Life in New York

"Hey bestie!" Amelia gave Chanel a wild smile before hugging her. Today was one month before the Annual Awarding Ceremony and they were to fly to New York tomorrow.

After she informed James that she wanted to attend the Annual Awarding Ceremony, James actually admitted that he was needed at the head office and asked her if it was alright for them to fly to New York that week. She suggested that James go ahead, and she would just follow a week before the ceremony itself, but James wouldn't hear of it. He wanted her with him when he went to New York, or he would not just go at all.

He suggested asking Chanel to come with them so that she would have someone with her when he gets busy with work and Amelia disagreed at first, knowing Chanel could not just leave WindyBrooke anytime as she had a job and would be surely fired if she kept on asking for leave. But later that night, Chanel called her on video to tell her that she was excited to explore New York with her. She was shocked, and Chanel explained that James invited her to the Annual Awarding Ceremony with all expenses paid.

"What about your job?" Amelia asked Chanel unbelievably.

"I resigned." Chanel replied with a smile. "I'll explain everything when I get there."

Obviously excited, Chanel cut short the video saying that she needed to prepare for the trip tomorrow as she would be flying early.

New York

She stands in awe as she gets off the private plane with her husband holding her by her waist and Chanel behind her. She looked behind her at her best friend and smiled in wonder just as Chanel smiled in return with excitement.

Their eyes shine in wonder and excitement as the bustling, large John F. Kennedy International Airport come into their sight. Contrary to the only airports they have stepped on in the past, this was a fascinating and awe - inspiring temporary stopping area from a long flight.

"Close your mouth sweetie, or my mouth would close it for you." James whispered in her ear teasingly and she blushed as she looked at her husband, embarrassed at displaying her ignorance.

James was obviously amused at her and Chanel's fascination with the airport. He always took airports for granted, regarding them only as a means to get to one place to another. Always using his private plane and receiving the best services, he has gotten quite used to busy airports that he does not bother to stop and appreciate uniqueness of any airport he steps on.

"Come, our ride is waiting. I am sure, you are excited to explore the sites later." James says as he guides her and Chanel to where the Rolls-Royce Phantom is parked, with bodyguards walking on both sides. "Someone will pick up our luggage." James continues as Chanel paused and was about to say something.

Feeling like celebrities, Amelia and Chanel walk beside James and enter the Rolls-Royce opened by the bodyguards.

James' mansion was located in Westchester County located north of New York City, at least an hour's ride but they weren't at all bored. As with the airport, both Amelia and Chanel incredulously gaze at the towering skyscrapers and in their eyes, unique architectural designs. James points out landmarks to them as they pass by, and they make promises to each other that they would visit later.

The mansion was even more breathtaking than they imagined as compared to the mansion where they lived in Bruzzels City. Expansive, manicured lawn immediately amazes their eyes as the Rolls-Royce move past the guards standing by the golden gate.

Amelia and Chanel stared in awe at the grand mansion sitting grandly before their eyes. They couldn't help but stare in amazement, jaws almost falling down the ground even as James and a bodyguard takes their hand to get out of the car.

Excited at the prospect of staying in a grand, luxurious mansion, both women smiled widely as James lead them to the entrance where guards open the door for them.

Time passed so fast. Today, Amelia and Chanel were preparing for the Annual Awarding Ceremony. Days after they got to New York City, Amelia and Chanel spent their time exploring the city. Sometimes, with James to show them the sites, having dinners in high end restaurants and simply visiting James at his work planet. At times, they even explored the buildings owned by James where the companies he owns were located, intrigued by how large James' companies are.

One time, they dropped by James' office as he and his two personal assistants, Ashley and Charley were about to leave for the final site inspection of the location for the Awarding Ceremony. James let them tag along and to their amazement, they were informed that one department was uprooted to work on this ceremony. They realized this was one of the ideas they had back when they half-heartedly talked about venturing into a business together. They went home that night, looking forward to venturing in a business together.

James let them do everything they wanted as long as they were accompanied by the bodyguards when they went out, and as long as Amelia allotted her nights for her husband, which was not a problem with Amelia as she always wanted to spend time with her husband when he wasn't busy. She always wanted to talk to him about the days she had with Chanel, exploring the city that never sleeps. Every day was a new day to learn more about the city; the sites, the people, the mixed cultures.

At times, she would drop by to wherever James was and let Chanel go on home without her so that she could spend some time with her husband, which he seemed to welcome even though, he was always busy with office work or site inspections. They would sometimes have dinners together, catch a movie, or just take walks in the park.

James would sometimes drag Amelia to jewelry shops and insist on buying her jewelries as he noticed that only restaurant and grocery bills were credited in the credit card he gave to Amelia. To his amazement, Amelia does not even spend much on clothes.

He was used to women who were always ready to spend his money, expecting him to provide not just for their needs but also for their luxuries, which is why he could not get used to his wife's thrifty spending habits.

Amelia's favorite activity was taking walks in parks which James indulged and has started to like as this gave them the time to talk about anything from the hours they spent apart, their thoughts on any issues that came up or the future. It was in these walks that Amelia talked about venturing on a business with Chanel.

Chanel has always dreamed of being in the events management business but was too scared to venture alone. She was good with details, and was talented in talking with people, drawing out from them exactly what they need and want even without them knowing it themselves. Most of all, she enjoyed talking to people, knowing their dreams and wishes. What she hated most were the behind the desk responsibilities of a business. She hated even the basics of accounts balancing which is where Amelia would complement her on this side of the business.

Though Amelia did not hate dealing with people, she usually preferred being behind the desk. Making sure that accounts were balanced and up to date. She enjoyed working with numbers even though she was not able to finish accountancy. She liked the idea of being the first to know that money is flowing in.

Amelia and Chanel previously always talked about venturing in an event management business but because they both had jobs at the time, their heart was not really into it. Now, as Amelia wanted to start anew in her career, she seriously considered partnering with her best friend and with James' years of experience in business, she wanted his thoughts about the idea of venturing in a business and partnering with her best friend.

The Annual Awarding Ceremony was a success. Though Chanel was never a part of the company, no one questioned that she attended and was even seated at the presidential table as she was seated beside Amelia. She was introduced to the Board of Directors, Executive Leadership officers and some other officers in the Management level as the CEO wife's best friend.

All in all, the two women enjoyed the ceremony. Though Amelia sometimes felt discomfort whenever she was introduced and had to mingle with her husband's associates, board members, management staff and officers, she comforted herself that she was learning a lot that night businesswise together with her friend who enjoyed the occasion immensely as she was totally in her element.

Amelia was even amazed at her friend as she even started to introduce their still gasping in the air business as they just started discussing the pros and cons, the basics and general ideas regarding the business.

Sorry it took a week for this Chapter. it was a crazy week. Thank you for coming back!!!
