Chapter 3

Holm followed Daisy Johnson through the police cordon and walked into the building that looked like a gymnasium.

Looking at the posters and decorations on the beams and walls, Holm realized that some event was taking place in the gymnasium today.

Daisy looked back and saw Holm looking around, so she walked ahead and said, "The graduation dance of Midtown High is being held here today."

"These decorations and arrangements are all in preparation for the graduation dance."

After hearing what Daisy said, Holm also asked, "Did something unexpected happen at the dance?"

"If it was a normal shooting case, there wouldn't have been any need for us to come here and investigate it."

He and Daisy are agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., not police officers. Most of the cases they are responsible for are strange and bizarre events that cannot be known to the public.

So since the mission requires them to come here, it means that what happened at this dance was not simple.

Hearing Holm's question, Daisy Johnson continued, "We were asked to come here because the witnesses said that a lizard monster suddenly appeared in the middle of the dance."

"Although students and teachers were evacuated outside the gymnasium immediately, some people were still injured by the lizard monster."

"There was even an unlucky student who died here."

By the time they got to this point, Daisy and Holm had already walked to the middle of the gymnasium.

Not far from them was lying a body covered with white cloth, which should be the deceased just mentioned.

Next to the deceased was a middle-aged man in a police uniform sitting on a chair next to him, looking very distraught.

It seems that this middle-aged man in police uniform must have had a close connection with the deceased.

Faced with such a scene, Holm could only sigh in his heart and then turn his attention to the strange-looking traces nearby.

He saw a big hole in the wall next to the gymnasium, and there were many long scratches on the wooden floor.

The tables and some equipment originally arranged next to the dance floor were pushed to the ground, looking messy.

He didn't know if it was the so-called lizard monster that did it or if the people in the gym pushed them into this state to run out.

As Holm got closer, he found some unusual clues among the messy pile of tables and chairs.

He found some white, silky substance on a broken stool, and some green scales on a sharp table leg.

Holm looked at the broken stool in his hand and found many broken seats, benches, and devices in the pile of rubble.

It didn't look like they were just shoved to the ground, more like someone fought with them.

Thinking of this, Holm walked over to Daisy and told her about his recent discovery, and handed her the clues he had collected.

"There should be someone else here fighting the lizard monster they were talking about," Holm said to Daisy who was contemplating with her head down.

After Holm finished speaking before Daisy could say anything, the middle-aged policeman sitting on the stool said in a low voice, "It was Spider-Woman."

"The person fighting here was Spider-Woman. Only she has that spider silk. And I saw her when I came in."

"She was squatting here at the time, and she ran away after I shouted."

At this point, the middle-aged policeman suddenly became emotional. He clenched his fists, looking at the body in front of him, and said in grief and indignation "I should have shot directly at the time, at least this way I wouldn't have let the murderer get away."

"Poor child, poor Peter"

After hearing what the middle-aged policeman said, Holm was shocked again.

He couldn't believe his ears, couldn't believe what he heard.

When Holm heard that a lizard monster appeared here, he immediately thought of Dr. Connors after having seen the movie.

Although he didn't remember when Dr. Connors in the movie became involved with the ball, at least he remembered this villain.

This also indirectly confirmed once again that the world that Holm traveled to is the Marvel Universe, and the appearance of spider silk and lizard scales further proved that Spider-Man already exists in this universe.

But before Holm could think about it further, the middle-aged policeman's next words filled his mind with question marks.

'Spider-Woman? Poor Peter?'

Was it his memory that was wrong, or was it his ears that were wrong? The middle-aged policeman was talking about Spider-Woman instead of Spider-Man.

He was confused; after all, there has never been any mention of a female version of Spider-Man in any of the three versions of Spider-Man or the Avengers movies.

The middle-aged policeman was still talking to the corpse in front of him.

  ....

Holm took a deep breath, walked up to the corpse covered with a white cloth, and squatted down.

He slowly pulled away the white cloth on the corpse's face, wanting to verify his bold guess.

After seeing the face of the corpse under the white cloth, Holm's pupils also shrank.

Although the face under the white cloth had no glasses, the familiar features, as well as the middle-aged policeman's mumbling beside him, all confirmed that the dead man was Peter Parker, who, in Holm's impression, would become Spider-Man.

'What on earth is going on?!' Holm's heart was in turmoil at this moment, and his mind was constantly recalling the plots of the movies he had watched before.

He originally thought that even though he had traveled to the Marvel world and was a double agent of Hydra and S.H.I.E.L.D., at least he knew the plot.

With this as his power, Holm can at least stay away from the center of the battlefield when some major events happen so that he can keep his life.

But before he could be happy for long, the series of events that happened directly shattered his fantasy.

Tony Stark hadn't become Iron Man yet, but Doctor Connors had already become Lizard and started going berserk.

Spider-Man, the rival of Lizard, does not exist in this world and is replaced by Spider-Woman.

And Peter Parker, who was supposed to be Spider-Man in Holm's memory, has become a corpse and is now lying in front of him.

After going over all these clues in his mind, Holm was shell-shocked.
