Tools of Slaughter: Story of a Human

In a world filled with war and horror, she was a tool of slaughter. She fought her way emotionlessly through the war for her masters' commands. But it isn't until they die that she realizes how much the people she killed meant to her. ... People say that being immortal would be an incredible dream come true, but they are liars. Immortality is a nightmare. People also say that they would rather have no feelings than to feel hurt. But she would rather feel something than to feel nothing at all; especially when people who care about her die right in front of her, under her own hands. She would do anything to become human. To live, to feel, to die. To be in control of her own fate. Even if it means losing everything. ---- Author's note: - In-depth characters - The pace is a little slow - There are a lot of genres, such as action and military, but they don't have their full potential showcased in the first 2 volumes This is my first novel~ I hope you enjoy it!

What Could Sadness Bring?

… A month later…

Two months had passed since Carlos left for camp, and Fei continued to read and train.

The instructors had long labeled her a genius, a person who was able to perfectly learn something when only taught once.

In fact, they dread each session where Fei would meet with them.

She learned the techniques and how to skillfully use them in a couple of fights. Fei memorized and analyzed the different moves that were used and integrated them into her skills. There was simply no need to teach her since she could self-learn so easily.

Most of her teachers struggled to find things to teach her as the week came to an end. For many of the 'classes,' it was simply Fei practicing by herself or using her teacher as a self-movable dummy to practice her techniques on.

She sucked their knowledge dry. Yet even after all that, she still wasn't satisfied!

After every meeting, Fei would have this look of disappointment, as if her teachers didn't give her the knowledge she wanted.

After teaching Fei, those professionals had nightmares for weeks and even questioned their own ability. After all, they heard that the girl had only started her journey in the arts of combat two months prior!

Purely monstrous!

In addition, Fei utilized so many techniques that her fighting style gradually became unpredictable. Slowly, none of the teachers could beat her in mock battles. Eventually, all of those who fought against her would lose.

No one could go against her.

Everyone who trained against Fei all agreed that this girl is one of the fiercest warriors in the city, country, or maybe even the world.

However, Fei still continued to follow her schedule that still continuously assigned her to new teachers, even though so many of those teachers had inferior skills to her.

She remembered what her respected Wing Chun teacher had once told her: Do not walk on the earth in haughty style. You can neither tear the earth apart, nor can you match the mountains in height.

So even though these people are weaker than I am, I can't look down on them. Perhaps I can even learn from their varied experiences. After all, I have only experienced less than a year of this world.

While Fei was whole-heartedly focusing on learning, there was also a person who silently watched her.

A girl with a pair of foggy gray eyes rested her elbows onto the windowsill, looking down at the faraway figure that was almost hidden by the trees.

A few strands of unkempt hair fell forward, blocking her vision, and she pushed it back behind her ear.

"Masera, what is today's date?" Eyrie asked wearily.

"It is the 25th of October, Miss." The servant humbly replied, not daring to raise her voice.

Eyrie bit on her already fractured nails as her eyebrows furrowed.

Time passed too quickly…

These days, she often felt restless. In fact, ever since Fei arrived, Eyrie had become fraught with worry over her family's future as well as the entire world's. Previously, she didn't really understand the urgency of the situation and had taken her time to play the role of the 'prodigious' child.

But now… The seemingly inevitable dim vision of the future could not get off of Eyrie's mind. She couldn't just watch as her family's legacy tumbled down!

Nor could she ignore the fact that Country A would topple from its position as the highest power into becoming one of the lowest. Could she?

No! She can't! She just can't!

But what can she even do?

Nothing.

Nothing.

She could do nothing!

No! She has to do something! She has to…

Eyrie had a mental breakdown as she suddenly snapped her head back up.

When she spotted the mutant that was intently listening to a lecture, her eyes softened.

But how could she ever harm her?

In her past life, Fei and Eyrie were the best of 'friends'.

Others might feel skeptical since Successes were basically programmed robots. But that's not true. Eyrie knew it best. Successes were once human, and they were programmed to have the human characteristics they once had.

They could have people they cared for as well. They had thoughts and beliefs.

At least that's what Eyrie thought.

They were human, in a way. Perhaps even better humans than actual humans themselves, she lampooned to herself.

Eyrie couldn't help but get teary whenever she thought about the past. But what could sadness bring? It's useless.

Why did she even get reincarnated? She was so stupid in her past life, and even in this life as well. She's not as intelligent as her sister, nor has as much resolve as her brother.

The corners of Eyrie's lips lifted as she laughed bitterly to herself.

What can she ever accomplish?

Suddenly, an idea sparked in her mind.

Even Successes have emotions. So how could Mutants not?

With her new thought, Eyrie no longer felt as depressed. She held her hands against the sunlight that spilled into the room.

No good Eyrie, she thought to herself as she examined her nails that felt raw and were wounded from all of the biting.

She glanced at the maid that stood in the opposite corner of the room. "Go find me a suitable dress for outdoors."

What is Eyrie trying to do?

Fei herself doesn't feel any change within her that is brought about by the Wing Chun master, but to what extent is this untrue?

By the way, that quote the respected Wing Chun master spoke of is from the Quran, for all those wondering. ;)
