Becoming Dungeon Fodder

[WPC 318- Dungeon] The world became a mess, with various gates opening everywhere. When special squads made by the government went in there, they could find different creatures inside it; some looked humanoid, while some were the embodiment of true beasts. There was panic everywhere, but it all went away when the special squads returned with a unique gift; they had started manifesting powers; some became very strong, while others had unbelievable powers looking like magic in real life. It all happened by killing the creatures inside the gates that humanity came to call 'dungeons.' After that, people started getting a 'system' telling them how strong they were. Just like that, several centuries passed, with humanity gaining superiority again. Kyle was also an ordinary evolver until a lousy situation led him to become a completely different entity he had never imagined. Follow his journey of unveiling the mysteries behind the so-called 'System'

'Huh... am level 1 again,' He said, feeling disappointed.

'It's weird seeing my stamina as max and the pain resistance too... it means no pain, but that's a given, I don't have anything but bones...' Kyle thought while he tried making a punch, with the left hand.

He was able to control his body just fine.

'Of course, these fucking bones had such a cheat with them... But now I am the one with this cheat too, Do I cry or laugh?' Kyle shook his head with a hoarse sigh.

It was difficult looking at all this as 'real' but even if this was not real, Kyle knew he was dead so even if this was after life, he had no choice but to accept the situation as it is.

Kyle looked around and found himself in a dungeon hallway. It was narrow and looked endless from both sides.

'Come on, Kyle, choose a side; one leads you to the exit while the latter gets you leveled up.'

After thinking for what seemed like a minute, Kyle went forward with the rusted sword in his hand. The pathway was long, and Kyle had to walk for a while.

If exiting the dungeon meant meeting humans then Kyle didn't know if it was a good decision, his race had changed now.

At last, the hallway ended; Kyle saw around ten skeletons with typical swords in their hands. They looked towards him for a while but again went on ignoring him.

"Hahahahaha....free grinding!" The laugh was so hoarse that Kyle sounded no less than a demon.

CLANK!

CLANK!

CLANK!

The sound of his heavy footsteps resounded in the big room. Kyle was running at what he felt was the highest speed according to his body. No matter how much he tried to increase speed, it just didn't happen.

He swung the sword at the Skeleton, who normally walked away from him. The head was cut clean and it dropped with a thud.

The skeletons looked at him; he could not discern their thoughts. But something weirder happened.

CRACKLE! CRAACKLE! CRACKLE!

CRACKLE!

Their mouths opened and closed creepily while the color in their eye sockets shone a little.

'The fuck?' Kyle didn't know what he did but it seemed like the skeletons did not see him as an ally anymore.

One of them pounced at him. Kyle just evaded the attack; while his body was level 1, his mind was that of a level 5 evolver.

He was weak but not as weak as the brainless skeletons.

SWING!

The Skeleton's arm flew back; Kyle went for the kill piercing the head tip first with the sword. The skull cracked easily. He knew all about the Skeleton's vulnerable head parts. Being conscious of them, he protected his weak points while exploiting theirs.

The skeletons fell to the ground one after another. They kept attacking without restraint, making Kyle excited.

"This is so exciting! I don't feel fatigued."

The sound of a devil laughing resounded, with the skeleton bodies dropping one by one.

[EXP +10]

[Level up!]

[3 free-to-use skill points gained]

Kyle attacked them without stopping; only 4 of them were left until the floor was cleared.

The Skeleton's attack power was not great at all, and their sword skills were very lousy, with only some regular slashes.

[EXP +10] [EXP +10] [EXP +10]

THUMP!

All of them fell with a loud sound. They were just too weak. Kyle looked at the last one with seriousness. He had planned something for it.

It attacked with a vertical swing, Kyle evaded it without worry and kicked it. The Skeleton went some steps back but struck again.

He did that for some time for practice.

"No hard feelings, brethren. But the upper levels could be dangerous. I will have to get used to this body before leaving." Kyle made some small talk with the Skeleton till he deemed the practice ended.

"Thanks!" He said in a hoarse voice.

SLASH!

[EXP +10]

'This is weird. I am not at all tired. It's like I am a war machine that can fight endlessly without any worries of exhaustion...'

He looked at the stairs for a while and, with a sigh, went walking towards them. There were about 50 steps before he saw another narrow path; the dungeon was a straightforward one. Kyle didn't know how many floors there were, but he knew things would get cleared after some time.

The narrow path stopped, and Kyle saw another big room. About five skeletons were normal like before, while 2 of them were different. The duo of the Skeletons had a different aura, with plate armor on them. The sword in their hands was also looking better than his.

"Swordsman skeletons?" he questioned not knowing what they were called, suddenly, he gained the attention of them for a while before they ignored him again.

Kyle first went to them and looked at the skeleton swordsman closely.

'Tsk...their head and body are protected with the chest armor. I don't think their sword skills will be lousy...'

With all his might, he readied his sword and swung toward one of the swordsmen Skeleton.

CLANG!

The Skeleton's shiny sword stopped the sword. Kyle frowned but had no facial expressions to show it. He attacked again and tried to hit the Skeleton on the head, but it evaded at the end, swinging its sword horizontally.

Kyle ducked and protected himself at the end moment.

'That was close, but now it feels like fun,' he thought and increased his speed.

He was surprised after the skeleton evaded his attack at such a short range.

"You might have defeated me when I was truly your level but today's just not your day," Kyle said in a hoarse voice.

Connecting the sword again, he punched the Skeleton's ribs, making it lose a step. Then, in an instant, Kyle swung vertically at the Skeleton's hand, cutting it off cleanly.

CLANG!

The sword with the hand dropped to the ground. The other skeletons on the sidelines attacked too. Kyle invaded some and killed many. The sound of notification bugged like the time before his death. Suddenly he dodged, and a vertical swing came on the place he was standing before.

"Damn Skeleton, trying to be sneaky!" Kyle roared and attacked, alas, the Skeleton was not that fast and got hit on the neck. Its skull broke at a weird angle making Kyle creeped out. He kicked on the hanging skull making it go like a soccer ball on one of the walls.

[EXP +15]

He killed the remaining level 1s and looked at the swordsman skeleton whose hand he cut during the fight. It had attacked various times and Kyle kicked it every time.

"Now's your time," Kyle said picking up the sword on the ground. He threw it toward the Skeleton that desperately caught it with its left hand.

"Our fight begins now!" Kyle grinned looking at the Skeleton pouncing at him wildly again.
