Chapter 17: Straight From Hell

He leaped away from the pillar as the large claw smashed through it. He landed a few meters away from the creature in a crouch.

'What the hell is this thing!?' He thought as he dodged another attempt on his life.

"hUmAn…" A chilling sound came from the creature causing Sora to stumble a bit.

"You can speak? What are you?" Sora asked warily.

He was right about it being inhuman but he wasn't sure what exactly this thing in front of him was. It looked like something straight out of hell.

"HuMaN, yoU daRe To inTerfEre!?YoU haVe nO IdeA whAt You'Re meDdliNg In!" It hissed out before speeding towards him.

Sora, who had already prepared hand seals, released a large fireball towards it. Unlike what he expected to happen, the creature pushed past it with no damage taken.

His eyes widened as a claw made it's way to his gut. Without wasting time, he drew a knife from his inventory, just barely avoiding death.

He winced as his entire body shook from the power of the attack. A crack quickly formed on the knife causing Sora's heart rate to spike.

'What!?' He exclaimed internally.

Just before it fully broke, he jumped away from the creature's range. With a flick of his wrist, the knife was on it's way towards the creature's head.

He smiled in victory as the knife made contact only for that smile to falter as the knife broke on impact.

'It can't even damage it! If that won't work, then…' He thought as another knife appeared in his hand.

He blurred forward, forcing chakra into the knife with intent to break through the hard skin. The creature had no chance to react as the weapon struck it at full force.

Although there was a lot of power behind the thrust, it only left a small scratch on it's head. It wasn't even deep enough for it to be considered an injury.

'It's no good. It barely left a scratch!' He thought as he backed away just as the creature slashed at him.

He winced as the edge of the claw scraped his side. Although only the tip of the claw touched him, it was enough to draw blood.

He landed some distance away from it as he saw the crack forming on the knife in his hand. The creature made no move to pursue him and instead, seemed to look mockingly.

'This isn't working. At this rate, I'll die!' He thought as sweat ran down his back.

"NoW Do yoU unDerStanD HUmaN. YOu'rE eFforTs aRe fuTiLe. YOu woN't sToP mE AgaiN!" It's distorted voice hissed out gloatingly.

"Again? What do you mean?" Sora asked, noticing the creatures wording.

"Oh tHat's rIgHt. You're nOt acQuAinTed wItH thIS foRm!" It hissed as it's voice started to stabilize a bit.

"What the hell are you!?" Sora asked although he already knew part of the answer.

"I aM Abbadon! ThE deMon wHo Sits at the right of hiS majesty, Lord Aamon!" He roared as Sora's eyes widened in shock. Of all the answers he was expecting, this wasn't one of them.

"You DelaYed my plaNs wHen yOu lEft Me to burn in tHat fire but thAt was oNly a teMporAry setback. NotHing will stOp me frOm mY purpose in tHis world." It hissed with passion.

"And just what is your purpose?" Sora questioned the demon.

"To reviVe my masTer into This worLd! He will beNd this World to its KneeS. I will Return until I fUlfill tHat purPoSe but BefoRe I do That, I'll kIll yOu." It hissed as it's body tensed.

"YoU aRe an aNoMaly tHat nEeds to Be purGeD For my maSter's saKe!" It roared as it lunged at him with renewed vigor.

'Fire Style: Great Fire Ball Jutsu!' Sora exclaimed internally as he shot out a ball of fire, pouring more chakra into the technique in hopes of slowing the demon down.

It barely worked as it brushed past the flames and tore through him. Just as Sora was cut in two, the body was covered in a puff of smoke and a two pieces of wood fell to the floor.

"UsinG tHe saMe triCks won't woRk a SecoNd tiMe. YoUr illuSioNs won'T woRk on Me." It hissed out as it floated around, waiting for him to reveal himself.

A few seconds passed when it realized that the boy didn't plan on doing so. It let out a guttural growl as it floated around the cathedral in search of him.

Sora who had used the fireball as a distraction to prepare his escape, managed to sneak into the back room of the cathedral.

While Abbadon was giving his speech, Sora was unable to trap him in a genjutsu. It just dissipated before it could take effect.

He was only lucky that the demon didn't notice his attempts. He took the first chance he had to escape. The front door was out and he would get spotted before he could get out the window.

Even if he got out the window, Abbadon would simply follow him out into the streets and cause mayhem. As much as he wasn't trying to be a hero, he would avoid such an outcome if he could.

With the other options closed, he was left with the back room of the church where they keep their instruments and items of use.

The door was already slightly open so he easily slipped in. Upon entering the room, he stuck close to the wall for a moment to make sure he wasn't seen.

After making sure he was safe, he focused his eyes inside the dark room and his breath hitched a bit.

Tied up on the floor and unconscious were four girls, more specifically, the girls that were said to be kidnapped.

'Wait four? There were only three that were reported to be missing. Did Abbadon bring her here today?' He pondered as he saw the fourth girl whose features didn't match any of the three descriptions but yet seemed familiar.

He noticed something that made him narrow his eyes with a frown.

"I know you're awake." He whispered low enough to only be heard by the people in the room. He waited for a few seconds until her eyes opened, revealing their blue color.

He had noticed her faking her unconscious state when her breath picked up as he moved nearer. Her eyes seemed to carry a certain amount of fear until they calmed down a bit when he made no move to harm her.

She looked like she wanted to struggle but stopped midway. Unlike the others who only had their hands and legs tied, she had her hands, legs and mouth tied and taped.

He considered leaving her tied there until he sorted out the fight with Abbadon but something kept pulling at his mind.

Carefully and silently, he walked towards her until he was directly in front of her before speaking.

"Don't scream if you know what's good for you." He spoke coldly, his voice carrying a silent threat that made the girl stiffen for a moment as he quickly ripped off the tape on her mouth.

"Thank you." She whispered before gesturing to her body that was still tied.

He stared at her with no intention of undoing those bindings. At least not until this mess was over.

"I can help." She spoke lowly, grabbing his attention. He hesitated for a moment before asking.

"How."

"That thing out there is a demon and it wants t-"

"Don't waste my time. Tell me what I don't already know or I might have to tape your mouth shut again." He said, rudely interrupting her and walking to the full roll of tape at the other side of the room.

"Rude." She muttered under her breath before continuing as she saw Sora cut out a small amount of the tape, intent on shutting her up.

"What you don't know is how he intends to revive his master." She said, making Sora pause.

He didn't think she even knew that far but the fact that she knew what Abbadon was and why he was here rung a few bells in his head.

"Talk." He said coldly with his tone giving no room for argument.
