Just a little drunk on power…

With my spear in hand I acknowledged his challenge, and charged straight into battle. 'He's a gauntlet user so I should try my best to keep my distance and fight against his killing intent. After all this is a battle for survival and to prove myself!' I thought while charging in but staying at a range where only my attacks would reach.

BAM!

That sound was made once my instructor kicked off the ground and suddenly appeared by my side.'There wasn't even an afterimage!' I thought to myself while keeping true to the fight and battling in close rage with a series of swift pierces.

Sure I was at a disadvantage but I'd always fought in close range rather than mid-range so this wasn't his territory, but mine! My spear struck horizontally with one swing that carried enough force to push my instructor back and give me space to launch a series of diagonal attacks. 'Like a raging tide..' thought before I witnessed my spear get parried off to the side and took a direct strike to my chest, or I would have if I hadn't already side stepped the attack.

"Time to kick up the speed." I spoke to my instructor for the first time during our match. And it was needless to say that I was true to my words as my strikes flowed faster and weren't as fixed as they would be with a sword. I struck his left thigh and right shoulder in one wide arc before suddenly I began falling to the ground. This man…he'd actually swept my leg with enough force to drop me onto the ground.

As I fell to the ground, he appeared above me and was looking down on me.

"I see, you have little experience in fighting humans, yet you managed to last the longest against me. Remember this, when entering a battle you have to keep your eyes on your opponent, don't lose yourself in your mind planning your next attack for too long or else like I have done, your opponent will swiftly counter it after finding the weakest point.

And unlike beasts we humans possess many different fighting styles and techniques. You should look into creating your own techniques but first go over your foundation and solidify it with morals and goals that will lift you up on your journey ahead." My instructor said before giving me a hand and lifting me up off the ground.

"Yes sir!" I said before going and finding some else to spar with per my instructor's instructions. 'My goals require two key things, my survival, and power.'

With my survival and power I can assure that my family and I are kept safe from all variables. Anyway it's time for me to use these students as ways to create my first technique.

'System limit my stats to the one before me.' I ordered the system and upon receiving the notification I went to town. Now with this training method I'd be able to just train my control and advance my movements with the spear.

"Shall we?" A woman with wooden daggers asked me before we both stepped into the square.

"Since your new I'll explain, rules are if one of us exits the square they lose and whoever can't continue or hits the ground first is out. Got it?" She said and I followed up with the slight shake of my head.

As we began she charged in and began delivering fast strikes and swipes at my body and head all while I continued to dodge making sure to not exit the square. I was practically dancing on the borders of losing already.

'Since my tactics last round with the instructor didn't work that means instead of planning I should respond like this!' I thought before an opening revealed itself on the girls lower torso. Quickly I thrusted my spear into the opening and once she felt the impact she quickly lowered one of her hands to cover her stomach. 'This is it! It's so much easier fighting this way than planning out the battle! Why control the field of battle when you can simply take it!' I realized when I saw the opening in the girls guard due to the newly positioned right hand, and that was when I struck.

In a quick spinning motion to build up momentum and more power in my spear I struck the girl right on her face!

BAM!

That was the sound the spear made on contact and the girl fell to the ground.

"AHH!" She cried out while on the ground holding her cheek but I was far too busy with my breakthrough to care.

"My style's just like surviving in battle rather than controlling the field. I adapt just like I have been doing all along in this new world." I said while a newfound pressure came off me in small rolling waves, it wasn't killing intent but rather the thirst for battling stronger and more knowledgeable opponents, Battle Intent!

Why? Even though I hadn't realized it yet, I liked seeing the faces of those who were stronger than me positioned at my feet. Or you could say I just liked having superiority in other words power.

Soon a few people came over to check on the girl while I walked off and over to the next square with only one person, this was my true hunger. The two people who quickly ran over were Partica and Steward. After checking on the girl and apologizing in my stead which was something even I didn't think we were close enough to do, but putting that tap bit aside I stood before a boy just around my height if not taller.

Like all clichés I soon came to realize by his expression that he cared deeply for the girl who I had just won against. "How dare you treat her like that? She even bothered to make sure you understood our rules and you could at least help her up? I'll make you pay for humiliating my sister in such a way!" The boy shouted as he stepped into the circle.

"Sister? That's right, almost everyone in the world is born with a family so what right does mine have to be placed above theirs…The fact that I care about them more is all I can give you. They are my sole reason for living and the reason why I have this thirst for battle, no for power. So let us fight for our families." I said before stepping into the square.

Once I entered immediately the boy's Sai weapons began to glow, he was empowering them with Ki while I ordered the system to match our stats.

Suddenly many people gathered around to come and watch our fight, and soon I learned that this boy was this class's best fighter. Not bothering to enfuse the spear with Ki I watched as the boy began emitting actual killing intent, for such a small matter.

Our two invisible pressures fought, as we began battle. Our battle was around an hour long with me countering each of his strikes and him almost grazing my body. Soon I attacked an opening but it turns out the boy was crafty enough to fake them. Then he dodged my spear before stabbing me in the stomach to which I didn't flinch in pain and struck his back with the bit of my spear, the forced pushed him down on the ground and he rose with my spear to his neck.

"What is your sister's name?" I asked.

"Amari," the boy replied and I walked over and gave a short bow to the girl still holding her cheek and apologized.

"I'm sorry," I said with my battle intent still radiating after receiving an 'it's ok' I returned to the boy and said sorry as well. After all, I don't know why but I'd lost my control over my emotions today. I wasn't trying to be a jerk at all, it was just sort of natural like this was how I always wanted to be but couldn't show it. And even now I only said sorry because I knew that I'd done something wrong but truthfully I couldn't care, maybe I really was changing, after all I'm no longer human, I'm a Wendigo, a greedy beast that did whatever it had for power or that's what I gathered from last night anyway.

Ding!

Once the bell rang I made my way out of the classroom and awaited my guides. Today I would actually say that I was a little drunk on power.

Little did I know but my instructor was shaking in excitement, and he began repeating these words over and over, "I've finally found someone with greater potential than myself, not to mention the boy's strength and drive for power! Yes! Yes, this is who I want my disciple to be."

Have some idea about my story? Comment it and let me know.

Happy New Years!
