Why bother?

Now that I've realized that I have no recollection of where home is…I began asking around for the King's estate. While doing this, not only did many people fire their agnered gazes but they would speak of its inhabitants with great displeasure.

However there was one woman who gave me the actual directions to the estate, she was nice and very comfortable to be around. Although, the sheer detail of where and how many routes there were to it, gave me not only the creeps but raised some red flags about her in my mind. After making a rough detail of her completion and choice of attire, I left in search of my home.

Now, if there was one thing I was sure of, it was that I and my current family would be alive until all of my memories have returned.

As I finally made it to the street closest to where the women instructed me to go, I began searching around for areas that seemed the most familiar. Well, that was until my auntie appeared behind me and lifted me up like a sack of potatoes.

"Now, where on Earth did you go without me and the others noticing?" She said as she began to move closer towards the King estate.

"Well, I went out to go and familiarize myself with the city and its people, but things didn't end up as expected." I replied, as I noticed the Ki Drain message appearing before me. However this time, I selected no, I would not be the fall of my family members just in order to gain a small sum of power.

"Well that for sure, seeing as you've been missing for a total of almost two days. I wonder, just what was Ka'dar thinking seeing you alone in the city at a time like this?" She heavenly sighed once she was finished speaking.

"Actually, I have a few things I think that you should be able to provide me with, will you?"

"Shoot sport." She said as she gently me stood up and off her back, onto the ground and gestured in a direction for us to continue our walk.

"Straight to the point, good," I thought.

"What is it the Golden actually does, and why must we join them in order to hone our Ki?" I asked, it was better to keep this conversation more informational rather than ensuring my doubts about the Golden right off the bat.

She may be right to the point, but I'm not, I'm willing to even plan my future breaths in order to obtain information about this new world. While past information and events of the old one resurface.

"We Golden members, help fight in the war against the beast created by our family, and everyone inside of the family that lives in the estate is pretty much a Golden member. This is our way of paying back the wrongs of our older brother, in other words your father."

"Such information is widely known to the public anyways, so I see no reason for you not to know it as well." She stated as her entire demeanor became that of one more focused and influenced, almost like she was being interviewed for a job of some kind.

"Now as for your other question, well, it's because we need certain resources found in dangerous places to cultivate or Ki, which happen to either come from beasts or are in the territory of beasts."

"You'll understand more once you pass your entrance exams and sign-up for becoming one of its members, but if you can't focus on anything else then focus on Ka'dar's teachings. They'll help you more than you think, especially in the long run, now go inside of the house and tell them basically what you told me and they should calm down a bit more."

"This is bye for now, Sport!" She said as her cheery self returned once again and as she left me right on the footsteps of the front door.

"Well, she sure is interesting. Basically what she was saying is that my father caused the birth of this entire war and has left its weight on his relatives. Now, I know that I should feel some kind of sorrow for those lost inside of the explosion or whatever happened in that lab, but I just can't."

"No one in the world could possibly understand how hard this burden is for my family to have to carry. And no one seems to care about their contributions in the war, they can only think of why it happened."

"So what point is there in changing their opinion, I mean what's the point in fighting in the war if they're never going to care about the people who saved them?"

"Maybe I'm just looking too far into things, plus I have more immediate matters to attend to." I spoke to myself before opening the front door and after letting all my current emotions subside.

"I'm back!" I shouted once the door was open wide to only see three figures cowed around a table with what looks like a map of the city.

'To think that they were this worried, I guess this is what it means to have or rather be in a family.'

Just then my uncle walked from across the room and hugged me, although today it wasn't a bear hug but one full of painful emotions. I could even feel the wet sensation of water running down my neck, my uncle, he was crying!

"I'm sorry," were the first words that came out of his mouth before he pulled away from me.

"I'm sorry that I was so reckless and not only forgot about the state the world is in today but your stubborn nature." He spoke before wiping away his tears.

It was then that I remembered that this entire situation was my fault, I had caused this problem by leaving out without a guard. If only I had taken one with me, not only might they have been able to scare off the Golden members but also protect me.

"Well, I'm glad that you're safe, and that no harm has been done. At the time I thought that If I had only just told you to take a guard with you because of the frequent scouting beasts that you would listen to me. Although it seems that you need to be informed if you're inclined to listen."

"Now I feel like my father scolding your father, ha."

"Alright the reason I told you to take a guard with you is because, right now the King family doesn't have the best public opinion, which makes me think that if they knew of your alive status that they would target you for one of their losses. Don't be naive, it has happened to me and maybe might even happen to you."

As he said those words, I thought of the Golden members who seemingly attacked me for no reason, however this can't be the real reason why they tried to capture me, right?

Now, there was something that they said which leads me to believe that it's for another reason entirely. Their leader made it clear that their higher-ups wanted me back to them and alive, what they were planning to do I haven't a clue but it's reason enough to try and pass the entrance exams and find out some more concrete information.

"I promise to always bring a guard with me wherever I go, so can I take a shower now, it's been a long day?"

"Well, I would say yes, but you've already proven that you can't follow directions. So, I've created the perfect solution! I'll just follow you around wherever you go, be it in the house or outside it, sounds good right?"

"Ah, sure."

'It's going to be a bit much, but this should make sure I'm protected at all times, pretty much a win-win situation for me.'

"And once you're out of the shower we can finally begin your training, and then sign you up, together." He said, while stretching the word together.

'Finally, it's time for my training, well after my quick shower, I smell like I was born in a dumpster.'

I know, you don't need to tell me that this is a system novel. I'll get more into the system soon, so stick around and don't worry!
