A lost friend…

The day started off as it usually did with me hunting for food and having a bit of fun and listening out for that call. For years I have been responding to his calls. It wasn't till one day I had stopped hearing him completely, I travelled far to visit Jay every day, that's when I wasn't with the rest of my flock, but he was never there. I did worry about him slightly. Somehow, I don't know how, but I knew he was alright.

Most of the time when I flew through a certain space we both know well - it felt as though I could have felt his presence, but there was no one about. I felt cheated to have a good thing taken away just like that and I am 100% sure that Jay feels the same way too.

As I searched and searched for what my heart desires there was this bird that looked familiar. When it flew closer. I realised it wasn't going to stop, I was frozen for a moment. When I went to move I jerked upwards and saw the big prey hurtling up but not at me but at the other prey that looked a bit like Jay.

I floated around trying to see where they went and I saw nothing.

I decided to perch on the tallest tree I could find, watching the world go by. Without Jay, it seems to drag on longer than usual like there's a part of me that feels incomplete. Like every surrounding that looks familiar wherever I go, now looks totally unrecognizable, the atmosphere feels cooler than normal…

I feel lost…without him…

It's been a long time without you,

Days feel like they are getting longer,

The only one, My friend you are…

You promised to never leave me

Now here I fly...All Alone all alone

We soar through the skies not once, not twice

But, many times before

We no longer see each other

But, I still glide through the planes

Talking as if you're still here

It's been a long time without you,

It's been a long time without my friend

No more soaring together

No more laughing

No more having fun

Now you don't need me

Our time has come to go our separate ways.
