First Potions

Chapter 5

Title: First Potions

...

After finishing her shower, Azami left out the building and went towards the forest. She planned to gather more materials needed to craft the potions.

It wasn't long before she was squatting down trying to dig up herbs and plants. She also picked lots...and lots of flowers. "I think I gathered enough for today. When my level is high enough I'll go exploring deeper into this forest. I'm not sure how strong the monsters are back there, so I'll just have to wait. Guess its time for me to head back."

As she walked back towards the entrance of the forest something caught her attention. A group of wild boars were attacking something that seemed to be much stronger than them.

Azami hopped on top of a tree to see which animal fell victim to them, but was surprised to see what it was. It seemed to be a mix of a lion and a saber toothed tiger, a dangerous combo.

At least, that's what players should think...but Azami was different. "I wonder how much this could sell for...no, no. It has valuable ingredients I can use for myself!" She chuckled to herself.

'I'll have to kill those boars before they ruin my precious ingredients even more. Hm...a spear should work.' Azami created a sharp spear and threw it at one of the boars. It pierced through the body, going from the head to the ass.

The attack made them turn away from their prey and towards her. Azami made another spear and killed the one closest to her.

*SQUEAL!!*

Azami jumped out the tree as the boars rushed towards her. She twirled the spear around with ease, making a bloody mess of the boars rolling heads.

*ding!*

[Level Up! You have reached Level 13]

'Eh? How'd I level up so fast?'

[LV. 8 - Wild Boar]

She didn't realize it'd be easy to kill something only two levels below her, or it could've just been her strength. "Now lets check what this thing is.."

[LV. 20 - Smilodon]

"Fuck he's strong! No wonder there was such a large group of boars. Seems like its still has some life in it though.."

Even though the Smilodon was obviously on the verge on death, it still snarled aggressively at Azami. She could barely hold in her smile as she stabbed the spear through its heart. "Such an easy way to gain XP!~"

A thought appeared in Azami's mind as she put her hand over the body of the monster.

"Collect."

As she said this, the body of the Smilodon started to disappear into particles before it was completely gone. Azami checked her inventory and saw that the body had actually been put into her inventory. She smiled at the new discovery and did the same to the body of the boars,

except they were headless.

Happy with the materials she'd gathered, Azami went back to the lab to create potions for the first time.

After putting her collected materials away, Azami looked at one of the recipes she'd written down. "I'll need 1 Wild Orchid, 2 Chamomiles, 1 Rabbit Horn, and 10 milliliters of water. Grind the horn into dust and sprinkle on herbs. Once thoroughly coated, grind herbs into paste and boil. Stir until completely dissolved. After mixture turns an orange color add a leaf of mint and let it boil. Keep boiling until mixture has a reddish hue."

"Okay, lets begin." Azami immediately got work. She first grinded down the horn, then sprinkled it over. After slowly grinding the herbs into paste, she added it to the water and boiled for a few minutes. Once the color changed Azami added the mint and boiled the mixture for 20 minutes. "Seems like this batch can only produce 10 small vials.."

[Small Health Potion - Common]

[Instantly heals 15 HP]

[Item can be sold at market.]

"Only 15 HP? Not much at all... I'll try some others." Although the first potion didn't do much, she was still happy with her first creation. Azami went over to the chest and took out lots of different materials. She read over the recipes she wrote down and began creating new mixtures. After three hours of mixing, grinding, and boiling Azami was only able to create two notable potions.

As she inspected them, her lips curled up into a smile.

[Small Health Potion - Uncommon]

[Instantly heals 50 HP]

[Small Mana Potion - Uncommon]

[Instantly regens 50 Mana]

"These are amazing! I'll keep the first batch for myself and create more to sell." Azami wasted no time and began creating many batches of potions. Azami was so focused on working, she didn't realize her level was slowly going up each time she crafted one.

In just an hour, Azami had created 100 vials of each. "This is 200 in total. How much can I sell one batch of ten for? I'll have to visit the market later anyways, so I'll just find out then. I've been reading off recipes the entire time. Maybe it's possible to make an original potion... I won't know until I try!"

She took out the most valuable ingredients in the chest and laid them on the table. In the book she'd read, it listed out all the herbs and plants from most common to the rarest in the game. Of course, it also included many secret ones that only Azami was able to know. The ones Azami had weren't all that rare, but it would take some time to find them.

"I have 5 Rosemary, 8 Yam Roots, Avile Grass, a few clovers. What else should I use? Oh, I have an idea! This room might become messy though." She pushed everything to the side of the room, leaving an empty space in the middle. Azami took out the Smilodon she'd killed earlier and laid it on the floor.

"There's no place for me to hang the body up. If I do it while the body is on the floor the room will get even messier! Maybe this will work.." Azami closed her eyes.

Suddenly, a pole that stretched across the room with two hooks attached formed. Azami somehow without difficulty picked up the body and hung on the hooks. She grabbed a large bucket that was in the corner of the room and put it under the body. Azami created a small dagger and slit the monster's neck. Its blood flowed down into the bucket quickly filling it up.

"Once that's done I'll start making my own potion." She said.
