Chapter 3: Self-Proclaimed God

This otome game takes place in a setting similar to medieval times, so there should be no modern devices, like the phone that I had almost tripped on. Judging by the 'I suppose you have had enough alone time to sort things out' I could be quite sure that this person knew a bit about my situation. I forced my shaky hand to slowly pick up the phone and input the password '111111'. The phone had many apps, all under the account of 'Sage'. In other words, this person most likely knew I was coming beforehand. I clicked on the 'Message' app. There was only one person in the contacts there. And this was the '???' person. A red, sparkling, small arrow moved back and forths at the side of this contact, signifying me to click there. I hovered my finger over the contact for a minute, unsure of whether or not I should click it, and just before I could click on it, a pop up appeared on the screen

What are you waiting for, I am a busy man,

stop hovering over the button and just

CLICK it!!!

|OK|

'So this guy is watching me right now?!'

I whipped my head to the nearest window before realizing that there was none. The only light that was in this room were a few candles and a bit of light that seeped through the cracks in the door (which were too small to be able to look through). Pressing the 'OK' button, I decided to just ask him this directly. Soon after entering '???'s chat room' he sent me a new message.

???:

Finally! I thought I would have

to wait an eternity!

Sage:

May I please ask some

Questions?

???:

Sheesh, getting straight to

the point, not fun~

???:

But sure, although I can't

guarantee I will answer all of them...

Sage:

Then, first off, who are you

and why am I here

???:

I guess you guys view

me as what you call a 'god'.

I was bored, so perhaps I brought you

here for entertainment~

''Perhaps'?' I pondered for a second, before shaking the thought off.

Sage:

I don't see how I will

be entertaining to you

though… Besides,

I don't remember

giving you consent.

God:

Don't worry my instincts are

always right! Also, I don't

think you want to go to

nothingness (you can

always tell me if you do)!

To celebrate your

arrival, I have prepared

a gift~

(click 'yes'!)

Would you like to use the system?

*you cannot change your answer

|YES| |NO|

I would have liked to ask some questions before making my answer, however, like all other pop-ups, I could not use the phone until I answered the question.

"Could you please tell me more about this 'system'? I don't want to end up making a decision I will regret."

No answer.

At this point, being hit by a truck, and then being brought here by a shady being who called him(?)self a god, I probably should have declined, however, like the fool I am, I accepted after only a few minutes of thinking. After reading quite the amount of literature, I had a good guess on what the 'system' is. However, I had known more about this 'system' and 'god' in particular, the outcome would probably have been better. Oh, how I wish I could rewind time and give myself a good smacking.

After a bit of hovering over both the 'YES' and 'NO' buttons, I finally pressed down on 'YES' biting my lip and making a silent prayer towards the self-proclaimed god that I didn't just seal my doom.

God:

Congratulations!

Welcome to the system!

。゚・(>v<)・゚。

Sage:

Is there any tutorial or guide

of how to use the 'System'?

God:

Of course! Here ya go!

2 pop-ups appeared, but this time right in front of my face, and not on the phone screen. I flinched back at its sudden appearance, however since I was expecting it already, I wasn't as shocked. The first pop-up read

'Welcome to the [system]'.

The second was a bit longer and said

'STATS

MISSION

NOTIFICATIONS

MESSAGE

Please update the system for more'

I cautiously put my hand through the screen and felt a bit of resistance when it went through. A slight tug, similar to when magnets pass each other with their magnetic fields barely touching. I then clicked on 'notifications'. There was a log that read

'System message: Subject - welcome _

New mission assigned! _'

Luckily, I slightly knew how to work the system, due to the many 'system' books and comics I had read. Before I clicked on the 'new mission assigned' a small 'ding' that came from the system. Shortly after, the phone beeped too. I checked the log again, and a new message was there.

'System message: Subject - welcome _

New mission assigned! _

Message from God: Subject - [blank] _ '

I clicked on 'Message from 'God''.

'Subject:

From: God

Aaaw, why weren't you all startled! Booo~

Anyways, although it seems you know the basics of the system, here are a few tips and tricks:

1. You don't need to touch the system, just think or whisper what you want to do (try things out!)

2. The pop-ups are not seen by anyone but you

3. The system does not block your line of sight!

4. The system was made by yours truly

5. The system's elements are similar to those of a game

6. The phone and system are connected, though the phone has a few handy mini-games and features that aren't in the system (Too lazy to incorporate them into the system =.=)

7. Don't worry, the system doesn't know what you are thinking, and unless you want it to

8. This is just here because I probably forgot a bunch of stuff'

Deciding to test things out, I thought in a loud voice 'reply to 'god': thank you for the explanation'

"DING"

'Subject:

From: Sage

Thank you for the explanation.

Subject:

From: God

No Problemo ; D'

I then decided to try out saying

"Open new window with stats. Open new window with mission. Close notification window".

I had purposely said things concise, to see if proper grammar or terms (notice, I said 'window' instead of 'pop-up') was needed. It properly obeyed my commands. I must admit, to this day, I really love the aesthetics of the system. Everything from the high-tech way it looks, to the absolute obedience it shows--, wait we are getting a bit off-topic here. Anyways, I first decided to read the stats. It read:

'<l STATS:

Physical: 10

Strength 2 (+, -)

Speed 4 (+, -)

Agility 4 (+, -)

Intelligence: 15

Memory 6 (+, -)

Knowledge 9 (+,-)

Instinct: 13

Sense 6 (+,-)

Forsight/6th sense 7 (+,-)

Magic:

Spells [sealed]

Mana [sealed]

For more please update the system'

Deciding to compare my stats to find value later, I switched my eyes to the 'mission' window. However, shortly after I started trailing my eyes down the screen, a gasp of horror and disbelief left my lips.

'<l Mission:

You are currently being mistreated by the marquess. If this persists, permanent damage may be done to your body. Find a way out of this position!

*if you fail this mission you shall receive a penalty

Time: 1 week

Reward: ??

Penalty: Heart shall stop '

A/N: Hello, thank you for reading! Feel free to comment on any questions, comments, concerns, and/or suggestions! I thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading this! What do you think about ‘God’?

BTW, the <l you saw at the beginning of ‘Missions’ and ‘Stats’ was a ‘go back’ button.
