A Truly Stubborn Head

Alvin was a rising star in J City's political arena, having risen to this position before the age of forty. Many people saw him as a potential candidate for future leadership in J City.

Alexander knew deep down that someone like Alvin wouldn't personally involve himself, even if he were truly connected to what lay behind Greg. He understood that Alvin wouldn't take even the slightest risk.

However, Alvin had come in person. This meant that the influence behind Greg might be even larger than Alexander had imagined.

"I've really stirred up quite a mess," Alexander sighed internally. He shook hands with Alvin, and the two seemed like old friends, chatting and laughing.

Alvin looked at the young man who appeared to be around thirty years old. Interest flickered in his eyes, and he greeted with a smile, "Captain Alexander, I heard that our outstanding entrepreneur in the city has been apprehended? What's going on?"

"Hey, it's not a big deal. Matters related to the infected, you know, they're not trivial. I just invited Mr. Greg for a chat. If there's nothing wrong, I'll personally see him off," Alexander said playfully.

Watching Alexander and Alvin conversing as if they were old friends, Deputy Captain Martha and other team members from the law enforcement side dared not look at them. Although they were all part of the national machinery, they lacked Alexander's slick and sly demeanor.

"Matters related to the infected are indeed significant. You frontline workers have really worked hard," Alvin remarked emotionally.

"Yes, it's true. Just like you heard recently, District Head Alvin, you've come here in person."

"It's only right. After all, when it comes to infection incidents, they must be handled cautiously." Alvin's smile gradually faded, and his brows slightly furrowed.

"Captain Alexander, you also know that Greg isn't an ordinary person. He's an outstanding entrepreneur in our city. If you don't have solid evidence linking him to the infected, it could affect his businesses, our city's image, and the commercial environment."

"If you have evidence, I won't interfere. But if you don't, your methods of enforcement are a bit too heavy-handed," Alvin's expression turned serious. A few men in black suits behind him also stepped forward, forming a barrier in front of Alexander.

Alexander chuckled heartily, lit a cigarette, and blew out a few smoke rings in comfort. His demeanor cast a silence over the scene.

Alvin breathed a sigh of relief. He thought that Alexander might be influenced. After all, he was just a small team captain. Faced with the pressure from the district head, he should back down. However, Alexander's attitude surprised him.

Alvin was about to say something further, but Alexander suddenly shook his head and his tone turned cold, "District Head Alvin, would you like to join us for a chat inside?"

Alexander's voice resonated from his chest, carrying a strong sense of intimidation. His gaze was sharp, and his elemental power surged, causing those behind Alvin to involuntarily feel a shiver down their spines.

"You!" As a civilian official, Alvin was taken aback by Alexander's intimidation, causing his legs to go weak for a moment. By the time he regained his composure, Alexander had already walked into the building with his subordinates.

Alexander continued explaining, "I found a list from Greg that happens to detail the individuals involved in the recent infection incident. The other people on the list are either missing or have died right in front of their homes. I believe there's ample reason to question him for 48 hours."

Alvin, standing at a distance, heard Alexander's words and felt a chill running down his spine. Fear surged within him. He realized that Greg's way of doing things was truly unscrupulous.

Alvin understood that the situation had escalated significantly, and Alexander hadn't spoken earlier because he wanted to gauge Alvin's reaction, His recent actions had surely raised suspicions in Alexander's mind.

Alvin's expression grew even uglier. He hastily picked up his phone and began dialing a number.

Not far away, Alexander calmly walked into the hallway. Martha looked at him and softly asked with concern, "Alexander, have you gone a bit too far this time?"

Martha understood that Alexander was someone unrestrained and filled with a strong sense of justice. If he hadn't been so stubborn, with his ten years of law enforcement experience, he could have easily been promoted to the head of a local law enforcement bureau instead of enduring difficult assignments at the grassroots level.

Alexander chuckled and replied to Martha, "What they should worry about now is themselves. I had hoped to catch even bigger fish" He sighed lightly and continued, "But it's fine."

With his subordinates, Alexander entered the interrogation room. He pushed the door open and revealed a radiant smile, saying, "Greg, sorry for the delay. Let's get down to business now."

Upon hearing Alexander's voice, Greg's initially confident expression instantly changed. He looked up at Alexander, as if in disbelief.

After a moment, Greg finally reacted. He had never expected Alexander to be so resolute and to continue his actions even after the news had leaked out.

"This isn't something you should meddle in, Captain Alexander. Are you really determined to get involved?" Greg didn't actually dislike people like Alexander; he sometimes even admired his enthusiasm and impulsive actions based on instincts. However, being dragged into his affairs made Greg feel extremely uneasy.

Alexander didn't want to waste words. He took off his coat, stared at Greg with a sharp gaze, as if observing a lamb about to be slaughtered.
