Tools of Slaughter: Story of a Human

In a world filled with war and horror, she was a tool of slaughter. She fought her way emotionlessly through the war for her masters' commands. But it isn't until they die that she realizes how much the people she killed meant to her. ... People say that being immortal would be an incredible dream come true, but they are liars. Immortality is a nightmare. People also say that they would rather have no feelings than to feel hurt. But she would rather feel something than to feel nothing at all; especially when people who care about her die right in front of her, under her own hands. She would do anything to become human. To live, to feel, to die. To be in control of her own fate. Even if it means losing everything. ---- Author's note: - In-depth characters - The pace is a little slow - There are a lot of genres, such as action and military, but they don't have their full potential showcased in the first 2 volumes This is my first novel~ I hope you enjoy it!

The Art of Gun Shooting

Fei stood in front of a tall and fit man dressed in a black suit.

She took a deep breath and closed her eyes.

When she opened them a split second later, her eyes were one of a ferocious beast's. She held up a revolver and shot, before rushing forward to kick at the man.

The man had dodged the bullet and shot back at her with high velocity but hadn't expected the 'frail' girl to feint nor to possess such superior speed. He dodged again with a crouch, but only barely.

He cursed inwardly and reached out in an attempt to grab the leg that was in front of him. But unexpectedly, Fei placed her hands on the ground beneath them and did several flips, flipping out of his reach.

Immediately, the man shot several powerful yet unpredictable shots with his gun, each aiming at Fei's vitals and at her surroundings, trying to prevent her from escaping.

But the girl skirted around the battlefield and dodged most of them; only her calf and shoulder were wounded by bullets that she took to advance quicker.

She was rapidly closing in on the man in black, after realizing that his close combat skills were much worse than his gunning skills.

Fei clawed at his neck, which he again dodged, but at the expense of his gun. That clawing motion turned out to be a feint again!

While the man had struggled to balance himself and dodge at the same time, Fei had used her leg to kick at the man's hand which was holding the gun.

The man knew what the girl was trying to do, but due to inferior reflexes and strength, he couldn't move his body the way he wanted.

His grip loosened and the gun was kicked away flying! In that split second, the man panicked.

Taking advantage of the moment, Fei threw a punch at his core that sent him crashing into the ground. Then, she twisted his arm and pinned it to his back with one hand, holding him down.

With intense focus, she held her gun to the back of his neck and pulled the trigger.

"… You… You are really good at close combat…" The tall man in the black suit said weakly as he ran his fingers through his hair that was damp with sweat. He sat up in his seat.

"Thank you for your praise,… teacher."

The battle from before was an examination performed using virtual reality. In this day and age, such technology is not rare, but the virtual reality seats that Fei used to preform that battle were very high-end.

Technology that utilized and stimulated the entire nervous system is still developing in its early stages though, so true virtual reality games were not widespread. Only devices such as VR headsets and the like were.

When lowering yourself into the seat, one could fully immerse themselves in the virtual reality world. It was made so that your entire nervous system would be stimulated, meaning that the nervous system would not be able to tell the difference between the VR world and the actual world.

And since the virtual reality device transferred all of the stimulation one received in the VR world, it also transferred the pain.

The man that was judging Fei's pre-examination was very surprised. As her new teacher that would coach her in concealed carrying training, he had been informed that Fei had never experienced being shot before. So how was it that she had been able to receive bullets so calmly?

In addition, the man had made sure to aim at places that would have more bundles of nerves and therefore be more painful when hurt, even if those places weren't vital. But it was as if she had gotten used to it, not even blinking at the pain and was able to think clearly.

He had seen the girl's cold and calculating expression as she fought him. It was simply monstrous! Even without superior skills, just that mindset of hers could allow her to defeat many professionals.

What was the point of being her teacher if she could already beat him easily? The man even felt for a second that he was inferior and instead wanted to hail her as his teacher!

But after thinking about it more clearly and calming down, the professional realized that there were many flaws within the examination that the girl showed. The most crucial was the fact that she had never seriously used her gun as a weapon; she relied on her unarmed combat way too much.

Even though Fei won the battle, the key of the fight was not to see her display her physical skills, but to test her gunning skills.

Throughout the battle, she had only ever used the gun once, and even then, the shot was used as a feint!

Once he thought of this point, the man stopped having an existential crisis and decided that he would teach his student to utilize guns more. After all, in this age, the usage and importance of physical combat paled much in comparison to the use of high-tech long-range weapons.

On the side, Fei was also pondering over the battle she just had with her new teacher. She had not expected him to be so weak.

In the split second before the fight began, she had calculated what would be the most efficient plan to win, and just in case the plan failed, she decided upon many backup plans. And in case those didn't work, she decided at last that she would just act upon the calculations that her brain automatically made during the fight.

She had created so many plans after consideration of her teacher's status as a professional and the information provided in the books that she read earlier in the day.

To her surprise though, she didn't need to use any of her back up plans and defeated him much easily than she expected.

For a second, she felt that there was no point in having a teacher who couldn't even beat her. All of her previous teachers defeated her in combat, albeit not as easily as her Wing Chun teacher did.*

But after further analysis, Fei found that perhaps she was judging him too harshly. After all, he specialized in guns, not unarmed combat.

She anticipated what he would teach her today.

Even though she read countless books on guns, Fei recognized that learning from books and learning from a teacher was completely different. The latter was far more impactful.

* not saying that Wing Chun is superior; it's just that the Wing Chun master was more of a master at his sport than her other teachers.

What do you think of Fei, who is becoming more OP? Well, she has always been OP, but this OPness is something that she earned, not innate.

On a side note, this is my first time ever writing an action scene; what did you guys think of it? XD

Creation is hard, cheer me up!
