Melancholic

Kita worked quickly, Time was short and he needed to do many things in this small time frame. He had already wasted much of the time being knocked out and sleeping in the med bay. And as the notification of continuation of the mission was sent out, he knew that he'd only get a single chance. So he needed to make it count.

As Kita worked on printing out the final parts and then checking them to make sure they met the specifications, he also needed to figure out a way to power this whole thing. It took an immense amount of energy to run thing thing. Although the Shore's on-board fusion generators could easily handle the load, he didn't have any convenient options in his lab. He needed to patch into the main energy line that fed the Scanner in his Lab. It would be a pain to setup, but it's definitely possibly.

Hours went by as Kita finally finished the machine that could theoretically produce the Anti-matter that he wanted. He didn't have the time to really test it out. He'd only get One shot at this. So he needed to fly blind and hope for the best.

He wasn't flying all blind though. He still had the theoretical information in his head, he matched everything over and it all checked out. If everything went as calculated, there was no need for testing. But that wasn't always how it goes.

As Kita put in the last piece of the puzzle, he took a step back and marveled at his latest invention.

It was big, standing about 3.5 meters tall, It was round in shape, with many different nodes, power lines and other stuff hanging all around. It had a single chamber. This was where the anti-matter would be produced. Kita didn't have the time to give the exterior any finish. So it's metallic exterior looked quite rugged.

"Just like one would expect from a first prototype.", Kita sighed as he was satisfied with it.

He still needed to power it though. It needed an insane amount of power, The only power source in the lab that could power this thing would be the Heavy Duty power lines running over his head that was feeding the Lab Scanner. It was also an energy guzzling machine. So it received extra care from the central power lines that ran throughout the whole ship.

Kita wanted to tap into the power line to power it directly. It should easily be able to handle the load without anyone knowing.

So Kita got to work. He quickly donned on his Anti-gravity backpack and then proceeded to float to the celling of the lab, He began to call up schematics of this lab to know where he could access the power line. He quickly found the wall panel that he needed to remove. He removed the panel and went in. He found a plethora of energy lines, data and communication lines and other things running through out the maintenance hatch. Most didn't concern him. His only concern was the thick shielded energy line that was going to the Lab Scanner. Needed to find the breaker board the energy line terminated to. He didn't even try to cut it to access it, it was too protected. It was also really dangerous to remove it protecting shielding. If Kita wasn't careful, it could electrocute him really easily.

He soon found out a breaker board that he could use as a connection point. He quickly connected his machine with the breaker and everything was ready to go.

Kita came down from the maintenance hatch. He quickly removed his gear and went to the terminal where he had the controls of the machine. He was about to start up the machine when he suddenly remembered something.

He moved to one of the tables where picked up a small cube. One could see the inside of the cube quite easily through it's transparent sides. While the cube seemed really simple, It was actually a high-tech container designed to contain the generated Anti-matter without any complications.

"Almost forgot about this. Let's get you in your place.", Kita said as he moved towards the machine.

Generating Anti-matter was hard enough, but storing it was even harder. As if any sort of matter came into contact, it would combust immediately! And the energy it would release would be more than anything fusion reaction generate. For this reason, it needed to be kept suspended inside of a perfect vacuum.

This small chamber was designed for such purpose. Along with the creation method, Kita had also gotten the methods to store it properly. So he had designed this chamber that would hold the Anti-matter in a perfect vacuum once generated.

Kita opened up the chamber of the machine and slowly put the Cube in it's place. The Cube retracted inside of the machine and everything was ready.

Kita went back to the terminal. After some preliminary checks, he started up the boot sequence.

The Machine used XENON to generate into Anti-matter. For some reason, the method Kita received used XENON, and only worked with XENON. It wouldn't work with any other elements. Kita named the Anti-matter generated from Xenon 'Kenon'. Why? He wasn't sure. He just felt like it was a good name.

The Boot up sequence had finished, the Machine was ready, Kita had already loaded up a cannister of Pure XENON.

The machine would basically release a single atom of Xenon inside of the production chamber before attacking it with an array of different rays and beams. This would cause the individual molecules of the Atom to turn into it's negative state. Electrons would turn into Positrons, Protons would turn into Antiprotons and so on. The key was in the sequence and the amount of the rays thrown at it.

Too much and it would self-destruct. Too little, and it would self destruct. It needed to achieve the perfect balance to turn the all the individual particles in the atom to it's anti-particle, but not more.

Once the atom was turned into it's Anti-matter version, it would then be moved into the Cube that Kita provided. Where it could be stored.

These steps would be then repeated for all the individual atoms. One at a time. It was a bit time consuming. Everything needed to work perfectly. One small mistake could be catastrophic.

Kita started the process. As he looked at the terminal and the machine. This was the crucial few moments where he would find out whether all his efforts were in vain or not.

Just a few moments later, Kita got the notification of a successful cycle!

Kita's Eyes lit up! This meant that there was a single Xenon anti-matter inside! He had succeeded!

He got the notification of another! This Continued on as atom after atom was being turned in anti-matter.

Kita's target was about 500 Grams of Anti-matter. He had done the calculations. That was all the anti-matter he needed to destroy the Monolith.

Kita calculated the time it would take to make this much anti-matter, it amounted to a little over 13 Hours. This was doable.

Kita sat back on his chair as he looked upwards. He had a melancholic expression on his face. He missed Helen.

"Do you see this Helen? I'm soo close. I wish you were here to witness this…" Kita gave a long sigh as he reminisced about the past.

Hello again! Thanks for reading and supporting my work. I needed to research a few things for this chapter, so it took a bit of time. But I promise to finish this arc as soon as possible. I hope you're enjoying it so far. I've got great plans for Kita in the future. As always, leave your thoughts, comments down in the chapter or paragraph comments. I'll read em all! Thanks <3
