The calm breeze blows by, making my ocean- blue hair sway with it. It's a day like any other; I'm standing on the edge of the Eastern Cliff, looking out at the ocean. I gently close my eyes and see a familiar scene. I'm 12 years old, on a ship with my parents and...
Raven: Mom!!
Mom: Raven, go with your father!
Raven: But what about you?
Mom: Don't worry about me! Take this and run away!
Mom places a shimmering emrald pendant in my hands. I look at her with tears in my eyes. Is this the last time I'm going to see her?
Raven: How can I leave you like this?
Mom: Just go, my broken leg cannot get me anywhere. Go to your father and flee from this place before they find you! Please stay alive on my behalf.
On her behalf? What's going to happen to her? I don't understand, but what I do know is that I need to get out of here as soon as possible. I nod in response and make a mad dash towards my dad.
Dad: Raven!! There you are! Get up here.
Dad helps me up on the ship railing
Dad: Do you see that wooden plank? I'll help you down there.
???: Thinking of escaping my dear 'friend'?
Dad: J- John, let my family out of this. This is between you and me.
All the color drains from Dad's face. Sensing something is wrong, I clutch the pendant in my hand tight.
John (?): Don't play goodie- goodie with me!!
The man points a gun towards us.
Dad: Get down, Raven!
Raven: Ahh!
Dad pushes me off board to save me. At that very moment I hear a gun shot and my father's scream. No, this can't be... Before I have time to react, my head hits the corner of the plank as I fall into the ocean. I keep sinking deeper and deeper. I notice streaks of green light coming from between my fingers. Is that coming from the pendant? I don't get time to make sense of the mysterious light as my consiousness fades away....
