Chapter 9 My decision Part 2

As I was getting comfortable in my VR set, I realized something. Having a man in my room watching me while I was in the middle of the VRMMO was a bit embarrassing. My body would literally be helpless to anyone and everyone. I need to make sure my ad was perfect and I also need to get a lock or three for my door. Really glad Sam was able to watch over me and that he liked men.

I turned on the VR set and it began loading up the game. I noticed on the bottom left there was a forum button and decided to reach for it. I tapped it and got the message boards I was just about to look for in the game. I found countless ads and posts. Looking through them I saw a few posts that made me internally flinch. People were asking for information on who found the chalice and they weren't offering a small amount of any and all information. I thought about providing some information to get some of the gold offered. It would really help me pay the people I hire and insure my protection. I looked at the hiring ads to see what the going rate is and I was surprised at how cheap a lot of them were. 2 Gold a month was pretty cheap but then again, I don't know what my role will be or how much I will make. It made me decide that I should be a shopkeeper so I can have a chance to make good money. I set up an ad stating:

New player to game looking for staff.

Body guard(s) starting out pay 2 gold a month with option of loyalty bonus

maid/butler starting out pay 2 gold a month with option of loyalty bonus

Other special perks can be discussed after applying and being accepted for an interview. Please provide qualifications and any past experience in your response to this ad.

I liked how my ad looks so I posted it to the VR boards. Every city and town have a VR board that is battery powered. Batteries can only be made in Hope's Paradise. They provide power to all VRMMO stuff being player sets, merchant payment methods, artisan accounts, farmer markets for stuff they need or want. They even provide limited batteries for lights for houses. Orphanages like the one I live in has some solar panels that provide a touch of power of the building batteries. I knew me charging my VR sets taxes the batteries but I can always pay some gold to have more batteries delivered more routinely to help me out with power. Everyone dreams of living in Hope's Paradise as they have all the luxuries, we all used to take for granted. Hot water without having to heat it up is my dream. It's simple but it's my dream.

So now with my ad in place I decided to look at the requests for information posts. People were asking for information on who found the chalice and offering anywhere from 20 gold to some even going as far as 300 gold. Most wanted the name of the person while others were asking for any information at all. It really made me wonder what would happen if my information actually got out. I decided to make a few coins by posting that I heard some reliable information about who found it and people could offer me gold for what I heard. Shockingly not even a min after it was posted I got packages of gold offered that ranged from 5 gold to 100 gold depending on the information provided. I thought about what I could say and settled on race and rank.

I replied to the offers that I know the race and rank and waited to see how much they offered to me for the information. What felt like hours to hear back ended up only being about 10 mins. Supplying them with that information I added up the coins to be 325 gold. I liked the sound of it so I sent them all the information I agreed to send. I loved how it was all anonymous with no names tagged on it at all. I copy and pasted the information to everyone who offered me the gold. It was set to payment sent so they can open the information. I told them the race was Dragonkin and the rank was a noble. I got countless messages asking if I knew the house or the color of the Dragonkin but I said I wasn't sure to those and if I found out more, I would share it with them. Some even offered me retainers so I would share anything else that I learned with them. I agreed to that and got extra money as well. I was shocked that in a 30min time span I made almost 5 plats.

I decided to take a minute out of the VR world and talk to Sam about what just happened. Turning off the VR set I checked my money to see I had all the money. I just stood there kind of shocked. I made 485 gold which put me at 686 gold. I had them convert it to Plat which gave me 6 Plat and 86 gold. I decided to store 4 of the Plat into the digital bank where it can make me more money. I realized that I didn't know much about the bank and decided to look into it at a later date.

Taking off the VR headset I said, "Hey Sam, I placed the ad."

I listened for a reply but nothing came. I looked around and he was nowhere to be seen. Worrying what happened to him I stood up and opened my door and he was sitting right outside my door in his chair. He jumped when my door opened and caught his leg on the chair. Flipping the chair while he was falling down, I tried to catch him and ended up being hit by the chair.

"Ouch, getting even with me for running into you earlier huh."

My smirk was pretty large on my face as he turned to look at me. His face was beat red and he looked toward the book he was reading. I bent over and picked it up and starting laughing. He was reading a little kid book with princesses. The hottest and dreamy guy in the village who is secretly a gay man is reading a little kids girly girl book. It was so typical of him. He has a person in the village that was so perfect but once you get him alone and get to know him, he is much more real. There is a reason him and I have been such good friends. Between us comparing our favored body type in our men to our dislike for girly girl woman who think fashion and make up will make them dreamboats for men. We can't get much closer without being a couple which will never happen, not that he hasn't used me as a way to get some woman off his back which I am more than fine with.

"Well now that you are already on the floor let me tell you what just happened. BEFORE you get up, I just made 4 Plat and 85 gold. So yeah, when that shock wears off feel free to get up instead of looking at me like I am amazing and yet nuts."

"Oh, really tell me how that happened. I might just stay right here while you do it. I am quite comfortable like this I will have you know."

I looked at his position, he has a chair over his legs that still look caught in between the legs while his head peaked over the top of the back of the chair half on his side and half on his stomach. His neck had to be getting tired twisting so much just to look at me. Laughing at him, I grabbed the chair to get it off him.

"Yeah, uh huh you sure do look comfortable in that odd position. Oh, hello Sister Amy!"

He jumped and turned to instantly get up with his head down saying, "I am so sorry Sister Amy."

I doubled over laughing and he looked up. It was just us in the hallway. The look he gave me was priceless as it was both upset and embarrassed with humor leaking in.

"I so got you there Sam. The look on your face and how fast you jumped up. Oh my, I can't wait to tell Josh all about this the next time I see him."

He shook his head at me. Pleading, "Please don't tell him about that, he will tease me for weeks. Come on now I am doing you a favor by looking out for you.

I raised my eyebrows wishing I could do the one eyebrow raise and said "YOU are doing ME a favor? you have a free week to relax and you are being paid by Mr. Smith as well as have a free deli sandwich waiting for you and I was planning to give you something as well. Wow Sam just wow." I tried so hard to sound like I was scolding him hit the humor was too strong in my voice and I couldn't stop the smile either.

He hung his head and covered his face with his hands.

"I am so dead with Josh now."

"You could make it worth my while to keep me quiet."

He looked suspiciously at me.

"What do you want me to do or from me? I am not wearing a dress and posing for you. I won't do that again no matter how much I owe you or you pay me."

I started laughing again. My sides were starting to hurt from all this laughing.

"I just wanted one of your famous grilled cheese sandwiches and something not juice to drink. I wasn't even thinking about a dress this time. Oh, also if you could have Sister Amy come to me it would help too."

"Oh, that I can do easily for you. Does Sister Amy need to bring anything with her?"

Shaking my head, I turned around and grabbed my Black card and waved it at him.

"Ahh got Ya, I will be off then. Make sure you stay out of the VR world while I am making you food and getting you a drink."

I went back in my room and looked at the VR head set. My world has seriously changed and I haven't even had it a week yet. In fact, it's not even been 3 days yet and my world has been turned upside down. I sat on my bed and waited for Sister Amy.

About 10 mins longer I heard a knock on my door. Before I could get up, she opened the door looking very annoyed.

"Hello my child, I was told to come see you right now. I was in a meeting with Father Gregory but Sam made it seem urgent I see you right away. Father Gregory I see decided to follow me. Is everything ok? Do you need to talk to me privately? Did something happen?"

I looked at her kind of puzzled trying to figure out what she could be hinting at. She held her hand near her stomach and I finally understood what she was hinting at. When I dropped my head a little bit, she started to smile a bit with a knowing look in her eyes. I was flat out shocked that she would think that I could be pregnant and that the thought made her overjoyed.

"Well, I am fine Sister Amy. I don't need to speak with you privately but something did happen. Something wonderful and I can't wait to share it with you and... Father Gregory. This will help you both out a lot. Please come in I don't need any of the other children to hear us talk."

I moved over to the headboard of my bed and offered them a seat on my bed.

"Sorry I don't have anything else to sit on in here."

"Marie my sweet child, I thank you for your offer of a seat but I will stand. I am one with God and it would not be right to be sitting in a young woman like your self's room." Father Gregory said.

"So, what is so urgent?" Sister Amy said.

"Well, I would like to thank you guys for all the help you have given me over the years I would like to give you 2 Plat to help with this wonderful and SAFE orphanage." I made sure to emphasize the word safe a bit more then I probably should have.

"Marie, that is too much money. You will need that money for the future. We couldn't possibly accept that offer." Father Gregory replied sternly.

"Actually, it's not a hardship, I got a rare welcome package and got a full set of high-quality armor and a lot of money. Plus, I just made a lot of money and put back 4 Plat in the bank. I left out 2 Plat just for this place. So, I assure you that I have thought this through and am in no way causing me to have a hardship. I still have 86gold on my character after I help you with my offer."

"Very well then, God humbly accepts your offering and we thank you for this beyond generous gift." Father Gregory replied.

"Oh, Sister Amy one more thing I went down to the market earlier and made sure to put enough down as a credit to get every child a full-sized hot sub from the deli. They can design whatever sub they would like to try on me and it will cost them nothing."

"My child you are so thoughtful and caring of others. We all thank you for this wonderful offer."

I asked them for their orphanage information so I can send them the money. After the money was sent, they left with smiles on their face.

So now I just had to wait for Sam to return to me.
