"That's some creepy story," Jay said, popping in through the classroom door. Jay was in the dancing club with Jungwon. He didn't like anything supernatural, especially ghosts and monsters.
Sayuri was in charge of the cultural anthropology research club and she was student council president. She had high grades in every subject and was friends with everyone in the school. She was interested in the legend and since they were having a hard time picking a topic for the cultural festival, she decided to look into it.
"Did you hear about the Bellflower monster before?" Sayuri asked Heeseung.
"Yes, the Bellflower Monster, it's similar to the popular game called the "Ao Oni," he answered while searching it up on his phone to show the others.
"Yeah, I heard of it too," Sunoo agreed.
"The game was probably inspired by the legend of the Bellflower Monster," Sayuri cried.
"I played the game before," Sunoo cheerfully replied, raising his hand as if he were a small child. He was more ecstatic now that they were finally getting somewhere with their research.
"Why don't I send an email to the creator of the game, telling him that we found this folktale," Heeseung suggested.
"Okay," Sayuri nodded.
He quickly typed the message to the creator of the game and clicked send. Just a few minutes later, a notification popped up on his phone. The creator of the game had replied to his message.
"I got an email from the creator saying that he lives in Tokyo now but he said he lived in this town up until elementary school. He heard about the Bellflower Monster from his grandpa when he was little," Heeseung summarized what he read.
"But what does this have to do with our display for the cultural festival?" Sunghoon asked in confusion.
"It means the original story used for a game that everyone knows was actually from our hometown. It's a folklore monster that was almost forgotten, come back in the form of a game," Heeseung explained. Sunghoon nodded in understanding.
"Isn't it kind of interesting?" Sayuri asked.
"Yes, it is very interesting," Heeseung answered.
"What's freaky is that Bellflower Mountain is right there," Jay said, pointing towards the window.
"Anyways, I'll be visiting the game's creator this Saturday. Heeseung will you come with me?" Sayuri asked him. He hummed in agreement.
"The rest of you will stay here to do more research and find out if this story is still told anywhere," Sayuri told them. "It's possible this story is not just a fairy tale."
"It is a bit different from typical folk tales... it seems.. almost real," Heeseung said after thinking.
"Okay, let's go," Sayuri said while getting up from her chair. "Is that alright? Rain sensei?" She asked, waiting for his approval.
He got up from his nap, "Uh, sure," Rain sensei replied.
