Geography lesson

It has been one week since the jester gave Iono his ether. After a bit of thought, and the emotional scene of his mother cooking, Iono decided that since he could not move freely, at least for six months, he would enjoy his parents' company.

Their deaths stung his heart like a poisonous ivy growing inside him and he couldn't bear ignoring them. He knew that there was nothing he could do about it so, even if the reality in front of him was a dream, it was a blissful one, one that he didn't want for it to end.

His parents were a big deal in the continent but after having Iono they decide to retire in the countryside, or at least stay there until Iono was big enough to take care of himself.

Day and night, his parents would be right by his side, either spoiling him, simply looking at him and reading him stories about evil lords and beautiful princesses.

Yusef, was extremely passionate about teaching him everything he needed to know before he could even speak or move, making Anna reprimand him every other day, for trying to teach their newborn geography and literature and making Iono laugh at his father so much, that he would literally piss himself.

The realm in Iono's first life was called Yotum. It was comprised of three continents, Trissa, Togga, and Tereth. Iono's family currently resided in Trissa, which was also the biggest of the three. Other than the three continents, there were many Islands, but exploration wasn't possible because, in the depths of the oceans, many bizarre and dangerous creatures resided.

Every continent had several Kingdoms, but the one Yusef and Anna were affiliated with was called the Eastern Kingdom. Its name came from its powerful guardian, also known as the Dragon of the East, Yusef's benefactor, and Iono's indirect godfather.

The village where Iono's family spent their peaceful days, was at the borders of the kingdom, making it very remote. It had no name, as it was recently established, by none other than Iono's parents, who wanted a safe environment for their child to grow up in.

His father teaching him geography was one thing, but what he got sick of hearing was his mother's story about how his parents met. She repeated the story so many times, Iono could even copy the expressions she made when reciting it.

Yusef, after many adventures and trials, worked his way up as commander of the royal army of the Eastern Kingdom. He met his mother on the first day of work when he walked into the palace, to announce his arrival and kneeled before the royals. He lifted his head only to see the most beautiful woman he had ever imagined. Her rosy cheeks, seductive lips and emerald eyes, coupled with an hourglass figure, made her irresistible to him.

She was the second princess of the Kingdom, and also the second in line to the throne. Her older sister was the crown princess. But that didn't matter to Yusef, she could have been a backwater commoner for all he cared. He was charmed by her demeanour so much that he almost proposed to her on the spot.

After much courting and tribulations, he managed to kneel in front of her and ask for her hand in marriage. Although a princess, Yusef's prestige in the royal court was huge, as his many achievements, instilled fear in anyone who dare oppose the union.

Anna's cheeks always turned red after telling the story and Iono, although sick of hearing it, loved the fact that it did. He knew how much his parents loved each other, and more importantly how much they loved him. That made his inability to protect them, weigh on his consciousness much, much more.
