Karli didn't get the chance to say anything because Carmen woke up and weakly called her husband's name in a scratchy voice. "Finn? Am I in the hospital?"

His attention was fully on her once again as he caressed her face. "Yeah. You're going to be perfectly fine though. You don't have any head injuries but you were pretty dehydrated because of your blood loss and being sick. They said you need to be on the IV drip a while longer but then I'm going to take work off to take care of you tomorrow."

She frowned. "You've been awake for nearly twenty-four hours. You need sleep."

"I'll get some once we're both home. Don't worry about me. I'm fine. Worry about yourself a little more, will you?"

Carmen shot him a small smile before sighing and closing her eyes. "I feel terrible. I might sleep for a week after this. I think I've earned it. The school is going to have to deal with my absence."
