In the pack house, Selene's father, Alpha Zen, and his Luna sat in the throne room

"I've been having sleepless nights about Selene my dear," Luna said

"Poor child, she's suffering for my sin. Since the day that she left, I've not had a single sleep without seeing her face," Alpha Zen said with his hands on his forehead.

"What do we do to get her back from the devil, Devon" Luna continued "What can we do, I need my daughter back, I want her back home, she's been out of this pack for too long and I can't endure another night without seeing her" 

"I don't know what to do it, unfortunate Selene is the one that Devon wants, not any of us and he doesn't want anything else but her," Alpha Zen explained that they nothing he could do about the situation but pray to the moon goddess that she'll perform a miracle

"We can't just sit here and wait for the moon goddess to do something, we have to do something, haven't we waited for a long time now," The Luna said, she didn't hide the fact that she missed Selene and she couldn't wait any longer for her to come back home

She missed her warm touch and her loud laughter. She missed their mother-and-daughter gossip. She missed Selene every single day that she woke up and didn't see her face. She couldn't even call her and know if she was fine. It hurts her so much to not know if her daughter is treated like a slave.

"I don't know what else to do. I tried negotiating with Devon, but he's hell-bent on having Selene and there's nothing, absolutely nothing, that I can do about that," Zen said.

"What do you mean by there's nothing? Let's take a war there. We have to do something, anything!" She uttered, the feeling of desperation swept in and all he wanted was to hold her child again.

"A war? Stop talking without thinking. Don't you know that the war you speak of can cause the life of everyone in this pack, and what do you think Selene would think about that?" Zen asked.

"Devon is very powerful, and I done need to remind you or anyone about his power, with the snap of his fingers, every single thing that I have worked for can crumble down right before my very eyes," Zen added trying his best to explain to his wife that his hands were tied, he couldn't afford to anger Devon because he knows the consequences

"I'll go, I'll bring my mate back," Steve's voice rang through the room as he stepped his foot into the room

"Dear child, I know that it must be hard for you, but I can't risk your life. I'd rather go and save my daughter myself because this is my war and not yours to fight," Zen said.

"I'll prepare and leave before nightfall," Zen uttered and the Luna swiftly turned to him with tears welling up in her eyes

"No Alpha, if you leave, who would lead the people? We cannot afford for our Alpha to stand against Devon, so please stay. I am Selene's mate for a reason," Steve said and bowed slightly.

Zen gulped down the saliva in his mouth, Luna was completely speechless. She didn't want to seem like a selfish mother by letting Steve go after her daughter when she knew that going to Devon's kingdom was like entering the gates of hell.

"Dear child, are you sure about this? Devon is strong and you know it, I don't want any person to die by his hands or sword, so please think about this again," Luna said.

"I've thought about it Luna, and I feel like a coward every time for letting Devon take my mate away and I have to get her back, no matter how hard it is and no matter how powerful Devon may be," Steve said. It was evident to Luna and Zen that Steve had made up his mind and all that they could do now was pray that the moon goddess granted him success in his plan to bring Selene back home.

"It's not your fault, we also watched and there was nothing, nothing any of us could do," Luna said, trying to relieve him of the pain of letting another man take his mate away from him right before his eyes

"but still! I should have done something," Steve said.

"Okay, I'll have all the things that you need to be prepared so that you can leave before nightfall," Zen said

"I've prepared everything that I need Alpha Zen" Steve's mind was made up, and he knew that he was walking towards the lion's den, but he could no longer spend another night knowing that his mate was in another man's kingdom. 

"Moon Goddess, protect me," He whispered to himself, but due to the Alpha and Luna's heightened hearing sense organs, they heard his words and said in unison, "Amen."

Behind the door of the entrance of the throne room, Susan leaned to the door as she listened to what they were saying. Her jaw instantly dropped as she heard Steve's words. She was happy that Selene was taken away from this pack and that she was no longer a barrier to her and Steve. She wanted Steve for herself. She has always loved him, but unfortunately, the moon goddess made him and Selene mates.

She clutched her fingers into a tight fist and she bit her lips in anger. "Damn you, Selene," she uttered, trying hard to calm herself

She didn't want Steve to go to Devon's kingdom because everyone was aware of Devon's power and, up to date, no one had been able to defeat him, so she couldn't comprehend why he would want to go against such a person.

"Please come back to your senses Steve, even if you're under a spell, you can't just willingly walk to what will lead to your death," Susan said
