Chapter 16: Legacies (3).....

Inside the darkness, Kean stood before the looming gate of the Vault of Light, nonexistent wind blew his black canvas hair furiously. The viscous shroud on his back had been trembling imperceptibly from the moment Kean came next to the Vault but Kean did not notice anything.

He stood there freely floating in the darkness that was his psyche as his Obsidian grey skin shined with a metallic sheen reflecting the light from the wings. His tattoos had somehow become even more prominent from the moment he entered his psyche, but you could still not tell what they trying to put across. at best they were chaotic, at worst you could break your mind.

But they could not hinder sight of his muscled body curved into perfection that only marbled works of art could have. Even his bone mask did not lessen his charm, if you did not know that it was his face then you would swoon for his mysteriousness. But the oddity came with the dry blood that flowed from his empty sockets until form a patch work of marks that probably would not go away unless he commands them to do so.

But his charming nature seemed to end there as the aura that came from his being was so suffocating that reality seemed to shrink and compress under the effects of his rage. Reality screamed in fear, it sought to warn its children of the horror on their doorstep, but it could not, all that remained was for it to cry, a fruitless endeavor indeed.

His rage intensified more and more, the more he thought about the slight on his claret.

As the darkness in his psyche quaked, the globs of molten light trembled. The declaration Kean had made seemed to rouse something inside them and they began to scream in terror and horror. A great darkness started to devour them from the inside out.

ARGHHHH!!!

"No....forgive us ...!! We were only trying to survive, spare us.... No takeaway the pain, take it away, take it away, please...please. We have suffered enough."

They begun to plead in sorrow. Kean merely shrugged and said,

"Not to worry, what is happening is simply for your own good. You now have the chance to be a part of something more, something greater than all your lives, previous and those that would have been. Rejoice, for this chance only happens to some, your Karma has seen you fit to serve my Legacy, a little bit of pain is nothing before the glory of the days to come. so, for now, bear with it, you will rise anew, like a phoenix from its ashes. The Legacies of your Lineages will do well for my Heralds. You shall become part of my reign; rejoice for I bring you salvation"

Arghhh!

Arghhhhh!

They wailed and cried until they could no longer cry, and with that the globs of light, gained shape once more. Now shaped like miniature versions of the feathered prisons that once held them. But gone was their light and now in was the color of darkness, with hints of black gold.

But from their feathered bodies, Keans eyes rose like malignant tumors throughout the body. This continued on for some time until it ceased, when the eyes collected into one large eye on the middle of the feather.

The Dual irises swam in their black orbs for one rotation and then they closed and vanished like as if they were never there before. The feathers continued to decrease in size until they were the size of a small finger. Floating in the darkness they came to Kean's hand. They settled and trembled like little children.

A gold light flashed like a metallic sheen on them, then their movements became still like inanimate objects.

Collecting these feathers in his hands he said to himself, "it seems like my work is done here."

Looking back at the Vault that still did not react at his show of power, he thought' ill surely conquer you one day.'

Turning away from the Vault Kean moved a great distance away until he could not see the gate that could stretch into infinity. With a breath he disappeared, and the darkness retuned to its stillness once more.

*******

In the temple's hall, the moment, the hearts had started to be devoured by the molten light inside Kean's psyche, the children including Kyrios screamed in agony as the clutched their chests. The pain was just too much for them to comprehend, it felt like they were being burned from the inside out. If it was not for a mysterious energy that started rotating in their bodies' then they would have gone crazed.

But a few moments later, the pain vanished like an illusion, they even forgot what had happened a few moments back. They went back to playing around with each other as they waited for Kean to come out of his meditation.

They had eaten to their fill and no remains were kept to remember the Queen that never was. Only her crowned skull remained, and her luscious black pelt of fur that looked like a starless night were spared, a testament to her suffering. The pelt had been hijacked by the girls, who could not seem to get enough of it.

They did not have to wait long as Kean stood up from his chair in the next moment and looked at them. the kids noticed that his eyes seemed to be a little bit empty, every feature was still there, with even the swimming dual irises, but they had lost any semblance of majesty they once held.

A sound woke them up from their confusion and the wind roared again to relay his message. " The time has come little ones for with me I bring you, Legacies worthy of my Heralds, and honor to finally have a name."

The children all stood up from their chairs, went to the floor and bowed in solemn, silence pervaded the entire hall as the only sounding in it were the roars of the wind, which sought to pass on the commands of the entity.

Looking at the Kyrios and the children, he could not help but get excited of the future, looking far off into the distance, he seemed to see far off into the future.

He said to them, "The time has come children of the chaotic brood, the era is upon us. You have gained the honor of being named by the darkness that engulfs all. The darkness that was that is and that will. The bottomless nothingness."

"You have lived long enough with no names and now the time has dear ones. Come to me children and embrace the gifts of the Deep Dark, give in your light, and become the envoy of its gaze"

Kean lightly touched the table that had borne witness to feasts they shared a relic of things of old, and it crumbled into dust. With the space have been created, Kyrios and the children all knelt before Kean as they awaited his beckoning.

" Let us begin"
