Lyndis ran into the forest as fast as she could, away from her family, friends, and everything she knew. It was her fault, and now her parents were dead. The village, her village, had betrayed her without a second thought. She had known Josh since they could walk, but he had led the villagers to destroy her life. She would certainly get revenge. She didn't know how, but she would. And it would be bloody when she did.
It was a normal day in Blacksummit, and a short, chesnut haired, blue eyed girl had just left her house. She walked into town where she saw a boy waiting for her. Josh was slightly taller than Lyndis and had a cheerful disposition and blond hair. They were meeting up to go into the forest to gather herbs for the pharmacist in town, as they were running out. After meeting up with Josh in the town centre, they left together to the forest. Apparently the forest was very dangerous, but the only monsters they had ever seen were some weak goblins that the guards finished off easily, so the duo didn't really fear the forest, especially Lyndis. They were looking for purple-leaved biddesley which was used to soothe itchy skin. After an hour of searching near the village, they still couldn't find any biddesley. Luckily, Lyndis was prepared for this, and had brought lunch for the two of them. They sat next to each other in a sunny clearing, and wondered what to do next.
"Should we go further into the forest?" Josh started
"I think we should. Its not that dangerous and we still haven't found anything." Lyndis replied
"Yeah, if we don't we will have wasted all of this morning." Josh continued.
Lyndis smirked at him and said "I don't think it will have been a complete waste."
A few hours later, the duo arrived near a stream. They could no longer see the village, and the sounds had completely charged to the sounds of the forest. As they had a drink, they considered their options. They had picked some biddesley, but it was shrivelled, and probably not very useful. "I don't think we should go back yet, but I don't think it would be a good idea to go any deeper into the forest. We might already be lost." Lyndis commented, a concerned look on her face as she watched the sun through the thick canopy.
"We can always just climb a tree to find the town, and we really haven't found enough of this." Josh replied, gesturing to a nearby tree before walking further away from the town. Lyndis said "I still think this is a bad idea," before reluctantly following Josh further into the forest.
Not too long after that, they finally found enough biddesley to return to the village. As soon as they did, they started walking back to town. Every so often, Josh would climb a tree and look for Blacksummit town to make sure they were going the right way. He was very happy with how this task had gone, and was looking forward to future exploration in the forest, as they had not encountered any monsters. Lyndis, on the other hand, seemed very anxious for no reason. After a few more minutes of travelling, Josh's curiosity overcame him "Why do you look so scared, Lyn? We haven't seen a single monster!"
"Well I... I must just be hearing things." Lyndis said, peering into the forest behind them.
Josh hardly held back his laughter "You're so paranoid! I guess all women are scaredy cats!"
"No! I'm just being cautious." Lyndis retorted, angry. But before the conversation could continue any more, one grey wolf jumped out of the undergrowth behind them, aiming for Lyndis' undefended back. However, Lyndis reacted as soon as it moved, jumping to the side to avoid the attack. She had been listening to the wolf approach them, but did not realize it was so close. Josh, on the other hand, was completely petrified. He knew that it was the strongest monster he had ever seen, and was frozen in place. The wolf, seeing Josh's pale face, ignored him to face the only threat, Lyndis. The woman in question grimaced as she stared at the wolf, before glancing at Josh and shouting "Run!". Not waiting to see his response, she looked back to the wolf in in front of her, and transformed.
