(Chapter 32)

....

After few more minutes of giving out instructions, Dad finally left alongside the driver. Leaving only Naito: the instructor, to guide us further.

"Don't worry, I'll protect everyone." John announced passionately.

"Humph! who needs your help?" I said in a friendly but cocky manner.

"Looks like I'll have to break your wings again Mr. Eagle." William said coolly, before everyone concurrently busted into laughter.

"What did you say?" I asked, as I flung myself like a mad cow towards William.

"Stop it, let's avoid unnecessary discord between ourselves." Naito advised, as he used one hand to push me backwards, preventing me from getting closer to William.

"I'm really going to di-die." Helena muttered, as she clamped her fingernails with her teeth. And in no time, she began to falter; which started to upset us.

"Like he (John) said, no one's going to die. You all are going to be invading a club." The Instructor reassured us.

"A club?" Everyone bewilderedly asked in unison.

"Pfft Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha!" John laughed his *ss out.

"Are we invading with a club (weapon)? Or we are going to invade a club?" William asked with a disappointed look.

"You are going to be invading a night club." Naito said, with a serious look on his face.

"Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha!" John laughed uncontrollably, then changes his facial expression in an instant. "Don't f*ck with us! Are we really invading a club?" He asked.

"Does it seem like he's playing to you?" Shinsui asked with a stern look while facing John.

All I knew was that; attacking a club wouldn't be as easy as John thought it would but right now, I couldn't get the voice of my mum out of my head.

Was it really a trance? Or it was a gradual revelation of my true self?

"You truly suck a lot loser!" A voice reverberated in my ears.

Tsk! I know for a surety that it was the same voice I heard before I met Kenji. I looked around us suspiciously but, I could neither see nor sense anyone. Looks like General Minamino's training routine paid off. My stamina, and awareness had increased lately. Although, only by a bit.

"You mustn't get carried away during your mission because, a club has many factors of diversion: ladies, drinks, music, games and other stuffs. A top rank criminal and his minions are going to attack that club, so your job is to ensure that they fail and no one in the club dies.

Most importantly, material damage must be avoided if possible. The identity or records of the criminals are unknown to us but, all I know is that they've being wanted for almost four years now. Even the militias couldn't burst them. We don't even know what they want.

Every time they indulge in a brawl, sixteen lives are lost at least. This mission is more of a gamble, as they might not show up in the end. However, according to the information from the soul heaters, they're going to show up today, and at a very popular club." Naito said as he brought another device out.

"So they're a bunch of dangerous criminals right?" William asked for further verification.

"Yes. And if they push you to the edge, kill them without hesitation." As he talked, a screen popped up from the device.

According to what we saw, the device displayed a map that showed us the location of the club, and pictures of its building. It was quite big for a club.

'Looks like technology was already advanced before you arrived Shinsui." I thought, while looking towards him in an unnoticeable manner.

"Then why didn't the soul heaters take care of it?" Helena asked, giving us little to no time to reply, she continued:

"At least my brother is there, and he's very strong. They could have sent him and a few others. Why did they have to send us instead?" She began to fidget, as she asked us all manner of questions.

Naito heaved a very deep sigh, then tells us why.

"Listen, the soul heaters have more than enough work on their hands already. And besides, this mission isn't for their level, they are way beyond it. On the other hand, you guys are still at the rock bottom in the army. So this is a job befitting your type." Immediately he said this, we all realized he wasn't a low rank soldier. Probably a mid-rank or high rank fighter.

"You send a lady to a dangerous mission, and still have the b*lls to label us as losers?" John asked, as he pulled Naito by the shirt.

"Sto--" Shinsui tried to stop John from trespassing, however Naito had already open his mouth to speak.

"Let him be!" Naito commanded.

"Tsk, whether you are high ranked or not, I won't tolerate anyone trash talking us." John uttered, as he finally let go of his shirt.

"Hmph!" He dusted his top like John's hand was filthy.

"Don't think you're strong or anything just because you were one of the best freshmen we had this year. You guys are no different from a normal civilian and also, there is no gender on the battle field." As he spoke, the way in which Naito looked at us like we were preposterous, made me realize he wasn't what we thought he would be.

"What are you saying? Aren't we of the same squad?" I asked in utter shock.

He laughs hysterically for a couple of seconds before answering:

"Me? I don't intend to demean you but, I would never be in a nonsense squad like this. I'll rather go back to the military college. Don't lump me in with yourselves, I'm from the most deadly squad under the authority of General Kiirito." His ego was surely on another level.

"Damn it!" John said with a wavering voice and in the twinkling of an eye, he made a move to attack Naito.

"Stop!" I commanded subconsciously as I held his hand with a firm grip. I wasn't aware of how I grabbed his hand because, my body moved on its own. But, what I knew for a surety was that I felt like I was the strongest person on the field for a moment.

"He's totally right, we are the lowest of the low to him and some people right now. So, why don't we prove to them how strong we are?" I said anxiously with a grin, while I released his hand.

"Yeah, he's right." Shinsui echoed in support of me and in no time, the five of us were already united.

"United we stand, Divided we shall fall!" John pledge echoed throughout the whole field.

"Yeah!!!" We echoed in unison.

"Hmph! Now that sounds better. Take!" He pointed the device towards John. "This would guide you to the place. There is a black van over there just after this bush, go and enter it. The driver would take you there." Naito said, as he turned around to take his leave.

"Aren't you going with us?" Helena asked.

"No I was not asked to. My work was to give you the necessary information, and guide you before you go. Like his dad said, *He points to me* none of you should die in the process. If you do, your replacements are well and ready to join the army."

"Tsk!" John said, alongside a slight frown.

He would probably be cursing him (Naito) inwardly. It looked like John disliked him a lot.

"Guess it's about time." I whispered to myself as I and the others walked towards the bush, with a solemn prayer in our hearts that no one should die during our first mission.

"I still want to remain alive, I want to see the end of the world with my own very eyes." Helena also said with a scared but sinister voice.

Everywhere became silent for a few seconds, before Shinsui decided to break the silence.

"Ha! Ha! Ha! Every single one of us would have being dead before then. And stop trying to sound like a desperate villain." He tried to taunt, and lighten the mood of Helena and the others to ease the tension.

"Even if I die, I just want to die saving myself." A devilish grin crept on my face, as I stood on a spot while the others progressed forward.

After walking a few steps forward and not hearing my footsteps, Shinsui paused, before turning his head towards my direction.

"Fushi?" Shinsui uttered, as he slapped my face gently. Attracting the attention of the others.

_*_

"What happened?" William asked with a hint of worry in his voice.

"I could have sworn that his eyes turned green." Helena said, while turning towards William direction.

"It seems you read too much of fantasy or magical realism novels. His eyes are still as blue as ever." He said, with a sigh following thereafter as he resumed walking.

"Did he pass out due to fear or anxiety?" John asked as he walked towards me.

"No but, it seems like he his subconscious. Just look at the evil grin on his face." Shinsui smiled gently, as he stared at me with a worried look.

"He might need a reviving kiss." John chuckled while looking towards a certain person's direction.

"Humph!" She said under her breath with a slight frown.

"I feel so dizzy!" I muttered, as I finally moved forward while shaking my head from left to right.

"L-let's do this guys!" I echoed as we walked towards the van.
