"I wanted to make someone clean this place, but I was hoping you'd come back soon and clean this," Endon said, facing Chrome.
"Thanks for waiting for me, Endon," he told his old friend. "As soon as I get the important stuff, let your staff clean this for me, will you?" He said as he moved towards his bookshelf.
"Alright... Here I thought I'm going to see you clean your own place," Endon said jokingly. "Anyway, if you marry my daughter, you're going to live in my mansion in the exclusive VIP village..."
"There you go again, pushing your daughter to me," Chrome chuckled, reminiscing their old conversations. "How many times will I have to tell you? We can't. I'm a mutant. And I'm just 23."
Endon laughed at his answer. "Mutants are humans, anyway! And by the way, excuse me, but you're just 2 years younger than my daughter."
"You're ridiculous," Chrome said. He was always in this kind of conversation with him. Even though Endon Soland is already in his 50's, he had requested Chrome to just call him by his name. "I know that I saved your daughter from those kidnappers, but it's not a whole valid reason why we should be married..."
"Alright, I'll stop, and tease you some other day," Endon chuckled. He knew that Chrome had a crush on his daughter way back then, that's why he was always teasing him.
He met Chrome from his tycoon friends who had already made a shady deal with him. Though at that time, Makylee Highrise Condominium was in a negative state, and he didn't have enough money to pay him. But out of Chrome's kindness, he accepted it without any guarantee for his payment. Endon then told him that he will reserve a highly secured unit for him to stay. They became unit neighbors and became close.
Chrome blew the dust that accumulated on the covers of his books. When he noticed the ledger he was looking for, "Ah, here it is!" he said. He opened it, and looked for the list of the latest transactions that he had. He kept a ledger because he preferred doing transactions in cold cash to minimize the possibility of tracking his place. He would give the physical cash to Endon to convert it to digital cash, which he could use anywhere. He flipped through the pages and saw the name of the person who he last transacted with.
"I'm going to take this, as well as my other documents," Chrome told Endon.
"Alright. Where are you going to stay?"
"In my ally's place."
Endon pulled out his wallet, and took a card. "Here, take this. It's your old credit card named under me."
He took the card and said, "Thanks."
Kayle and Chrome traveled to the exclusive VIP village of Makylee City where the Angeldame residence is located. There was tight security, but since Kayle was always visiting the rich residents in there to transact business, the guard knew him, and made him pass through. The high metal gate with a carved lion's head opened as soon as they saw Kayle's car. He parked in front of the mansion, and opened a large wooden door which also had a carved lion's head. Chrome was fascinated with the hanging chandelier with diamonds. The butler led them in the hobby room, where there stood a billiards table, a dart board hung on the wall, and there were some equipment for exercising. Dr. Dexter Angeldame sat on the billiards table, looking at his phone. When they got in, the butler excused himself and went out of the room.
"Hi," the doctor greeted them. "How are you feeling, getting out of that facility?"
Chrome replied, "Sir, I feel great."
"Good," he said. He then lit a cigarette, and the smell of burnt grass filled the room. "I'm Dexter Angeldame. Sanno's father."
"Sir Angeldame, I'm Chrome. Sanno was assigned to me," and they shook hands.
"I've heard a lot of things about you from Sanno," he told him. "He said that you're a very obedient mutant."
"Yeah... I felt like I was brainwashed by my Assistant Scientist. I was not really the type to be obedient," Chrome explained, since he couldn't find a reason why he suddenly stopped being rebellious. Maybe he just got tired of attempting to escape, but venting out sessions with Roy had been the greatest factor for his obedience. At this point, he didn't even know if Roy's an ally or an enemy. "They caught me because I infiltrated the facility for my mission."
"You were a spy?"
"Something like that. An undercover agent, maybe," Chrome replied.
Dexter blew smoke and said, "Can I ask, what was your mission?"
Chrome approached Dexter and showed him the last page of the ledger where he had written his last transaction. "This man had ordered me to get the research facility's blueprints." He pointed at the man's name, and it was...
Varus Hiddleworth.
The second son of Amanda and Oliver Hiddleworth, who were past politicians. He's currently working as a congressman.
"The Hiddleworth family is really interesting," Dexter said, as he put out the flame in his cigarette by pushing it roughly in the ashtray. "What else did he say?"
"We didn't talk much," Chrome explained. "I'd just receive the orders, pay me half the price before the mission, and then the other half after."
"So now, you have a debt," Dexter said.
"Yes, so I need to ask him if he'd like a full refund or let me continue the mission."
"You should steal the blueprint. Besides, I'm very curious too, what's in there. It might be another evidence against them," suggested Dexter. "So, where is it located?"
"In the Head Scientist's office. The cabinet's third drawer, the one behind his chair. Although I doubt that it's still there. I held it in my hands, but when I looked back, they were pointing stun guns on me." Chrome said.
He vividly remembered the pain of torture that he experienced back then. He woke up in an unfamiliar room, and Paul Azirean was the one who interrogated him. He had a lot of cuts from his butterfly knife, and it was the Head Scientist who stopped his violence and forced Chrome to stay as a mutant in their facility.
"I should get in touch with Amanda's second son, then," Dexter concluded. "I have to know why he wanted that blueprint." The doctor lit another cigarette. "Kayle, both of you should rest. I prepared two guest rooms for both of you."
"Thank you doc!" Kayle said, excitedly. He wanted to rest his stiff shoulders.
"Thank you, sir Angeldame," Chrome politely said. And the two tired men got out of the room.
Dr. Dexter was left alone. As he smoked his favorite cigarette, he looked through his phone and searched for the Hiddleworth family's information. Since they're a bit famous, it wasn't hard to search for them in Goople web search.
