Anathema - The Curse

We kiss the sea with a violent passion. Everyone is screaming all around me. The plane is drowning in the passionate dance of the sea and the rain and we are definitely not enjoying the thunder as music. The window panes are beginning to crack from the pressure of the water fighting to embrace.

Carter awkwardly rushes to open the door. I don't know what to do. I just know that this cannot end like this.

Yesterday, I had my whole future ahead of me. It cannot end like this, Deva.

Gregor and I hold each other's stare and communicate silently like we always have. We rush to unbuckle our seats. As soon as we were freed from our respective seats, we stand up only to find the water rushing into the plane. Looks like Carter opened the door. We don't have long.

"Everyone get out of the plane." Gregor shouts.

"But-Greg" everyone screams.

"Now" Gregor snarls.

I rush into the pilots cabin only to find both pilots all unmoving in their seats with a steady stream of blood oozing out of their heads.

I run out of there only to find the air hostess taking out several parachutes and everyone clutching whatever little bags they had.

"Sir, use the parach-" a sudden enormous tide slams into us cutting off Carter's words and sending us into the deep freezing bottom of the ocean.

I could see everyone around me drowning into the ocean. Greg, Anya, Luca, Noah, Grace- they are all drowning. I could see the broken parts of the plane floating on the surface so far above me.

The water was trying to rush into my insides. No, this is not the end. No one can defeat me without my will.

I tried to push up, swimming through the ocean but Deva, it was difficult. Swimming in a raging sea was so different from swimming in a pool or a lake.

No. You can't let this defeat you, Swastik. I push up and swim and swim towards the surface and clutch at the wing of the plane that has been ripped by the terrifying storm.

I find the precious oxygen and drag it into my lungs. It seems like Noah and Luca followed me up.

"Anya?" I say through my shattering teeth.

"Others… Inside…" Luca speaks through his trembling teeth.

The three of us panic. We take a deep breath and dive headfirst into the sea again.

We cut through the ice cold sea. I can see only three figures in the dark, cold surroundings. We look at each for a second and rush towards the figure closest to us. I reach out to feel a delicate and soft and a feminine hand and rush to the broken wing.

When I reach the surface, I once again clutch the broken wing and push the girl onto it. It was Grace. I grab her and rub her back while she spits out the salty water and gasps.

Suddenly I hear a sound close to me and see Luca pushing- Thank you, Deva- Anya on the wing. I try to reach out and help him and Anya's trembling body on the wing.

While Luca and I try to calm the girls, Noah cuts through the surface and grumts, "Greg… Help…"

I rush towards him like before and help Gregor on board.

Thank you, Deva. Noah, Luca and I help the others and rub their bodies back to life.

There are no big waves crashing into us right now. While Luca performs CPR on Greg, I hold the trembling bodies of Grace and Anya and try to warm them while Noah dives into the sea again. We are all trembling to the core.

Suddenly, Greg jerks back to consciousness and spits out the salt water he swallowed.

"Are you.. ok?" I ask him.

"Cooold…" He replies.

"We should look for other survivors-"Luca says when suddenly Noah swims out of the water and climbs onto the wing.

"There's no use… there's no one left." Noah gasps.

"Be thankful we are alive, bro." Grace says. " Looks like the storm is dying, there is still rain but there are no big waves. We will survive this."

Suddenly, a big wave crashes into us.

Spoke too soon, Grace.
