Chapter 8: Post Exams

"Izu, can you please help me get the door?" Izuna asked her older brother. She was sprawled on the sofa and had no intention of moving from the spot she was in.

"Yeah, I'm on it," Izuku said as he went to the door. He opened the door to reveal Denki and Minoru.

"Hey guys."

"Yo. Let's go to the pool," Denki said as he was grinning from ear to ear.

"The pool?"

"Uh-huh. We got the school pool reserved for training."

"Of course I am down for that." It was hot outside and the water would feel great on them. He turned and gestured them into the house. "I'll go get my stuff."

"Who was that?" Izuna asked as she saw her brother's messy hair from where she was.

"Denki and Minoru. They invited me to the pool."

"Pool. Can I come?"

"Sure. I don't see why not. Can she come?"

"Of course."

"The more the merrier."

Izuku could swear that there was a strange glimmer in their eyes when they responded to that.

"Yay," Izuna said as she picked herself up from the sofa and ran towards her room.

Izuku took his phone and began to text someone on it. It was his mum. She and his dad were out on a nice stroll, despite the weather being hot. Maybe they went to get ice cream.

It took a while before she texted back. They had approved of the outing.

While they were in the locker room, Izuku decided to ask a question.

"How did you guys come up with this idea?" he raised an eyebrow at them.

"Well we are Heroes in Training," Minoru said with a smirk. "Plus Ultra!" Obviously they had an ulterior motive. They had overheard that the girls of their class were going to be using the pool and they decided to come alongside them.

Izuku knew about this and had come up with his a little of idea of his own.

When they ran to the pool, Denki and Minoru were a little surprised to see the entirety of Class 1-A present. Immediately Denki turned to Minoru.

"Our plans are ruined," he whispered to the purple haired boy.

"No it's not. We just need to find the girls. They must be in their swimsuits by now." His eyes were filled with hope. From the look that Izuku was giving them, the green haired boy must have called the others here.

He and Denki ran to the other side of the pool but what they were greeted with was not in anyway what they were expecting. The girls were there alright, they were wearing the school issued swimsuit and that left nothing to the imagination.

Denki was disappointed but not Minoru. He was happy to get anything.

Denki turned back to Izuku. "Why are the guys here?"

"I invited them," Izuku said quietly. "We are going to be doing a little endurance training. I thought it would be ideal before we go for the bootcamp."

Just then, Katsuki walked in, hand sparking with little explosions. "I am ready for the death battle," he said as he let loose a huge explosion.

Izuku shook his head. "Rather than a death battle, how about we see who can swim fifty meters the fastest."

This was something that they could all get on with and to make things interesting Izuku added something to the equation. "The winners get bragging rights in the class." Now they were all the more eager to win this.

Izuku announced the pairings and each of them were ready to get on with it. Surprisingly the girls were ready to watch the race, eager to cheer their favourites to win.

"The First Pairing, Mineta, Bakugo, Tokoyami, Kaminari and Koda."

The boys all took their place as they waited for Izuku to blow the whistle. As soon as he did, all of them jumped into the water. All except one person.

"Explosive Turbo," Katsuki shouted as he blasted himself across the pool and over to the other side. He didn't even deep a single toe into the water.

This was a shocker but not really. Katsuki had always been able to pull surprises out of the blue.

He stood on the other side waiting for the others to come as he flexed his muscles.

"That's no fair," Denki said as he got out of the pool and got into Katsuki's face. "You didn't swim."

"Of course I did Pikachu," he said with a grin. "Ever head of freestyle."

Denki was about to say something but he didn't as he turned towards Izuku who turned towards Momo.

"It checks out," she said with a nod.

"Allowed," Izuku said as he turned to them.

Most of them looked disappointed but at the end of it all they went along with it.

"The Second Pairing," Izuku started. "Hanta, Rikido, Eijiro, Yuga and Shoto."

The boys got to the starting point and each one of them had only one thing in their minds. "Freestyle!"

As soon as the whistle was blown, Hanta shot a tape from his elbow as he tried to rope his way to the other side. Rikido took some cubes of sugar as he bolstered his strength and dove into the water and swam for his life. Yuga shot himself forward with his laser.

While all this was going on, Shoto just froze the water and slid across to the other side. Once he was done, he unfroze it and released them from their frozen catacombs.

Izuku grimaced slightly. The freestyle was getting out of hand but he couldn't stop it especially since quirks were just an extension of a person's body.

"The Final Pairing," Izuku yelled. "Izuku, Tenya, Mashirao and Mezo."

He along with the others made their way to the starting point and waited patiently for Momo to blow the whistle. As soon as the sound of whistle was heard by them, they shot off. Tenya placed himself on the ropes that divided the pool and propelled himself forward with his quirk.

He would have won if not for the fact that a One for All boosted Izuku hadn't been in the same pairing with him. In the end, Izuku won and it was time for the final round.

Momo was the one making the call and this round involved the winners from the previous pairs; Izuku, Katsuki and Shoto. What had turned to a simple race was now a death race by Katsuki's standard. He had proclaimed that he would murder the both of them.

The tension was felt by the rest of their classmates but in spite of this something odd was going on. They were making bets within the stands and it was none other than Eijiro that was the orchestrater. Once all the bets were placed, Momo was ready.

"On your marks."

"Get set."

Sparks rumbled from Katsuki's palm as he wore a murderous grin on his face. Shoto was calm, his breath sent out chills from within his body. He was ready. Izuku was smiling as green lightning danced around him and it looked like he had a plan.

Momo blew the whistle.

As soon as the whistle sounded, Katsuki lunged forward with Explosive Turbo. Shoto had frozen the entire pool and was skating across it while propelling himself with the flames he could produce. Izuku had pretty much expected for Shoto to freeze the entire pool, so he did the next best thing. He took a small jump as he was powered by Full Surge and as soon as he felt his feet on the ice, he leapt forward with force shattering the ice beneath him immediately.

All they could make out was him shrouded in a strong layer of lightning with which he crashed shoulder first into the pool pavement, causing a small explosion.

On seeing Izuku in front of him, Katsuki slammed his palm on the pavement causing an explosion. He had come in second with Shoto following behind him.

Izuku tried to hold his body upwards as he felt dizzy. Momo called the race in favour of Izuku but was slightly traumatized at the amount of damage they had caused.

"Who won the bet?" Minoru asked.

"Who wagered on Midoriya?"

All hands were down, all except for Ochaco's.

"Guess she won it all huh?"

-Break-

After the little race, the remainder part of the day was spent training and doing some exercises under the trainer, Katsuki.

He was brutal to the core and ensured that all instructions were carried out fully.

It was only a matter of time before Aizawa came and dismissed them, informing them that they had used up all the time they had for the day.
