"What are you saying? Dead?"

"Uhm... Yeah"

"Huh? Why? What happened?" I am very surprised that it makes me want to know every detail of what happened. -

"They have been killed." Her eyes are sparkling, and her mouth is trembling.

"Wha... Ho(w)..." I just stopped my questioning upon seeing her condition.

I frowned and said to her...

"Let's go; let us bury their bodies."

I grab her hand to take her so that we can mourn over her family's dead bodies together. This can help her endure her devastated emotions, but...

She avoided my hand by putting hers into her back and saying

"Can't do; they have been..."

Suddenly tears pour out of her eyes, and finally she cries really hard.

Knowing what she probably meant, I immediately hugged her to my chest.

"Sorry, Im very sorry..."

She then grabbed my shoulder. I can feel her arm shaking and her hand holding really tight to me. She is even rubbing her head on my chest, saying...

"My family was... They were... They were only there... only on my sight... but... They have been EATEN helplessly!

I... I can't do anything; I can't defend; I can't help.

She cries really loud and can't speak the word clearly because of the tears flowing into her mouth. -

"Tsk, I'm very sorry, Sei. I should have been there."

Damn that monster, damn! I think to myself,

"M., my mother pushed me ahead when she got bitten. The only thing I saw on her was whooshing blood except for her blood-stained hand that was left from the assault. I still tried to reach it, but it was also devoured along with my little sister that was just standing by my side."

I tightly embrace her as she continues.

"It was so fast. Its fangs are even already peircing my body. I should've died there, but... But the monster was killed!"

She then lowered her voice and mumbled

"It's just... Why do I have to survive?" a silent voice

"Yeah, it's hard to live alone," I muttered.

"But it's alright. Your mother saved you for you to survive. Nothing else. You don't have to think about anything else."

The next thing I know is that she's already asleep.

"Sigh..." I let out a breath.

"Well, at least you survive... while, as a hopeless person, I had even thought that you were probably dead somewhere at that time. Who would've thought that, for that short time, the damage was this great?"

"We are still fortunate that the whole kingdom even survived."

"We are fortunate," I uttered in a silent voice.

I then put Sei on the bed and look for other alternatives that I could sleep on.

When I pass through the table...

OH! She has really bothered to prepare food for me.

"This girl...Sigh..."

I then eat alone, sobbing.

I am done eating and am on the table. I have my cheek on my right hand, resting on the back of its fingers.

I look outside through the glass window.

"Whoah..." - I am seeing a very pleasing scenery. -

I walk to my drawer to get something and go out to the apartment's terrace to fully enjoy the view.

I am resting my forearm against the terrace barricade as I look upward.

"Ahh..." I relax myself.

I am seeing a view that is very relaxing to the eyes. There are these yellow lights that are reflecting off the clouds. These red lights are shining really brightly on the horizon. These orange lights are covering the whole sky.

"Sunset sure is a gift."

The whole place is colored orange, yellowish, and reddish.

As time passes, the whole place gets darker as the sky turns pink.

I can feel the cool, fresh air of the night, for the warmth of the sun is fading away.

The fallen streetlights in the town started to shine. The other lamp is even blinking due to its damage.

"Sigh..."

Its just... The place is too quiet, and the only sound I am hearing is the motion of the wind.

Though it refreshes me from the frustration that I am feeling right now,

I then look over at the paper that is on my hand. The thing that I take out of my drawer

"Hmm..."

I keep staring at it and thinking...

I am not allowed to join those mysterious people. But somehow I also got this mysterious invitation.

I read the invitation letter and uttered

"Magic... huh?"

Is it possible that I can be as strong as them if I have this magic thing?

But who is that person who gave me this envelope?

Why have I been invited?

And why do I have no knowledge about these occurrences until now?

Are these people illegals or what?

Anyway, I need every tool that can make me stronger.

I will get this magic, whatever it is!

Oh! It's already nighttime! A real nighttime though (chuckles)

I then go to the dining room, arrange the chairs, and sleep on them.

I am still asleep when I smell a very satisfying aroma.

"Whoah..." I reacted very satisfied as the warm sunlight reached me and dazzled my eyes.

I yawn as I enjoy the soft pillow where my head is resting. I am very happy that I think everything favors my existence. This is how satisfying sleep is: if you sleep while your body is very worn out from a battle.

I suddenly smelled a familiar scent and said to myself,

"Wait, pillow? I did not use a pillow in my sleep, didn't I?"

"Oh! You're awake!"

- I heard Sei's voice. -

"Huh... Sei?"

When I finally settled myself, I realized I was resting my head on Sei's thighs.

I immediately get up, saying...

"Why am I asleep on your thighs? You could've just given me a pillow if that's your concern. Why do you have to carry my head? It could've hurt your leg."

"I wanted to enjoy the sunrise, so I took my time."

She answered, pointing to the chairs I had arranged as beds.

"Oh...

Ahh... You have been wanting a chair? "

I ask after knowing I occupied all three of my chairs.

"No, no, no—she denies

She added

"Well yeah, but I couldn't get myself to wake you up from your sleep; after all, your body is very exhausted from your battle. You should've rested a little longer."

As expected, this girl is really generous. She might have been wanting to relax outside to distract herself from sadness and loneliness. Yet she let me sleep in her to avoid distracting my sleep.

- The outside view is visible from the dining room's table. Sei probably sits there watching outside through the window, lending her thighs to me as pillows. -

"Well, I think... Thank you for the pillow."

"Ah no, it's nothing."

Once again, I smell this satisfying aroma. I then set my eye on the table, and whoah...

There are lots of delicious foods that are already prepared!

"Come on, sit already." Sei invited me in.

I then sit down and fit myself on the table.

I said to myself...

This really feels the same as usual; it's as if nothing has happened.

Sei is here in my apartment, preparing my food as she always does every morning.

I never thought that I would be this grateful to her. She always visits me every day, and I always reject her invitation. It always happens as if it were just a simple drop-in.

But now... I guess I'll cherish her more, and I will never let her feel lonely anymore, no matter what.

I am about to eat when I suddenly get overwhelmed by this very pleasing situation.

I feel like I am very satisfied at this moment.

The only thing I had said was...

"God of the world, you are worthy of my worship and devotion."

We then started eating.

I have noticed that Sei is looking at me with a look of curiosity in her eyes.

"Uhm, what is it? Something is wrong?"

She then replied

"Uhm.. God?"

I almost dropped my spoon out of surprise.

"What? Why? You didn't know God?"

I ask her with an obvious worry in my expression.

"You haven't heard about God?"

I added, eagerly clarifying her knowledge about God and how she does not know about it.

"Well, yeah, I guess I heard it somewhere, but what exactly is it?"

Somehow, I felt relieved upon hearing her reply. So she heard about God; it's just that she didn't know anything about it.

It's not like I have that much knowledge, but...

"God is a being that lives in a place that is invisible to humans. He rules over our world and provides food for our daily needs, but we humans could never see him."

"Huh? So you're giving your thanks and loyalty to it?"

"Yes! I am gladly giving my thanks to him! By the way, it's HIM, not IT. God is a person, not a thing or such."

Sei chuckled and said... -

"Oh, You can do laughable jokes, huh? Don't bother; I am alright now, really."

I was terrified by Sei's reaction. I am glad that she is happy and all, but this is not about someone that she could just laugh at.

"It's not a joke! It's the truth! Mind your manners, Sei!"

I yell at Sei out of anger, for she might be angering the true God. It's normal to help your loved ones avoid wrongdoing, right? Well, I should cheer her up. I just promised that I'd free her from sadness after all.

"Oh, uh, sorry, I didn't mean to yell at you; it's just..."

"No, it's my fault, I am very sorry, I am not paying attention. I thought you were joking, so I go along with it. To be honest, I am relieved that someone like you is also giving attention to a higher authority. I have been wishing for it for a long time! Hoping someone can help us out... I hope he does exist... "

"He is!" I answered to assure Sei so that she would never waver about the thought.

"Yeah! I am sure he is!"

Sei replied with her eyes closed, accompanied by a brightly shining smile, indicating she's very happy.

We then continue eating while talking about wishes we can ask from the highest authority in the whole universe!
