“I can’t exactly look back at a diary and find a notation that says, ‘Marco was unusually sex crazy for the last six months’, but yes, I’m certain.”

“I guess we’d better do some serious research.”

“Yeah.”

When we’d finished surfing the web for information on surrogates, I said, “As long as you can afford it, the process seems rather straightforward.”

“Yeah, provided you have the right lawyer—one that can make it airtight.”

“I have an idea about that.”

“Really?” he said.

“Yeah. Think about the only lawyers in Boston that we know. We actually went out to dinner with them a couple of times.”

“William and Henry Lane, right? The cousins who were at your school?”

“The same. If they don’t know how to handle this, you can bet they’ll know someone who does.”
