After the Annual Ceremony, the two friends dedicated their time in planning and working on their joint business venture. With the help of business advisors recommended by James, initial steps for their venture were started. The two friends decided to start small in consideration of their financial availability. Though James offered to back them financially, the two friends decided to use their available resources to really feel that this is not a pet project of James for his wife.
Amelia decided to use the fruits of her invested money left over from the ten million dollars which was being managed by the same lawyer referred by James' mother, Mrs. Richardson twelve years ago. The amount she could get from the lawyer would be enough to cover her share of the business. Who would have thought that dark times in her life would turn out like this huh?
Anyways, Amelia and Chanel started their small business with the moral support of Amelia's ever supportive, loving husband, which she and her friend were very thankful for as they were still quite knowledgeably challenged with the city where they have decided to establish their business.
Much to James' happiness, the two women decided to base their business where James' business was really based. He always made himself available whenever his wife and her friend needed advice and support for their budding business.
Three months later
"Ugghh..." Amelia sat on the floor of the restroom beside the toilet where she had just brought out everything from her stomach. All day since she stepped in their office, she has been feeling off. It was a good thing, Chanel was quite energetic, inspired and excited today as she was every day since they started their business, that she does not seem to feel the loss of physical help Amelia usually provided especially in dealing with their ever-growing clients.
Slowly, she stood up and went to the sink to brush her teeth, removing the stench of vomit. She wondered if she was coming down with something or if her resistance has lowered due to their bustling business which had them both having less sleep and rushed meals. If James did not even force them to take some nights off, both Amelia and Chanel would be spending most of their evenings working. They have not expected this fast and furious success when they started with their business but, it seems with James' back up and support, they should have expected this overwhelming, unexpected success. At this rate, they might have to hire additional personnel aside from the twenty - five they already have started with.
Chanel was just coming back from showing a client out, all smiles as the meeting was again a success when she noticed Amelia coming out from the restroom and slowly getting to her table. Noticing her best friend's pale face, she was immediately concerned.
"Are you feeling okay? You seem pale." She observed as she looked at her friend.
Seating by her desk, Amelia smiled weekly at her friend. "I must be coming down with the flu."
Chanel felt her forehead with the back of her hand and nodded. "You seem feverish. Why don't you have your bodyguards bring you home? I'll finish here and call you if anything else comes up."
Chanel has already moved to her own condo just as they started establishing their little business despite James' invitation for her to stay at the mansion. She wanted her independence, and she did not want to look like she was milking James just because Amelia was her best friend.
Amelia slowly roused from sleep as she felt someone gently shaking her right upper arm and opened her eyes to see the worried face of her husband.
"How are you feeling sweetie?" James asked worriedly as he sat beside her at the bed. He was in a stockholder's meeting when he read Ashley's message that Amelia was going home as she was not feeling well. He immediately excused himself and called his wife, but she assured him that she was just feeling off and possibly would just need to lie down. After extracting a promise from his wife to call if anything else goes wrong, he went back to his meeting. He immediately went home to check on his wife after the meeting ended.
"Hmmm.. I feel a lot better now." And she actually does. It seems, a good sleep was all she needed.
"Did you not also go home last week early because you were too tired and felt off?" James half asked, half stated, looking at Amelia with a gleam in his eyes.
"So?"
"Have you had your period yet this month?"
Amelia gasped in shock. "Do think I'm...?"
"I'm not sure sweetie, but the symptoms are there, and I know you have not had your period yet this month."
Immediately excited and a little scared, Amelia hugged James. "I want to check now." she whispered on her husband's ear, her heart beating so fast, James could even feel it. James smiled, just as excited as his wife.
"I'll have Sarah buy pregnancy test kits from the pharmacy immediately."
"No, I want you to get them yourself." Amelia said, not comfortable that the maid would immediately realize that she could be pregnant. She wanted to keep the budding surprise to be between the two of them for the time being.
"Alright, I'll got get it." James immediately acquiesced to Amelia's request, more confident now that his wife is truly carrying their angel.
"I'll come with you." Amelia crawled from the bed as James stood up.
"Are you sure sweetie? You can rest and wait for me. I'll be back before you know it."
"I want to come." Amelia pouted as she stood and looked at James.
James smirked. "Can't let your husband out of your sight huh?" He joked as Amelia walked to the door.
"You're not going to change?" Amelia was wearing silk pajamas bought by James at one of the times he dragged her for shopping.
"Nope, we'll be coming back directly anyway. I'll just wear my coat over these pajamas made of gold." Amelia said sarcastically, still not letting go of her shock that the pajama set cost almost triple the amount of the most expensive dress she ever bought for herself. It was a good thing they were already in the car when she got curious about how much all her nighties cost. To say she was shocked was an understatement of the year. She truly wanted them to go back and return the items which, of course, James lovingly disapproved of.
"I want to buy them for you sweetie. Nice nighties would make you feel even more comfortable while you sleep." Amelia still argued all through the time until they got home. Now, Amelia always wore those that James bought that night, arguing that those nighties should truly serve their purpose as their prices could feed a family of five for a weak.
Jame's phone rang as they were on their way to the pharmacy. James looked at his phone and saw that it was Chanel and passed the phone to Amelia.
"Hey, bitch." Amelia said immediately answered realizing that she left her phone in the bedroom again. Chanel must have called her and when she did not answer, took the chance that James was already at home.
"Ohhh... so the patient is still alive and kicking huh?" Chanel joked but immediately asked how Amelia is.
"We're actually on our way to get... huh.. tampons." Amelia said on the phone, looking at her husband. Feeling guilty that she was lying to her best friend.
"Ow... and here I thought you were pregnant." Chanel said, immediately making Amelia blush. It's a good thing Chanel was not in front of her.
"Huh... we have arrived at the pharmacy actually. See you tomorrow bitch." Amelia immediately cut the call short even though it was James alone who went inside to buy the pregnancy test kit as Chanel might notice her hesitancy in talking about her health today.
James pulls Amelia on his lap as he sits on the bed, while both of them look at the two sticks in front of them. Feeling excited but nervous at the same time, husband and wife cling to each other for support. One... two... With shaking fingers, Amelia grabs both sticks to make sure and shows the sticks to her husband. Looking at him, wanting to memorize how he looks as he sees that both sticks show positive result.
James could not believe it. He breathed a sigh of gratitude to the Almighty as he sees the happiness on his wife's face. He hugs his wife tightly to his chest as Amelia hugs him as well, happy tears slowly flowing from her eyes. Burying her face on his neck, savoring another beautiful, unforgettable moment with her husband.
Midnight
James slowly inserts his left hand under his wife's neck and slowly pulls her to him, careful not to wake her or disturb her sleep. Amelia has been asleep shortly after they have come up after enjoying a lengthy dinner as Amelia has become picky with the food served to them and the cook had to cook two more delicacies before Amelia was satisfied. James smiled at the thought. They have barely confirmed of the little angel's existence and Amelia was already strongly exhibiting strong pregnancy symptoms. James prayed; this pregnancy would be easy on her.
Sorry, not a lot to this chapter. I just hope you still enjoyed it. Thank you!!!
