Prelude to battle

It was already morning and I felt completely recharged.

If I remember correctly, It won't take much for me to face my first villain.

Or villains.

And yeah, I'm totally not counting the sludge villain.

I bet that almost everybody had already forgotten he even existed.

Since I first received their encrypted message, I had been in touch with Gentle and La Brava.

From what I can see on the internet, they had returned to their lives as digital influencers.

Though I have to be honest, their new plan of achieving fame was actually pretty good this time.

If not a little derivative from what I was doing before them.

They are now "heroes" like mumen rider from One Punch Man. Though in Gentle's case, I'm pretty sure that he is capable of holding his own in a fight.

The couple's past misdemeanors weren't forgotten, but since Gentle stopped using his quirk freely, he and La Brava stopped being anything close to a priority for the police or heroes agencies.

In his now more light hearted videos, Gentle shares his dreams and fears while also updating his followers on how well his efforts of becoming a hero are going.

Yup, you heard me right, he now has actual followers that respect him and his work.

Nothing much beyond a dozen people, but as I told him, it's better to have few people that really understands and supports you, than to have millions of followers that will immediately forget about you when you make your first mistake.

I am still working on how to legally make him a hero, some minor details involving bureaucracy and possibly the aid of some advocates are still necessary, but I'm not worried that he will eventually succeed.

As for La Brava, I kinda get the feeling that she is beginning to see me as her second idol.

I still haven't met them personally since the time I first met them, so her quirk is still out of my reach.

But I'm patient.

A little.

The little prodigy hacker might also aid me in finding some characters that are currently hiding from authorities.

Yeah, that will be awesome.

Now, as for the other person that's beginning to see me as his second idol.

Izuku Midoriya.

We see each other during our break time in U.A, and we also text one another.

Man, that reminds me, I really have some difficulty in remembering how to write his name.

Anyways, from what I heard from him, he is already tinkering with some support items.

In fact, he told me that during his first day, his class was presented to the hero course's costumes.

Midoria told me he was a big fan of my costume.

I told him some of the scientific specifics about it, and to my surprise even he didn't understand it.

I should've known better, although I'm not a genius, I'm still miles away smarter than the average teenager at my age.

Back to Deku, I showed him Momo's and Yui's quirk, and he immediately went overdrive thinking about good combinations of quirks.

He theorized that I might even be able to create support items that might be capable of reproducing the effects of some of the quirks that I had copied.

I see what he is doing, still haven't given up the chance of having a quirk to himself.

But if his idea eventually proves accurate, I see no problem in doing so, I might eventually compete with Re-destro in regards to supporting item manufacturing.

Although, to manipulate Momo's quirk to that extent, it would require a tremendous boost in my intelligence.

Frankly, One for All should in theory be an option for me to achieve it.

But All Might never made any progress in that regard. So I would be basically starting from zero.

Though I wonder if principal Nezu's quirk, High Spec, will be enough.

Or maybe should I try to mix it with that student from Seiai Academy?

Wait, can I even mix quirks to that extent?

Food for thought.

Now back to the present, the news that All Might had been hired as a faculty member in U.A really took the entire nation by surprise.

Naturally, the media swarm the school after a story.

Everyone wanted to get their hands on All Might.

Even the first version of the league of villains.

It's a real shame that I don't have time to intercept a decaying boy.

But I guess I will have another shot in the very near future.

For now, I'm just about to approach U.A and it appears that the large group of reporters still haven't given up on meeting All Might.

But today they are even more desperate, asking the students in a manner that one could even consider harassing.

The swift enhanced jump allowed me to avoid any hassle. Plus, with Inasa's quirk to control the wind, I'm capable of doing it stealthy.

And when I look at the entrance, I see a very persistent reporter in particular, questioning everyone that made a move to cross U.A's front gate.

"Hey you! Can you tell us what it's like to work so closely to All Might?" She asked a distracted Inasa.

He just smiled and puffed his chest. "I believe he is a truly hot-blooded hero! I freakin' love it!..."

With all his passionate speech the crowd thought they had found the perfect candidate to interview, but Inasa suddenly remembered that he was almost late to class and left.

The reporter however, was still wanting to hear more about All Might, she acted as if her job was depending on her performing an actual interview with the number one hero.

Uraraka approached the entrance while paying attention to the gathered crowd.

"Are you one of All Might's students? Tell us how is the symbol of peace in person?"

"Uh... what's he like? Well... uh...he is super muscly! Yeah." But the air headed girl got shy at the attention and left.

"How is he faring as a teacher? What are you learning?" The reporter questioned Iida.

Her question awakened Iida's serious mode as he spoke everything I would expect a reporter of quality would want to hear. "His leadership and wisdom reminds me on a daily basis that I attend the world's most prestigious education institution. Of course, he is the personification of honor and integrity that one would expect. But he is also not afraid to show his students a more humorous side. It's truly an unique opportunity to be under the direct tutelage of the pro we all admire."

To my actual surprise, most of them became bored of him.

C'mon, I know he needs to learn how to relax, but he didn't lied nor said anything stupid.

That just serves to make me more sure these people are not really reporters, but actually lowly paparazzis or common digital influencers.

Even Bakugou got annoyed with them.

Well, not that actually means something.

He is always annoyed.

With all this fuss, Aizawa thought it was necessary for him to actually intervene and request for them to stop harassing the students.

The annoying woman got frustrated at his casual dismissal of them and attempted to trespass.

But U.A defenses manage to lower her resolve.

Yeah, don't have time to meet a fanboy of Thing Addams.

Now, back to class.

Surprisingly, Aizawa began his with a small praise to the class because of our training with All Might.

"Let's get down to business. Our first task will decide your future."

Most students immediately became tense at the teacher's implication. The idea that he might attempt another quirk test loomed in their minds.

"You all have to pick a class representative."

And so the class mood immediately changed from worry to glee.

But as it seems, everyone wanted to be the class representative.

In a normal class, this position would only mean extra work. But here in the hero course, it's a way of getting noticed by agencies and prove that one can lead a team like a pro.

Ironically, to silence everyone, Iida shouted. "Silence everyone, please! The class representative duty is to lead others, it's not something anyone can do. You must have the trust of every student in the classroom. Therefore, the most logical way to fill that position is democratically. We will hold an election to choose our leader."

Well, color me impressed. The dude has the guts to say that with a straight face while making it pretty obvious that he wants to be elected.

The class began arguing if an election among people that barely knew each other might not be optimal.

Aizawa just got ready to take a nap while giving the class a free pass to do whatever we wanted.

So we did just that.

...

The election results:

Inasa Yoarashi 0

Shoto todoroki 0

Momo yaoyorozu 3

Neito Monoma 5

Katsuki Bakugou 1

Eijiro Kirishima 1

Ochako Uraraka 1

Ibara Shiozaki 1

Itsuka Kendo 1

Tenya Iida 1

Fumikage Tokoyami 1

Yosetsu Awase 0

Kinoko Komori 0

Tsuyu Asui 1

Shihai Kuroiro 2

Yui Koda 0

Toru Hagakure 0

Mezu Shoji 1

Reiko Yanagi 0

Kyoka Jiro 1

"Wow." I said faking my surprise.

"Okay you idiots, who voted for him?" Bakugou shouted.

"Did you honestly think that anyone would want your ass as class representative?" Shihai replied while hiding his own annoyance.

While they began arguing, Uraraka just played coy and began whistling.

Iida was visibly frustrated. Even though he received one vote, it wasn't enough.

"Alright, the class rep. is Monoma and the deputy is Yaoyoruzo." The teacher announced.

"Congratulations Momo." I said, still insisting to act charmingly.

"Oh, thanks. I guess for you too." She replied a little disappointed at herself.

"Hey, can I tell you a secret?" I continued with a whisper.

"Sure... I guess."

"I voted for you!" I delivered this information before winking to her.

"You did? Th-thanks... uh... Neito." She blushed a little.

I just smiled in response.

After a brief introduction to what my new position required from me, our break came.

Lunch Rush's Eatery.

"It's always so crowded in here." Uraraka joined me and made small talk.

"Probably because students from all courses share the same cafeteria." I answered.

"Precisely." Said Iida, who tagged along without asking.

Anyways, Inasa is still picking his food and Shoji has already eaten.

So the three of us seated in the available seats we found. But it didn't take long for the hot-blooded Airbender to join us.

"Man, I love the food from here!" He said before digging into his food.

"Buddy please, have some manners, we have a lady with us." I requested him.

He just smiled and made his best effort to savor the food in a more adequate way.

"I got to say classmate Yoarashi, you really are a curious type." Iida Said to him.

Uraraka couldn't help to snicker at him. "You aren't one to talk about that Iida."

"I-I of course meant that with the utmost respect one can muster to his own classmate." Iida tried to explain himself.

But Inasa just laughed.

Iida began talking to me about the responsibilities of being class representative and said he had voted for me.

How considerable of him.

We all knew he had some experience, since his older brother was a famous hero.

Though Uraraka was really excited about Iida's family being wealthy, Inasa couldn't help but be a fanboy to Iida's brother.

I guess I forgot to tell him about it before.

Talking about Ingenium was enough to make Iida smile. And Uraraka noticed it as well.

Looking around the cafeteria, I noticed that Momo was about to make her way towards our table when suddenly.

RING! WARNING! LEVEL 3 SECURITY! PLEASE EVACUATE THE BUILDING...

And so, all hell broke loose.

Most of the students began panicking at the possibility of an invading villain.

And as we gathered to leave the building, the halls got completely filled.

People were pushing each other without composure. It was a mess.

And now was my time to shine.

Sorry Aoyama... and Iida.

Using Momo's quirk I created a mini megaphone, and with Yui's I made it slightly bigger than a regular one.

Then I activated Ochako's quirk and made myself weightless.

A light jump was enough to make me float above everyone.

After activating the megaphone, I announce in a loud but serious tone. "Please calm down everybody! There's no need to worry!"

A little flick of my finger allowed me to steadily make my way towards the exit signal, but I didn't cling to the wall, I just hovered nearby it.

"Everything is okay! It's just the media outside! We are U.A's students, we need to remain calm and prove that we are the best of the best." I announce with my best portrayal of a decisive and clear public speaker.

As my words began reaching everyone, they appeared to be calming down.

The ones close to the window immediately confirm my short speech.

And so, my debut as Class 1A representative happened.

It's funny.

In the canon, my previous host was famous for bragging that class 1A wasn't the best.

And to his credit, I think he had a solid case, but didn't phrased it in the most constructive way.

I mean, who was the genius that thought that it would be a good idea to divide the classes without considering the students' scores in the entrance exams.

Was it principal Nezu? I highly doubted.

But I digress.

From previously antagonizing and being disliked just as much by them, I've come a long way.

Now, let me get back to class.

...

PM 00:50

"Today's training will be a little different. You'll have three instructors. Me, All Might and another faculty member will be keeping tabs on you" Aizawa announced.

So it's finally time.

Today is the day we go to the USJ.

"Sorry sir, but what kind of training should we expect?" Kendo questioned with her hand raised.

Aizawa showed us a card and spoke. "Rescue, you will be dealing with natural disasters, shipwreck and stuff like that."

"Yeah! Cool!" Inasa shouted but wasn't left alone as the rest of the class began following his example.

"Guys, I'm not finished yet." Aizawa silenced the class with little effort. "What you will wear in this exercise is up to you..."

Yeah yeah, costumes and stuff.

Not sure if all this fuss is annoying me because it always had or if it's because I copied Aizawa's quirk.

Fortunately, being famous and influential is still something I desire, so I'm not that worried from possible side effects with my quirk.

But still, I need to keep tabs on myself and make sure that a split personality is completely out of question.

"This special training is an off training facility, so we will be taking a bus to get there. That's all, start getting ready." Eraserhead said and left the classroom.

'Alright, let's do this.' I think before cracking my neck.

After leaving the building, we gathered close to the parking entrance.

"Hey, Monoma. Apologies for my rudeness, but wouldn't it be better if you oriented the class to form lines so that we can enter efficiently into our transportation vehicle?" Iida approached me and began suggesting how I should act as class representative.

"Please, I'm always open to suggestions." I kept my charming act while replying politely. "But in this case I think it won't be necessary Iida. You see, I've already looked into it and discovered that the bus possesses an open layout."

"I-I see, how wise of you. I shouldn't have expected less from our class representative."

Yui apparently had listened to our conversation and remarked. "When did you..." But as we turned our attention to her she just said. "...never mind." And kept walking.

After a few minutes inside the bus, the students began to make small talk.

"Hey, can I talk to you?" The frog chick seated besides me asked.

"Of course, It's always a pleasure Tsuyu." I replied.

"That power of yours, I mean, the one you used to leave the training ground yesterday, isn't it a lot like All Might's?" She finally connected the dots.

"HaHaHa! I see that my lack of subtlety had finally spoiled my secret." I laughed.

"Huh?" I heard everyone nearby stopping chatting and paying attention to me.

'I guess my initial plan of staying inconspicuous didn't predict my flashy nature.' I mentally sighted.

"Yeah that's right. My quirk, contrary to what many may have originally thought, isn't actually strength enhancing. I named my original quirk as COPY. As I've already said during class, it allows me to duplicate and use another person's Quirk." I spoke to the captive audience.

Todoroki began staring at me, not sure if it's a good or bad sign.

Even Momo began listening to what I was saying, and I've already told her.

Bakugou was probably the only one ignoring me, or at least attempting to.

"So... does it means..." Kirishima gulped. "That you really have the same power that All Might has? That's insane!"

"Ha! I wished that I was as half as cool as he is using it, but yes, I do possess a copy from All Might's quirk." I chuckled before lying.

I've already discussed with Toshinori, and we both concluded that my quirk will be the perfect excuse for showing off without compromising his secret.

Aizawa couldn't help but to stare and grunt at me.

C'mon teacher, why so suspicious?

"Man, I bet it must be really cool to have a powerful quirk like that." Kirishima then raised his arm onward and activated his quirk. "My hardening is super strong and can destroy bad guys in a fight, but it doesn't look that impressive."

I took the chance and mimicked his action after removing one of my vambraces, my arm assumed the same form as his, if not a little bulkier because of my rigid physical training.

Since the entrance exam, I know that if I activate One for All alongside any quirk I copy I can boost it to impressive levels.

But I will refrain from doing it so casually, better save some aces in case I find myself in a tough situation.

"Please, don't make less of yourself. I'm completely sure that you are definitely pro material with a quirk like that." I compliment him.

"Wow! Unbelievable! You really can copy others' quirks! Man, we gotta spar sometime in the future." Kirishima got hyped seeing me mimicking him.

"Be careful Kirishima! Monoma is a really tough man!" Inasa commented.

"Yeah right, no one ever beat me before!" Said Shihai with a wide grin.

"Well, if any one of our classmates has Pro's quirks are you Monoma, Yoarashi, Todoroki and Bakugou." Kirishima said.

Momo and Iida got annoyed that their names weren't listed as well.

But at the mention of his last name, Katsuki finally decided to pay attention to what we were talking about.

"Sure, but Bakugou is always angry and the others two can't work alongside another hero, they probably won't be that popular." Asui said to me.

Man, this frog has courage to make fun of the strongest students in the class after me.

"What did you say? I'll kick your ass!" Bakugou shouted at her while Inasa and Todoroki just stared at one another.

"You see?" She pointed out.

"You know, we basically just met you, so it's kind of telling that your personality is garbage." Shihai rubs salt into Katsuki's wound.

"You will regret the day you applied to this school you loser!" Explosion boy began insulting everyone that dared to underestimate him, while annoying Jiro, who was sitting just beside him.

I gotta agree with canon Midoria, seeing Katsuki getting teased is really something special.

"This turned into such a disgusting conversation." Momo remarked.

"Yeah, but It's kind of fun listening to them fight." Uraraka replied to her.

"Hey hey! We are here! Stop messing around!" Was Aizawa's order.

"Yes sir." The class replied back.

After we parked and left the bus we met our other teacher, Thirteen.

"Hello everyone, I've been waiting for you." She said in her white space suit design using what appears to be a puffy jacket instead of an actual suit, having a black helmet with white eyes, and a pair of yellow boots.

Some of my classmates began making cheerful noises that I'm almost capable of ignoring.

I looked at the building behind the rescue hero, and let me tell you, it's really fucking big.

Massive actually.

Never saw anything like it in my previous life.

Noticing my gaze, the hero with a nice voice turned slightly and gestured towards the building. "Can't wait to show you everything that's inside."

As we made our way inside, I noticed the building was composed of eight main sections, with six of them emulating a particular disaster scenario.

Northeast, the ruined zone simulated a destroyed urban environment, with buildings found in precarious conditions.

East, the landslide zone simulated a sloped terrain with assorted debris.

South, the mountain zone simulated a rocky, mountainous area filled with cliffs.

Southwest, the conflagration zone simulated an urban environment that is constantly on fire.

West, the flood zone simulated a maritime environment with a lake, a ship, and even a waterslide.

Northwest, the downpour zone simulated an urban environment that is constantly hit by heavy rainfall and strong winds.

"Holy crap! It looks like some kind of amusement park!" Remark Kirishima.

"I absolutely love it!" Said Inasa.

Thirteen began explaining everything the location she created entailed and said she named it "The unforeseen simulation joint".

But she also said that one could call it USJ.

Though the fact that the initials seemed derivative from another already existing Japanese studio didn't slip the class mind.

While Aizawa went to question why All Might wasn't present yet, I made sure to memorize the USJ's complete terrain from up here.

Who would have thought that going out with that girl back in school would've been so useful.

As thirteen proceeded to make her speech about the greater the powers the greater the responsibilities, I made sure that I had everything I needed miniaturized in my pockets.

But just after she finished and Aizawa ordered us to move...

BZZZZZZZZZ SNAP!

The lights around the domed ceiling surface began to burst and a black portal began forming in the central plaza's fountain.

"Stay together and don't move!" Aizawa immediately assumed his hero role. "Thirteen, protect the students!"

"Look! Down there!" Kendo shouted.

"Wait, is that part of the simulation? I thought we were going to learn how to rescue people." Kirishima remarked.

"Stay back!" Aizawa shouted, stopping those that were moving forward. "This is real! Those are villains." He said after putting on his glasses.

Yeah, it's finally time.
