with mine and how you'd squirm under me when I…."

"Stop! Shameless! You are so shameless…speaking nude while standing on my grandfather's grave. No decency" The woman glared at him. Coincidentally, the man also locked eyes with her. His smirk narrowed at her cute glare.

"One more seductive look from you, trust me I'll have my way with you…in front of this grave and your family… I don't make empty vows"!

"You!! Argh!!" She tried to push his words to the back of her head and went ahead to the grave. Her lips were curled upward but didn't quite reach her eyes. The glitter in her eyes brightened on seeing the well-carved tomb. It looked extravagant and so beautiful.

'Grandfather must be in heaven by now' She mused.

Slowly, her eyes took heed of the person in the photo frame. Seconds, and minutes passed, but no reaction emanated from her. The man behind her, though the surrounding air was icy, a part of him was, nevertheless, still so possessive and hurt. He specifically waited for her yells and cries. He preferred she knew the truth now and forgot the person quickly. She was his wife. His. Having another person in between them was problematic. Truth be told, if his baby dies under these circumstances, it'd be better than having a child without a wife. He had many more chances to impregnate her over and over again until she accepted reality.

"May…you've paid respect. It's time to go…"

"This is not true" She murmured, her eyes glued onto the handsome face in the picture, "No! This isn't true" She coughed out, her throat stud and barred. It was like a ticking bomb was hurled at her and hence, erupted all over her body.

"I won't repeat myself…let's go" She twirled around and faced him. He was baffled by her expression. She didn't look like she was crying or anything. Her face was calm and reserved. A complicated feeling arose in his heart.

"He is not him…it can't be him at all" She assured herself "X… Xavier promised…he would see me the next morning…nothing happened…nothing…this is not him, just an imposter, right… Yes! Right!" She shook her head and cupped the man's face. In response, his grey-blue eyes shot wide open.

It hurt him even harder.

She met his eyes, "Right? He didn't leave me, right? Tell me…please" Her last plea was aggrieved.

"He is dead!" His cold reply disseminated inside her red blood cells, trotted into her veins, and dived into her heart.

*BAM*

"You are lying to me" She didn't believe it, but the truth was in front of her. She refused to believe that the man who promised to meet her the next day was now gone. He hadn't waited for her return, for their incomplete dating….the one-sided love. He couldn't be so cruel to her, right, "Xavier never breaks his promises…you are a terrible man!! You cheat!! Lying to me"

Alex clamped his jaws, his blood was boiling as the filled rage in him accentuated. There arrived an abrupt growl of thunder and an attack of lightning, while the rain got heavier and heavier their clothes weren't spared, but the quiet air between the two made others behind scared.

"Get a grip on yourself…my child is in that tummy! Accept the truth…he is dead. Dead!! And buried!! You are a member of the Dargan family…don't make me break one of our rules. He is dead!" His every harsh word pierced inside her pure heart. She opened her mouth to breathe…she refused to believe him… Xavier never lies to her.

"You are a liar!! You've been the nemesis in my life. Why won't you just disappear and leave me be? You monster!! Why must I be the one to carry this bastard child?" She roared out. Alex tightened an arduous grip on the umbrella stand. He was provoked. How dare she call him a monster!! He was her husband.

"That's our baby, May. Don't say crap about my child"

May dropped her shoulder and hissed "This is my baby, not yours, and will never be. He is mine and Xavier's child. I will be giving birth to Xavier's child because we are a family" She yelled aloud.

"We are leaving here, with or without your permission" He grabbed her wrist and dragged her out of the tomb, but she blatantly bit his hand and resisted.

"But if it is true that he left… I have nothing else to live for… I don't love you, don't care for you, not even this baby. He was my only love, but now…he is gone…it would be fair to him if I followed along"

Alex stiffened like an electric volt blasted his entire body, causing his blood flow to cease. He knitted his brows in disbelief.

"You'll heartlessly murder my baby?"

"Not your baby!!" She screamed. She hated to admit that the baby was his. All this happened because she let it live. If she had mercilessly murdered the child then, Xavier...

Another wave of shock ceased Alex when he was aware of her shivering shoulder. She was crying.

"Do you think you'll escape from me so easily?" He sneered, "What's mine has forever been mine!! Whether you accept it or not, I will never let you die. You are stuck with me"

"It's all your fault…you killed him. I wasn't able to see him before he left…he didn't inform me of his death…" She wiped her tears and mumbled "Xavier wake up please…who'll help with the company if you are gone. I get advice from you, but now, who will supervise me? You all are dying on me…

First, it was mother, then Stepmother…now it is you. I have never broken down like this because I hate weakness…look you are making me foolish... get up please."

Alex heard her remarks of expression and jeered. He ran a hand through his strand.

'His death is still a comprehensive problem in my path'.

He still recalled the last meeting with that man before he died and his last words.

'A pearl is ever glowing like the circuit of bright shimmering stars just like her. Colors glow in light and darkness manifests at night, just like her love. Stay with her…that's my last wish'.

To him, love was like the sky and the rain. It was rare to see the sunshine while the rain fell. That was how his relationship with her was. He was the rain, while she was the sun.

May unexpectedly drop to the wet surface, with her hand holding her stomach. Suddenly, the smell of pungent blood mixed with the snowy air. The water on the floor was now stained with blood. She growled in pain while touching her belly.

'The baby…my baby. Xavier's child! No'

She mumbled…a bit after, darkness soaking her into the emptiness.
