Chapter 14: Legacies......

While they feasted, Kean had finally reached his destination.

He came and stopped in front of a particular part in the darkness of his psyche though you could not really tell any difference.

Looking at this particular part of the darkness, he could not help but get excited at what he had come here for.

"Open the Vault of Light" Kean said in an almost overbearing voice, laced with the Eledrachie Tongue, it resounded throughout the darkness of his mind.

He commanded and the darkness listened, for in the next moment, it trembled and quaked.

With its quake all sound was extinguished, all terror withered, all hopelessness vanished, and the coldness of the Void was erased.

An unimaginably large looming gate materialized into existence from seemingly nowhere all most like as if was there from the beginning.

To describe it to a mortal mind, would be to damme t to the caress of the vile mistress of misery and misfortune.

From the Gate, cries of a great multitude of Heavenly beings poured like floods spanning entire galaxies. The sorrow, madness and pain that was contained in their cries would taint anyone who heard their sorrow.

But Kean was clearly unaffected by the cries coming from the looming gate. In fact, he seemed to enjoy their maddening screams.

A Gate that could easily make for a whole universe just by its sheer size. But even with its size, it could not seem to stifle the grandeur of Kean.

The Gate was designed to look like a black stele. Dark just like its surroundings, if not more. but onto the dark stele there was an extremely large pair of folded wings. How they were held onto it, no one knew.

Each of the wing's feathers were surrounded by darkness, but that did not seem to stifle their beauty. The feathers themselves were made of beautiful Light that sought to spill from their confines of darkness outlines. The dark outlines formed what appeared to be the design for each feather making each individual feather as beautiful as it could be. but in fact, it was just a facade, they were nothing but a prison, meant to contain their light.

If not for the cries that were emanating from it, then this would have been a sight for the Eons.

Whether by design or not, the Gate was split into two sections which was clearly divided by a single line of light that went through their middle like heavenly pillar, separating the two wings. but it did not seem necessary, Afterall they were individually different.

The two sections were remarkably different from each other, The light emanated from the feathers on the left wing, appeared red like blood, but to simply think of it as that, would be a testament to the simplicity of the mind. For while that was how it appeared, in fact it was not.

These were just mere expressions of intention...or what they held...but unfortunately Kean himself could not see much of its details. Just the color alone was almost breaking his mind.

The light from the feathers on the right wing appeared to be a white-grey wing, if not for its light it would have blended well with the stele it was on.

Standing before this Gate. He lost himself in thoughts. 'It seems father did not lie. I can finally have access to it.

To say he was excited, would be an understatement, in fact just seeing this sight alone, one of his goals could be considered complete. And now he was even allowed to use it for his plans and his games.

' With this, I will be able to find mother, and become even stronger. Father said he did not know how strong we would become when we choose to use it. he said, that becoming anything we want to, is not impossible. I'll have to lay down my plans if I am to become unique compared to the others.

' It seems am losing track, again. Hunh, I should train my mentality, I cannot afford to use the principles of The Deep Dark in the Light of Creation unless I want to become an embarrassment to the Erebus name. Father even refused to name me before I left. How disheartening.

'Go and prove that you deserve a name he said, how painful it is to walk around being nameless. I basically have no identity. But the name I chose will have to work for now. Ill carry it in my next rebirth.

' I'll have work hard to earn the Erebus name, and I'll be the first to earn it, otherwise being a first born will be nothing but holding a paper crown on my head.'

' Now then let us focus on the Legacies of my Heralds.'

'Hmm what Legacy shall be fit for them.'

Kean looked at the gate in wonder. he contemplated which Legacy would be fit for them. But he did not expect that his first roadblock would come this early.

' This is becoming harder than I thought. And considering their bloodline lineage, it will be hard if I only choose to Favour one side, yet they have equal potential for both.'

'But why am I wasting my intelligence on this, I'll just give them a fusion of each side, when they become stronger, they can do what they wish to modify it in their specific directions, but for now, this will be a good foundation for them.'

Having thought a bit long and hard he decided to just go with this solution, though he knew it had repercussions. fusing things did not always mean a qualitative improvement but he was willing to take a risk on them. and considering that they had his blood mixed into theirs, it shouldn't be that bad right?

Hesitating no longer, he reached into the dark shroud on his back, and from it he removed, thirteen obsidian-stone grey objects.

These objects were the abject size of a fist, though some smaller than others, but that did not change the fact there was movement form each of them.

But it was faint to the point that their movement would have been missed. Taking a closer look, one would certainly be able to tell that these were hearts. Bloody beatings hearts!

Looking at these hearts, Kean sighed.

" Luckily, I chose to do this ceremony fast enough otherwise the hearts would have died, and I would have had to repeat the process of cutting the children's cavities once again, then surgically remove their hearts and then provide them with sustenance at the same time just so as to stimulate their body to grow another heart while keeping them awake at the same time. Then place them under stasis right after for a year or two to give time for their systems to heal and harmonize once more."

"Hughh...what a pain it was, I even had to erase their memories just so that they would not have aversion towards me.... Hehe, but I must say, their physiology was just so interesting I was almost tempted to open them up everywhere and abandon the plans for other pawns. But luckily my sense returned before I went to the point of no return. And they should be thankful that they are one of a kind specimen. And them being my Heralds would give me a leg up in this race."

" Ohhh! am getting sidetracked again. Anyway, back to the point."

Kean observed the hearts with a feral reluctance but eventually managed to look away. Looking towards the gate or known as The Vault of Light. He spoke a command in his tongue whether he was speaking to the gate, or the hearts was unclear, but his voice still sounded out.

"Resonate...claim the legacies you see worthy of my name to come. Do not disappoint me children, for the games began long before Creation thought of your Existence."

The bleeding hearts shivered with excitement at the prospect of an uncanny feast.
