When Marcos Mondragon, a young and politically ambitious doctor in Puerto Rico, goes to sleep following a night out with his friends he only expects to wake up with a mild hangover. Instead, he wakes up in a bedroom that isn't his, in a mysterious building unlike any he's ever been in before, taller, smarter, stronger, and with an array of mysterious superpowers.
What's worse though is that when he leaves the building for the first time he is greeted by the biggest crowd of people he's ever seen, in a place that is incredibly unlike Puerto Rico. The people who greet him believe that he is the reincarnation of an ancient folk hero from their oldest myths: a demigod who embodied health and heroism.
Marcos, both an incredibly capable doctor, and also a wildly ambitious individual, decides to embrace the role and begins an adventure that may end with him being devoured by native witch-doctors, or with him transforming a slowly decaying, isolated colony of a strange empire at the edge of a mysterious world into a thriving, healthy province.
