Channel Rebirth

One month went by, while Iono was enjoying his slowly, blissful life. The only problem was the baby body and its uncontrollable metabolism, which made his father, casually covered by faeces or urine. The one having it the hardest was Iono, having to deal with the embarrassment of such actions. At least his parents were prepared for it.

"It's been about a month and my core is still at the beginning stages. I know I can't move but maybe I should start refining my core. Hitting the Foundation stage before six months of life would enable me to even start body training the moment I can walk.", he thought inwardly.

The cores of mortals had different refining stages. They were split into three different realms, with the first one being the same for everyone, and the other two being different for every kind of energy one worked on. The first realm, which was called Body Sculpting, consisted of nine stages.

Foundation, Flesh Tempering, Blood vessel Tempering, Organ Infection, Blood Fusion, Bone Tempering, Marrow Fusion, Cell Reverberation and Third Eye.

The rest of the realms were all different and had to do with the type of energy that resided in one's body. The Foundation stage that Iono wanted to reach before six months, was also the one that everyone had reached, without even realising it. It was the opening of the energy channels, throughout the body, that made energy flow possible.

Everything that was currently alive is or has been, through the Foundation stage. It was a natural process that usually happened during the sixth year of life, and it allowed everyone to use the energies residing inside them. Of course, the rest were only possible through hard work and perseverance, and therefore inaccessible to many.

Since this process was usually done naturally, it was difficult to do it willingly. And since most babies were, well, babies, they didn't even know they could open their channels early. To step to the Foundation stage, one has to allow the raging energies inside their bodies to flow inside the vessels that were specifically made for the flow of energy.

You see, human greed pushed the people of Yotum, to continuously chase after the acquisition of energy in their bodies, which were too fragile to hold such tyrannical forces. Luckily for them, evolution was a thing. After millennia of evolution, when born, they were bestowed with something called, "energy channels", that allowed energy to flow inside their bodies. What they didn't possess though, was a core. That had to be refined by the individual. Most children would refine their core after reaching the age of twelve when they would also be admitted to various academies.

These academies were created for teaching younglings, how to master their respective energies. The first day of admittance was also the day of core refinement. This was basic knowledge. What most didn't know though, was that refining a core, before opening your mana channels, would exponentially increase, not only their size, and correspondingly the energy they transfer, but also allows the individual, to temper said channels, before opening them.

Without a core, they had no access to energy, and so they could only wait for their channels to unclog, for them to be able to harness their respective qualities. This wasn't an incredible discovery or something. It's just that no one could teach a five-year-old, much less a toddler, how to refine a core. And so the idea was quickly discarded and forgotten by everyone. Unless someone had memories and knowledge of a previous life, such a thing was impossible.

Regressors were very, very rare and so even that possibility seemed far-fetched. In Iono's case, since he had chaos mixed in his vortex of energies, he could temper his energy channels even further making, even possibly creating a tenth stage of Body Sculpting. Iono named it, "Channel Rebirth", which was pretty cheesy even for him.
