“We have plenty of room on the plane,” I said.

“Thank you,” Izzy said, “I’d love to go on the plane with you, but maybe I have a better idea. Give me a minute.”

He went into one of the bedrooms, taking out his cell phone as he went. I looked a question at Luciano, who shrugged. A few minutes later, Izzy emerged from the bedroom talking on the cell phone as he walked. He sat down beside Luciano, said, “Hold a minute,” into the phone and put his hand over the mouthpiece of the device.

“Ever made love on a train?” he said.

“Excuse me?” I said.

“There are two empty compartments on the Venice to Paris express,” he said. “It passes through Milan at seven in the morning.”

“We weren’t planning to go to Paris this weekend.”

“The train makes a brief stop in Aragoni.”

“Isn’t a compartment expensive?”

“As an executive of the railway, I can get the empty compartments gratis.”

“Dani?”

“Sure.”

“Luciano?”

“Certainly.”
