“Yes, what of it?”

“Nothing, but it explains your attitude toward sex. If you were Greek like me, you’d understand.”

“Okay, then,” I said, changing the subject, “let’s just pull the sheet up over him and send him upstairs. They’ll call me when they have some pictures I can take a look at.”

I went on to the next patient and put Andreas out of my thoughts. Two patients later, an orderly asked me if I had time to go up to the imaging department. I nodded and headed for the stairs. In the radiology office, I studied Andreas’ pictures, then I went in search of my patient.

“It was a clean break,” I said, “so all we need to do is set the bone and put you in a cast. The orthopedic department will take care of that.”

“In a cast… for how long?”

“A few weeks. Perhaps as many as six. They’ll tell you in orthopedics. In any case, you’re not going to be giving any massages for a couple of months; that’s not a job you’d want to do while you’re on crutches.”
