HELEN!

Kita came back to his room aboard the shore. He decided to take a break from everything going on. He entered in the bathroom to take a nice shower. After Freshen up, he decided to tidy up their home. Helen would be back soon. So he wanted to welcome her with a warm home.

He looked around. Everything was already as neat as it could be. There were automated bots that tidied up everything. He had nothing to do. This bummed him down a bit. But then he got an idea. He began to work on his idea when he suddenly got a notification from Dr. Kbom.

He wanted Kita to come right now.

Kita looked at the time, there was still a bit of time left before Helen would be back. So he decided to go and finish the talk with Dr. Kbom now.

He quickly put on his lab coat and then headed out. He headed straight for Lab Vite.

He quickly reached it and opened up the door. Inside Dr. Kbom was standing in front of a big projection that showed B1 and some other overlays.

"Doctor, you asked for me?", Kita said as he approached him.

"Ah, yes, Kita take a look at this. There's something we missed.", Dr. Kbom said as he pointed at the projection.

The Projection was of the lines network of the B1. It showed all the energy lines that spanned throughout the planet.

"I was analyzing the overall energy distributions of the planet when I noticed it, There are other places where the energy lines congregate into a greater structure other than the Monolith.", Dr. Kbom said as he pointed at the projection.

Kita began to look at the places Dr. Kbom highlighted. It wasn't really clear at first, But if one looked closely enough, they'd notice the similarities between the sites Dr. Kbom marked and where the monolith was found.

"So does this mean that there might be other similar monoliths all across the planet?", Kita turned towards Dr. Kbom for his opinion.

"This could indeed be the case.", Dr. Kbom nodded.

This was big news. This meant the monolith or monoliths were more important than anyone realized.

As Kita was storming his brain about the implications of this discovery, There was a sudden beep.

Both Dr. Kbom and Kita looked towards the big projection to see what that beep was about.

It was from the recently implemented monitoring sensors that were planted on B1. These were planted all over the planet to monitor different things about the planet while they were away.

"That weird, The energy levels in the lines are suddenly increasing for some reason."

"Doesn't it already happen every time the energy in the lines pulses?"

"Yes, but the levels aren't coming back down. They are still rising."

Kita suddenly got a very bad feeling. He decided to give Dr. Helen a call right away to see what was going and make sure that she was safe.

He pulled up his hand and gave Dr. Helen a call. It started ringing shortly. As he watched the projection of the call, he held his breath. Rising energy levels were usually a sign of activity, but the energy in the lines were already really high to begin with. If they increased even further, this could potentially be a big problem.

His heart sunk when Helen didn't pick up the call. There was something wrong. He could feel it. There was never an instance where she didn't pick up his call.

He racked his brain on what to do. He got an idea and called her assistant.

The lady immediately picked up the call. Her projection poped up. A worried look on her face.

"Dr. Kita, I'm glad you called. I was trying to reach you."

"Where's Dr. Helen? Is everything okay there?"

"No, It's Dr. Helen. She's doing something dangerous." She said as she changed the projection.

It showed Dr. Helen walking towards the monolith. She wasn't responding to the calls from the other people that were calling her. He could hear their calls. But it didn't seem like Helen was responding or even hearing them.

"No! Helen. What happened there?"

"I don't know. We were packing up everything when suddenly I noticed she was already approaching the Monolith. I tried calling, But…"

"I don't care what you do. Stop her. Get her back to safety."

"We can't do that. We've already tried to get her back. But the Monolith won't let us get close to her. Everything and everyone who's trying to get any closer are getting deflected."

"What do you mean by that. I don't care what you do. GET HER BACK." Dr. Kita was furious out of his wits. He had totally lost it.

Kita could see that Helen wasn't focused. She was never like this. She was one of the best in her field and not being focused isn't how one got to that point.

"We're already trying our best."

Kita watched as one of the vehicles tried to go near her. But as soon as it crossed an invisible boundary, it was violently deflected back. Damaging the vehicle greatly!

Helen was almost at the Monolith by now.

"Don't just stand there, Call out to her!" Kita yelled. He was furious.

The assistant didn't waste any time replying to Kita. She began yelling out of the top of her lungs.

"DOCTOR HELEN! PLEASE RESPOND!", Her vac-suit was broadcasting her voice at the loudest setting available. But to no avail, she didn't react to anyone.

As she reached the Monolith. Stopped in front of it. The monolith was an order of magnitude bigger than her. It was hovering over her like a huge machine.

"HELEEEEN!" Kita yelled through the Call. He yelled out of the top of his lungs. He pumped out all the air in him through that single word.

He felt helpless. There was nothing he could do. God knew what was wrong with her. Why she wasn't responding to anyone. She was in such a dangerous situation and He was stuck back on the spaceship. He blamed himself for this.

'I should've gone with her. I should've stayed beside her.', Kita thought to himself as he watched.

Suddenly, her body jerked. He could see the tiny motion and a ray of hope arrived. He yelled again!

"HELEEEN! HELEEEEEEN!"

No response. His heart sunk. He was racking his brain on what to do when he saw the scene that would haunt him for the rest of his life.

Helen's body started to hover in air. It gradually gained altitude and reached the same level as Monolith. She hovered on the air for a couple of moments before suddenly, in one swift motion. Her whole body folded onto itself.

And again

And again

As if it was done with it, the lifeless body was tossed outside of the perimeter of monolith like a bag of chemicals, meat and bones. All packed up in a vac-suit.

Nobody witnessing the scene uttered a single noise. As the body crashed onto the ground, there was only a thud noise.

In a sudden blinding flash originating from the monolith, The call was cut off.
