Steve walked out of his apartment and waited for the bus at the bus stop. He glanced at his watch and considered whether to use his awakened powers to quickly arrive at his destination. However, Steve didn't want to use his powers because his God had told him to only use them in rare occasions when humanity was in danger or to save his loved ones. Steve was fine with this because he didn't want to rely on his powers too much and risk losing the ability to feel emotions. He knew that using all of his power could affect his emotions and personality, and having everything in the world could mean losing everything in his personal life.
That's why Steve preferred to live a normal life and maintain his sense of self and emotions, rather than using his powers and potentially losing his excitement for small things over time.
The bus arrived, and Steve and a few other people waiting at the bus stop climbed aboard. The bus was advanced and had automatic driving, hovering a few feet above the road. In just ten minutes, Steve arrived at his workplace, a construction site located next to the Hero Academy.
As Steve ran towards the site, a middle-aged man shouted at him the moment he arrived. "You're so late! Who's the boss here, you or me?"
"Haha, forgive me this time, Sir Ronald," Steve laughed and tried to act casual in front of his boss.
"If you weren't capable, I would have fired you already!" Ronald shouted at Steve, clearly annoyed.
"Come on, chief, he's only a few minutes late," Roger, a blue-haired man with emerald eyes and a friend of Steve's, laughed and rested his shoulder on Ronald.
"This is not a laughing matter," Ronald reprimanded him before turning to Roger and yelling, "And don't act like we're friends, alright?"
"Alright, alright, chill, chief," Roger raised his hands in surrender.
"Get to work, you wimp!" Ronald glared at both Steve and Roger before storming off.
"Chief's blood pressure should be checked every once in a while," Roger said worriedly before shaking his head and looking at Steve excitedly. "Hey, Steve, look, we're working next to the Hero Academy!"
"Yeah... It's the prestigious academy and the future hope of the world," Steve nodded and praised it with a genuine expression.
"Right? I've always dreamed of becoming a hero since I was a child, but because I only awakened the power of super strength, I could only work as a construction worker. Sigh," Roger sighed wistfully.
"Don't be so down. Being a construction worker is a respected job," Steve patted him on the back and said comfortingly.
"Really? From my experience, I always feel looked down upon by many people," Roger sighed even more as he spoke and glared at his construction uniform.
As they walked towards the construction site, Roger's excitement at working next to the Hero Academy building was dampened as he noticed the students of the academy pointing and judging him.
"Don't mind them, let's go," Steve patted him on the shoulder before heading towards the construction site.
Roger looked at Steve and the construction site, his previously cheerful eyes now melancholic. He also followed Steve to the construction site.
