“What will you do about this man that Luciano knew?”

“Try to find him and his family, of course—but very covertly.”

“Why?”

“Think about it, Marco. How would you react if a total stranger came to your door and said something like, ‘Hello, there. I think we might be related and, by the way, you’re probably going to live a very long time’.”

“Yeah, I see what you mean.”

“I will contact a firm of investigators in Rome and have them locate the man, then begin to very quietly attempt to ascertain the names of his birth parents. As soon as I know his date of birth, I’ll send out a query to all of my male descendants asking if any of them were in Sicily at that time. It may take a while, but we’ll figure it out and bring the man into the fold, so to speak.”

“Father, exactly how many male descendants do you have?”

“To the best of my knowledge, I have fathered approximately four hundred children, roughly half of whom were male.”

“Approximately?”
