Chapter 2: Fear the light...

Untold misery welled up inside the heart of Kyrios as he saw the corpses of his 'kind' strewn for what appeared as miles in this dark foggy forest of the land of their cursed world.

Their world was not even allowed to have a name, it was a nameless world. Known only by its moniker of being a 'Cursed world'.

He felt like crying tears, but his eyes were dry and bruised. The crazed expressions on their faces even as they died was like a knife cutting through his heart.

His breathing quickened and became deeper, more information was forced into his brain that had been strained by his body. At moments like this he wished that he did not have this uncanny ability.

For with every breath, he was able to taste, what he assumed were the emotions of those that died, moments before their death. Dead, never able to walk the land of their 'cursed' home.

For him, these emotions were so raw that he did not need super comprehension to be able to know what they entailed. They were like an overpowering stench of rot. Rot so deep and putrid that he wanted to curve out his lungs. These emotions were like a chain wrapped tightly around his soul.

Among these emotions, there was fear and trepidation upon their death...

Then there was the crazed anguish...

A hint of madness and smoldering fury...

But common among all these, was the crazed search in the depths of their emotions. A search that had seen no end even upon their deaths. And it seemed like they carried this obsession into their death, driving their wandering souls into madness and insanity.

What did not know was that these emotions and their maddened obsession, led to a phenomenon. A phenomenon where they would coalesce into what seemed like a black amorphous gas of light. This gas would then be absorbed into the sky. And according to some guesses, they were the cause of the sky's gray color and chaotic state of their land, since it would be covered by a perpetual dark fog throughout the year.

Once the emotions reached a point of saturation in the sky, they would form clouds and fall as rain.

This rain would fall on their land and pollute it further. Making it a barren world with death teeming in all its vegetation, they had no waters to nourish the land.

What replaced the water were rivers of black condensed emotions. The black rain filled the gallies with its water, further killing the land.

What made him wonder was that it was like the others were not aware of the falling rain nor the black rivers, that flowed through their land. it is like as if they had chosen to ignore it completely. Though he wondered what the rain and the black was made of, he felt a familiarity between it and the emotions he was able to taste from the dead, he did not give it much thought before.

He heard the weeping of their souls, the roar of indignation, the howl of fury as he smelt their emotions. But for once he did not feel the need to suppress their screams. for with every emotion gone, his will was sharpened. and like a forge, he was being tempered in a crazy blaze of emotions.

And while he felt the need to remember their pain, he could not wait long here otherwise he would not survive long enough to see the next day if he remained in this place.

Danger was fast approaching. He had to move, and he had to do it quick. But he did not have enough energy to even move an inch from his position.

He hated what he had to do next, but he had to. Otherwise, survival for him would a pipe dream. And so, using all the energy that had just been generated in him, he moved to the corpse next to him, and with so much hesitation he bit into the skull of the corpse.

With every bite, he felt like puking his guts out, but he forced himself to continue onwards. he kept on telling himself that this was for survival.

He had to survive and to survive he had to do anything necessary, even if it meant feasting on the corpses of his 'kind' he would do it. He had siblings to get back to, though he felt sorry for the dead, even when he desecrates them, he would do it.

But there was something unnatural about the corpse, it looked unnatural, to say in the least. It was like an amalgamation of flesh, of parts fused and tied together in a red skin suit. In fact, all the corpses here were weird. But Kyrios called them his 'Kind'. He did not seem to think weirdly about them.

But that did not mean that everyone else would see them as normal.

Kyrios, was a being born into a 'cursed race'. 'Cursed' for that is what everyone else called them. And they suffered for it.

For war had been waged on them. All he has ever known from the moment he was born, was war. A war his 'kind was losing very terribly. It would even be an insult to call it a war. Instead, it was supposed to be called a massacre, a slaughter, a genocide. Calling it a war was just a way for those races to exalt themselves on the moral high ground.

One would think that they would have been extinct by now, but for reasons unknown and fickle. They held on, deep in their blood and their very being they would stay alive until they found what they were searching for.

This search for what was stolen from them, drove them to survive with all their might, they knew no fear, they knew no surrender. All they knew from the moment they were born was to fight...

To struggle with all their might...'Survive....

'With every fiber in your being, find what is rightfully yours...

'Do not rest until you have it once more...

'Do everything in your power to survive.

These were the ironclad rules, principles, no, in fact one would call them Divine edicts curved onto their existence from the moment of their conception.

Males and Females alike, were ferocious to the bone. Tenaciousness was a way of life for them. Their ferocity was so high that the heavens could break from the sheer weight of their combined will.

And yet that all meant nothing in the face of 'The Light'.

Apart from searching for what was stolen from them, they knew to fear 'The Light. From the moment they were born into this 'cursed land, they knew to fear 'The Light.
