Mistakes (1)

We set off east of our current position, searching for small groups of Grade 1 or Rank 1 beast. I came to notice that the group would either call the beast Rank 1 or Grade one. However there was no difference in its physical capabilities or anything else, so I just ignored the swapnings of Rank and Grade.

Plus, wouldn't I receive this information once I passed the entrance exams? If so, then all the more reason to become more experienced and practise my new and old forms of martial arts. Also I came to notice that I wouldn't receive anything from killing beasts, not if I personally killed it or landed one blow and someone else did.

So one again I was truly only here for the battle experience, or so I thought until I landed the finishing blow on a boar type magical beast with unpredictable wind magical abilities or should I say element? My knowledge of beasts is still very low. As I was saying, once life left the beast's eyes, a notification appeared before me.

{First Beast Jewel Obtained!}

[1 Beast Jewel Absorbed!]

[Now calculating first time bonus!]

[Host has been given both Stat points and Skill points!]

[No Magical Affinity obtained.]

[Stat Points: +5 Unallocated!]

[Skill Points: +3!]

'Holy crap! Where was this first time bonus before hand, like when I leveled up and ate my first brain, you remember that don't you system?'

"Hey Marcel, are you coming or what? I mean you could stay here but then if you died Clare would get in trouble so, hurry up and pick up the pace!" One of the twins said before further accelerating their speed and leaving me behind.

'Just who do these nobodies think they are, and that woman isn't even all that cute. I've seen a woman far more attractive, but she knew a bit too much about where I stay. No yeah, I think I prefer Clare.' I thought before trying to match the group's speed.

'Alright so just what have I gathered so far, Beast Jewels I presume either have a chance of giving stat points or skills points, and lastly a magical affinity.'

'Which is why I got two of the rewards except one, due to the first time bonus. Thus one Beast Jewel equals points in stats, skills, or a freaking magical affinity. Now I'd kill to be able to shoot fire or wind blasts from my hands.'

'I've also been shown a few more things on this trip of mine, my weaknesses. I'm always the one to force the group to slow down due to my low stamina. I've also noticed how their attacks either due more or less than my attacks. I should remember that I'm not using my new skill, and that they're most likely using their Ki, but still a weakness is a weakness.'

'I'll try and get more corpses, plus seeing as how rudely I'm being treated they shouldn't mind me taking more rewards as a compromise.' After finishing my thoughts, I looked over to an inventory tab which I had been storing my kills inside of, and thought that I'd need a lot more If I wanted to find out more about my Golden "Kidnappers".

After amassing a total of twenty corpses I stopped stealing the last hits from my party members, seeing as some of them almost started to catch on. While we all gathered up and sat around one another I was wondering something, where are all of their kills? Then I saw Clare point her ring finger at the ground and a pig appeared, to which I got my answer and she saw me staring at her.

'She most definitely saw me staring, eh I couldn't be bothered. I have bigger fish to fry, plus I got my answer. She's wearing some sort of ring that allows her to store items. I can only assume it works just like my inventory space.'

As I made that realization not only were all the other boys shooting daggers into my back, but a red skinned winged beast appeared from the sky and a bumpy bear with gray fur ponced on us from their respective areas.

However there wasn't much the three boys and I could do and we were instantly able to tell that with just one look at the beasts. For them it was fear, for me it was more like an instinct, however like all beasts it's kill or be killed, and instincts or not, if your life's on the line, then you'll fight against a higher power.

'I won't let my journey end here, in fear or not I must still fight, or how else will I last in this world? Someone had to set the foundation of my city from scratch, they pushed on, and just like that I will do the same!' When I finished my short speech, I was greeted by a notification.

[- 8 Life Force!]

"ARGG!" I shouted in pain as the gray coated bear rushed into me with its body, sending me several meters away from the group. My body then hit the back of one of the many trees causing another notification to appear.

[- 1 Life Force!]

As I slid down the tree seemingly lifelessly, I noticed another message appear.

[Ding!]

[0:00!]

[Your vision has been all used up now switching into Motion Base, while recharging!]

The system's female voice rang out throughout my head. "Well, I guess you could say, in the end the beast saved me. Plus, I doubt they'll survive with only Clare fighting for them, the other three were just as scared as me, well I guess, kindness is key and karma is real."

Or so I thought.

"Nice to meet you Marcel King, I am number 3 and these are my friends, number 4, and lastly number 5." A demonic voice, which ended in a growl spoke out to me as I smelt a hybrid scent along the lines of a Human and Magical Beast approach from all sides.

"You're not Human?" I asked before succumbing to the dangerous pressure each figure carried and a sense of everlasting fear. Which I had never felt before, not even while trapped under the debri, or when I was flunge away by a Grade 2 Beast. The pressure was even more suffocating than my auntie's Ki, and it was even halting my breathing.

"No formalities, Humans always were straight to the point creatures. I mean after we declared our independence from your race's strongest, you all force us to have battle after battle, and probably into an endless war. Just because we wouldn't live like your cattle. I mean my species was killed off long ago, but we're back now and even if you all won the war, which is impossible, we would still come back like a never ending cycle. Like a stain on the Human race, your father's mistake, became your species."

"However I'm here today to pose a win-win situation for you. If you were to join us you would not only be alive once the war is over but would also join as a leading commander, still below me of course but high up in our ranks nonetheless."

"So what do you say, wait nevermind, take some time to think about it and the rewards you receive today are a present. I suggest once you're all healed you go and find your teammates, have fun and think long and hard about my proposal. You only have a few months before my hand is forced. Toodles, young one." Number three said before walking off and into the woods, while I noticed a warm feeling coming from my pants.

"The boss must really see great things in you for him to maximize ten precent of our final forces just for our meeting today." Number three whispered as he continued deeper into the forest.

"I totally peed myself, no need to think about it I mean who wouldn't?" I said as I was forced to wait cold, in a wet area until my vision and health returned.

"But at least he didn't kill me."

A few minutes after their encounter these events played out with his teammates, unknown to Marcel, it was something that could only be described as a bloody massacre…
