Chapter 3 : Scavenging for Survival

As they walked along the deserted streets of Los Angeles, Marcus, Maya, Miguel, and Olivia couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. The storm they had just survived had been unlike anything they had ever experienced before. It was only when they stumbled upon a group of undead, snarling and stumbling towards them, that they realized the true extent of the disaster that had befallen the city.

They quickly turned and ran in the opposite direction, looking for a safe place to hide. It was Olivia who spotted the abandoned store, its windows boarded up and the door padlocked. With Miguel's help, they managed to break in, and the group found themselves in what would be their new home.

It wasn't much, but it was a start. They spent the next few days scavenging for food and supplies, relying on their wits to survive. Marcus proved to be an excellent hunter, using his skills to track down small game, while Maya showed her resourcefulness by finding new uses for the items they had scavenged. Miguel was the muscle of the group, using his strength to open doors and move heavy objects, and Olivia was the glue that held them all together, her calming presence and positive attitude keeping their spirits up.

But it wasn't just the undead they had to worry about. Other survivors, desperate and hungry, roamed the streets, willing to do whatever it took to stay alive. It was on one of their scavenging trips that they encountered a group of these survivors, led by a man named Jack.

Jack was a charismatic leader, with a quick wit and a charming smile. He invited the group to join him and his people, promising safety and security in numbers. But Marcus was wary. He had seen the way Jack looked at Maya, and he didn't trust him. Maya, on the other hand, was intrigued. She saw potential in Jack's leadership and believed that he could help them survive in this new world.

The group debated the pros and cons of joining Jack's group, but in the end, they decided to stick together. They had become a tight-knit family, and they weren't willing to risk losing that.
