Rome's mother called him on the day when the director made the announcement.

She confessed that she was feeling guilty for hiding the truth from Rome.

She admitted that the photos of Olive and Jack were edited by a professional. They weren't real.

Olive and Jack weren't anything more than friends. She didn't like Olive, that's why she did this.

She also said that she just wanted her son to find someone better because according to her,he deserved someone better.

Rome was angry at his mother but disappointed with himself. He was beating himself for not trusting Olive more and for being this much careless.

Just cause of his foolishness, he missed 10 years of his and Olive's life. He missed Olive's pregnancy. He missed the birth of his son. He missed Silas's first word. His first step. Most of his childhood but not anymore.
