Jian Yunxi bit her lip in frustration. She felt like her parents couldn't understand her feelings for Sheng Junlie, nor could they understand her sense of regret.

"Dad, I know what I'm doing," she said.

Jian's father clutched his chest and pointed down the hallway. "If you're going to keep this attitude, then leave now before you make your mother any more upset."

Tears streamed down Jian Yunxi's face. She looked back at her mother lying in the hospital bed with an oxygen mask on.

She felt upset, but she didn't want to compromise.
