Kill her!

"What took you so long?" Old guy Julius asked as he looked at Melia who stood in front of him, carrying the small bucket.

Melia grinned innocently at him, "I met the lake spirit, grandpa! His name is Alois! Brother Alois is so nice!"

"Lake spirit?" He blinked a lot before he realized what she meant. He never expected that a day will come where someone will be able to see the monster in the lake.

"Melia, never get close to the lake spirit, okay? If he asked you to do anything, don't. You are not to go to the deep waters of the lake." He warned.

"But why, grandpa? The lake spirit was so nice, he said that he will teach me how to swim.." She said, pouting.

"No! You must promise me never to go to the deep, there are dangerous creatures lurking in the deep." Julius lectured. It was going to be dangerous if she will swim in the lake. He sighed and patted her head.. "Promise me not to go to the deep, okay Melia?"

Melia looked at him and pouted before she nodded in obedience. "Okay... Melia promise, grandpa."

Julius took the small bucket from her and smiled. "Good girl. Now, I should go prepare lunch."

"Grandpa?" Melia called which made the old man stopped from his tracks.

He turned to her and smiled, "Yes?"

"Can Melia still go by the lake to talk with the lake spirit? I promise to stay by the shores only, please? He is Melia's new friend."

The old man looked at Melia who was pleading to him, he sighed. 'I guess it will be fine as long as she remained by the shore.' He thought.

"Okay. I'll allow you, but only until the shore, okay?"

"Really?! Yay! Thank you, grandpa!" She hugged him by his leg and grinned. "Melia will help grandpa make lunch!"

...

Ever since that day, Melia would always come visit Alois by the lake, declining every offer that he gave her because of the promise that she made with her grandfather.

The longer Melia spent time with the spirit of the lake, the closer they got to each other. Even Alois was starting to get fond of the little Melia.

"Brother Alois, look at what I made!" She grinned at him who was just there in the water, looking at her.

"A flower crown. "

Melia grinned and nodded, "This is for brother Alois, and this is for Melia!"

"I cannot wear anything girly like that. I won't."

"Eh? But you said that you were once a king... A king needs a crown so I made brother a crown.." She looked at the flower crown sadly.

He looked at her for a while, the warm tingling sensation in his chest grew upon hearing the child's words. A small smile appeared on his lips. He felt touched by what she said.

"Give that to me. Let it float on the water."

She looked at him and blinked. Was he going to accept it? She grinned happily at the thought. She placed the flower crown on the water and allowed it to float there until when it floated in the middle, the flower crown sank in the water. Alois disappeared from the water's reflection by the shore.

Melia wondered at this, "Brother?" She called for him as she stood up and walked by the shore, trying to find him. "Where are you, brother Alois?"

She started walking towards the rocky side of the lake, there were big rocks that was leading to the deep part of the lake which Melia decided on jumping and climbing rock by rock until she reached the end, standing there.

"Brother Alois! Where are you?!" She shouted, looking at the water. She looked down sadly, "Did you not like Melia's flower crown?"

Melia was disappointed and she sulked when he didn't appear. She was about to walk back but she ended up slipping on the rock, making her fall on the deep waters. "HELP-"

Splash!

Melia tried her best to swim up. In the end, she didn't know how to swim, the water around her pulled her down because of the pressure. Her consciousness was fading since she couldn't breathe. The light that reflected against the lake's water started to fade as she went deeper. She tried reaching out to something, anything, but there was none she could hold on.

Someone... Help...

Just when she thought that no one was going to help her, she felt someone grab her hand. She saw a faint figure of Alois, holding her hand, pulling her to him.

"Clumsy girl, you should have waited for me."

Alois kissed her forehead and with that, Melia started breathing in the water, she gasped and her eyes widened. "Brother Alois!"

She saw Alois wearing the flower crown that she made which made her forget their situation for a second. She was staring at him in awe.

Alexander gently smiled at her, "Come, let's take you back."

The child snapped out from her trance and remembered that she was under the lake. She looked around and saw that there wasn't any fish, the lake was so empty and gloomy. She tried reaching out to a coral but then, a snake appeared and bit her finger.

Alois' eyes glowed red when he saw the snake, he grabbed it by its tail and when he did, the snake turned to ashes. "Don't touch anything under here."

Melia's eyes became teary as she looked at her bleeding finger. "It hurts... "

Upon realizing the blood, Alois' red eyes glowed once again, seeing the blood that flowed out of her finger. He held her wrist and placed her finger in his mouth drinking the blood.

Melia flinched in pain and her tears flowed together with the water. "Brother Alois... It hurts... It hurts.."

Upon hearing Melia's cries, Alois snapped out from wherever his thoughts brought him. He looked at her with wide eyes before he snapped and regained his composure.

"I'm sorry." He touched her cheek before he kissed her finger, making her wound heal all of a sudden.

But just then, his head started aching. Kill her.. Kill her.. Kill her...

"Let's get you out of here." He tried his best to fight off the voice in his mind as he started dragging Melia back to the shore of the lake.

'Don't let her escape. What are you doing? Kill her! Her blood... We need her blood!'

Alexander quickly let go of Melia's hand when they reached the shore, he clenched his hair tight. "Be quiet! I am in control of my body! Go away!"

Melia stood and she looked at the water. "What's happening? Brother Alex! Are you alright?! Brother Alex!"

She tried touching him in the water but Alexander slapped her hands away.

"Don't come near me. Go back to your grandfather." He glared at the little girl before he disappeared from the water.
