I woke up in Recovery Girl's office. Beside my bed were Denki and Bakugou. Bakugou was holding my hand, sound asleep. Denki smiled his eyes puffy and red. "Hey Midoriya," he said softly. Recovery Girl came over to my other side and huffed. "Midoriya, you gave the others quite the scare. Bakugou, here, was terrified." All I did was stare at her. It felt as if my emotions were shoved behind a stone wall where I couldn't reach them. Her eyes deepened with sadness. "Midoriya?" blinked. "Oh, you poor dear. You're emotions... they went away?" I nodded uninterested. She turned and looked at Denki. "This is the result of a boy who's been hurt so many times." She shook her head sadly.
I look at Denki feeling a small flicker of pain. It must have flashed through my eyes because Denki saw it, and his smile fell to a small one. He knew. He knew that I had put the wall up in my sleep. He knew I'd blocked my heart with metal from the world. I slipped my hand out of Bakugou's and got up. "Tell Bakugou that Denki and I left," I said in a monotone voice. She nodds. With that, Denki and I took off. "Midoriya." He grasped my hand, interlocking his fingers with mine. "Yes?" He sighed. "When you're alone with me. You don't have to hide your feelings. We're both hurting and you know it." My eyes water. "I know. Thank you, Denki." We both stop in the middle of the hallway. All alone. I put my face into his chest and I broke down as he rubbed my head.
-Time Skip Lunch-
I had returned to my monotone state shortly before Bakugou came out and found us. Denki and I were now outside, skipping lunch. My head is laid in his lap and he plays my hair. We both sit here in silence enjoying the quiet. "Hey, Katsuki! I found them." Both Denki and I sighed in annoyance, sharing a look. I sat up as the couple came over. "What do you want Kirishima?" Kirishima looked at me in surprise because I didn't acknowledge Bakugou. "Well, I wanted to ask why you fainted?" I stiffened. It felt he'd just ripped my insides out. Denki looked at me worried then I said "Why don't you two just pretend we're n-not here? Huh? That sounds like a great idea. Right, Denki?" He nods. "But Midob-" I got up and walked away while Denki following me.
Denki sighed and twined his fingers with mine. We continued to walk without looking back. "Izuku!" I pretended to not hear him and continued walking. "Denki." He tightened his hand around mine. "Can we leave? Leave and never come back?" My eyes stung, my vision was blurry. "Oh, Izuku.." We stopped and I cried. I fell to the floor and cried my heart out. Denki lifted my head with his hand. His eyes filled with empathy. He pulled me into a hug, holding me. "We can leave. After school today alright?" I nod. "After school today," I repeated.
We continued with our day, Sensei gave Denki and I extra activities to keep our minds distracted. At the end of class, I walk up to Aizawa with Denki. "Problem child, Kaminari." He nods his head. "Can Izu and I leave campus? We don't want to withdraw we just don't want to be around Kirishima and Bakugou anymore. They've caused us enough pain." Aizawa sighs and nods. "After the normal school day, you can come work with me for the rest of the day." I smiled slightly. "T-Thanks Sensei." I bowed. "Off you go."
-Time Skip Next Day-
"Hey Izu!" I heard Kaminari and smile slightly. He runs towards me with his luggage. "Are we ready to head to our apartment?" I nod. "Midobabe! Kams!" We turn around and see our friends running toward us. "Did you really think that we weren't gonna find out? Did you also think we were gonna let you go without saying goodbye?" I laugh. "Mina we're just going to our apartment! It's not like we're moving across the world!" She gave us an exasperated sigh. Then hugged us. "Alright! Everyone in!" The others crowded around us and put up peace signs, Denki and I linked hands and held them up. Denki suddenly pecked me a kiss on the cheek getting it in the photo and the girls squealed. I stood there with a smile stuned. I touched my face in disbelief.
"You are in the D-Squad now!" Denki said laughing. I joined in with him. "Oi!" Everyone stopped, and I hid behind Denki. "What's going on?" Bakugou sees our stuff. "Is Dunce Face leaving? Finally, realized you can't be a hero huh?" Bakugou's pissed and I knew it. I stepped out from behind Denki, linking our hands together again. "Shut up Bakugou!" I flew back at him. "When are you gonna realize that you keep hurting others with your comments? You broke my self-esteem alrighty. Isn't that enough?"
"No, I guess it isn't Deku. And why the fuck are you holding hand with Dunce Face? Didn't I also tell you not to call me that?" I felt my anger boil. "I'm holding hands with him because I want to. Again I can call you whatever the fuck I want Katsuki." Bakugou stepped back shocked. Then as he was right about to say it again, Kirishima stopped him with a swift kiss on the neck. Which bit down in me hard. "Let's get out of here Denki." I spun around and picked up my bags and started walking with Denki.
I hailed a taxi and crawled in. Denki is right behind me. My anger has disappeared but in its place is a sense of despair. Like when I was on the rooftop at school that day. The day I almost committed suicide. "It's what he wanted... I should have done it.." Denki drew me in for a hug and I let him. He patted my head. "What should you have done?" he asked. I recalled the sick memory from deep in my head and told him. He was hot with anger. Even the driver was angry enough to speak up. "No, he was wrong. You may have been quirkless, but your a strong kid, I can see it. What that guy said to you is a total hothead." Denki agreed with him, and I smiled. "Thank you, guys.. That means a lot to me."
"Anytime kiddo, here's your stop kids. Oh hey. Feel free to talk to me anytime okay?" He handed us a card. I took it and nod, smiling. We got out of the car and stood in front of the building. "You ready Izu?" I nod. With that we headed inside.
